Once you have downloaded the required software, install the Odin program and follow these steps:

1. Copy all personal information (contacts, ringtones, pictures, etc.) to an internal or external SD card or to a computer. After flashing, all your settings will be lost.
2. If you already had older version drivers installed, you should first remove them. When you connect the gadget for the first time, the computer OS will not be able to find the drivers and will ask where to look for them. Refuse automatic search and specify the path to the folder where you saved the drivers.
3. Prepare the USB cable. An important condition for successful flashing is the use of the original USB cable. Preferably, use the cord supplied with the device.

• The stability of Odin depends on the charge of the phone and computer with the pre-installed application. A power failure will damage your smartphone or tablet. Therefore, the phone must be charged 100 percent, and instead of a computer, it is better to use a laptop with a powerful battery.

• The USB cable used during flashing can only be taken from the phone or tablet that came with it. “Alien” cables purchased separately from the phone increase the likelihood of failure during firmware installation.

• The client part of the program is installed only on the root disk of the laptop operating system, in a folder with a name in Latin. In this case, using folders with names in Cyrillic is strictly prohibited.

Today we will talk about firmware for a Samsung phone using the example of the Galaxy S i9003 model. For correct operation, it is necessary that the drivers for the phone are installed. If you already have the Kies program, then most likely you already have everything you need. I really don’t recommend flashing via Kies, because it often freezes halfway, or simply doesn’t see the smartphone, like mine. The Samsung company took care of us and released an additional program called the name of the mythical god Odin. At the time of writing, the program version is 1.83. Install additional drivers (you can download everything below) that will help the program work with the phone in firmware mode.

I warn you, I am not responsible for all manipulations with the phone that you will do after reading this article. I have flashed it using this method several times without any problems or errors. But if flashing the phone does not help with your problems, under no circumstances tell the service center about it.

There are two types of firmware: 1 file and 5 files. They differ from each other in that 1 file updates the current firmware without affecting your saved information, while 5 files erases all the contents of the phone, except for the external memory card.

Firmware process with 1 file:
1. The phone must be turned off! We connect the phone to the computer via a USB cable.
2. Launch the Odin program.
3. Make sure that the phone is connected, in the picture it is indicated on the top left should be yellow, and in the message window it says “added” (added)

4. Click on the PDA button on the right and select the previously downloaded firmware file, if it is in the archive, unpack it (the extension should be .md5, .tar or smd).
5. Enter it into the firmware state by pressing the volume down + home button + power buttons in sequence, and hold it until the Android picture with a shovel appears.
6. If everything is in order, press the start button in the ODIN program.
7. The firmware will last about 5 minutes and upon completion, the message PASS should appear in the program in the very top window! The device will reboot on its own and only when fully loaded can you disconnect the cable.
