1. Well, first of all, we just need an office suite (set of programs). Without it, the operating system is considered simply bare. The best option for these purposes is the well-known Microsoft Office. But do not install a version lower than 2010, as they are already outdated. 3. Archiver, i.e. program for compressing and decompressing files. By default, windows allows you to unpack files in zip format, but this is not enough. Therefore, it is better to use a third-party program, for example winrar (paid, but more functional), or 7-zip(free, but slightly less functional). But despite this, 7-zip is a good and convenient archiver, which will be quite enough for you.
   
4. Codecs (short for CODER-DECODER). By default, Windows may not play all video files, since no codecs are installed, i.e. special auxiliary programs for playback. The best in this regard is a set called K-Lite codec pack. It contains the most necessary codecs that will allow you to open any video file. Place your bet without hesitation.
   
5. Program for opening PDF files. By default, Windows 8 and higher have an internal pdf file viewer installed, but to be honest, it is simply terrible, a rare piece of bullshit. 6. Antivirus. Windows 8 already comes with a built-in antivirus defender. And I want to say that it is quite good (even good) and, in principle, it protects the computer from threats quite well, but only at a basic level.
