Nuzhdin left with the maximum. Hosts of Radio Maximum and some details about them. What will the programs be about?

After 5 years, one of the most popular morning radio shows suddenly closes. For several months now, the Russian Media Group holding, which includes Radio Maximum, has been shaken by discord. The holding intends to buy a state-owned enterprise in order to implement on its basis a project for “the most effective system of ideological and propaganda work with the population.” It is clear that not everyone agrees with this.

Medialeaks has collected the whole story and tells how propaganda reached music radio stations.

The morning show High Society began airing on Radio Maximum on June 15, 2010. Its hosts were Olga Maksimova, Igor Pankov, Alexander Bon and Kolya MacLeod, who left Nashe Radio. The latter soon left the team.

Every weekday from 7:00 to 11:00 am for five years, thousands of car owners stood in traffic jams listening to this program.

“I’ve been turning on High Society every weekday for four years, and suddenly this happens. Now I don’t even know what entertainment to listen to in the morning,” says car enthusiast Nikita.

On the radio website, the show and hosts are “well known to listeners” as “an integral part of the airwaves.” However, unexpectedly for everyone, on Sunday the presenters simultaneously posted on their Instagrams a post about the closure of the program and an invitation to a farewell party.

Each presenter has from 9 to 12 thousand subscribers, under each of these posts about the closure there are more than 500 comments.

I just saw this sad news... Without Olechka's witty jokes, Sasha's wild laugh and Igor's kind jokes... So what now? Beacon where you'll rock!

Olga, this is simply terrible news. My husband and I follow your company from one radio to another... Good luck to you and the guys! I hope that we will hear all three on the new radio.

I returned from vacation, and here it’s such a nightmare😔 I’m crying with burning tears😓😓😓 Sasha, I love your show!!! And I can’t imagine my morning without your trinity @pankovigor @olgamcsimova 😔😞 this is just wild news for me.

Alexander Bon posted a video on Monday evening and encouraged people to leave suggestions in the comments for the name of the new morning show that they are preparing with Pankov. On Tuesday afternoon, he posted a photo of the Nashe Radio radio station on Instagram with the following words:

Meanwhile, a petition appeared on the Change.org website to the General Director of Russian Media Group CJSC Sergei Arkhipov demanding that the entire team be returned to the airwaves.

“Sergey Sergeevich, on behalf of the multi-million army of Maximum radio listeners, I ask you to return the team of the morning radio show “High society show” to the radio airwaves: Olga Maksimova, Alexander Bon, Igor Pankov. It was these guys who lifted the mood and gave the whole country a boost of energy for the day. I ask you to listen to the target audience and consider resuming the project on the radio station.”

True, only 283 people have signed it so far. And Sergey Arkhipov is no longer the general director of RMG.

The reason for closing the show, which the hosts named in their messages, was a change in the management of the radio station. Lately there has really been complete confusion around RMG. It would seem, what does state propaganda have to do with it?

What's going on with the radio?

It all started this summer, when it became known that the Russian Media Group (RMG) (which includes radio) plans to buy the federal state enterprise Goskontsert. The media reported that the negotiations on behalf of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise were conducted by the producer of VIA "Zemlyane", the former head of the State Unitary Enterprise "Kremlin" and a member of the public council of the Federation Foundation. Vladimir Kiselev. Headed by the Federal State Unitary Enterprise himself Sergei Bunin, partner of Kiselev.

Then information appeared that RMG could become the basis for a “patriotic media holding”, the center of a project to create “the most effective system of ideological and propaganda work with the population.”

Many representatives of the domestic show business opposed the sale and even appealed to President Vladimir Putin. For some time, a message appeared on the Maximum Facebook page: “The Maximum radio team is protesting against the sale of the Russian Media Group (RMG) to State Concert.” However, it was soon removed. Then this was repeated on the page of the Monte Carlo radio station (also part of the holding).

In RMG, 78% belongs to IFD-Capital Leonid Fedun And Vagita Alekperova. Another 22% of the company is owned by Sergey Kozhevnikov.

The latter was also the general director of the company until the beginning of August. However, as business newspapers wrote, he left his post in August as a result of a conflict with the main shareholders. The official reason for his dismissal was loss of confidence in him.

Kozhevnikov himself is on vacation until October. He immediately stated that he was ready to go to court. In early September, it became known that Kozhevnikov appealed his dismissal to the State Labor Inspectorate of Moscow.

His place was taken by the co-founder of the radio station “Russian Radio” and the former head of radio broadcasting at VGTRK Sergey Arkhipov. However, a little more than a week later he left his post.

“Sorry for the unfulfilled dreams. I'm leaving RMG. The reasons, I think, are clear to everyone. Good luck to the new management of the company in their difficult work in the field of domestic show business. All the best!” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Sergey Kozhevnikov and Sergey Arkhipov are the founders of RMG. Arkhipov told Kommersant that the reason for leaving was the influence of producer Vladimir Kiselev and the FSUE Goskontsert on RMG.

“One of the first orders from Goskontsert, which I received from supposedly new shareholders, was to immediately remove from the air the artists who allegedly opposed the sale of RMG to Goskontsert. I signed a contract with IFD “Kapital” for two years and, according to my agreement with Fedun, I had complete carte blanche for personnel and program policies. On Tuesday, Fedun’s assistants said that I need to negotiate with the State Concert - I’m not going to negotiate with anyone and I’m not going to be an instrument for smoothing the relationship between Vladimir Kiselyov and the artists, this is not my business at all,” he said.

Apparently, this is just the beginning - the conflict around the RMG is in full swing.

Recently on your FB page you announced your departure from MAXIMUM radio to Rock FM. Did this come as a surprise to you and the MAXIMUM team?

Everything comes to an end. So it's not surprising that I changed jobs. 23 years in one place! Well, as much as possible! This is more then enough. My departure from MAXIMUM is partly my initiative: lately I’ve been a little unstuck without work, which I wasn’t really given on the radio. But these are already “scandals, intrigues, investigations,” and I would not like to raise this topic now and stir it up. The most important thing is that now I am happy and content.

- Are you happy that you left your old job or that you came to a new one?

I'm glad I came to Rock FM.

- What exactly will you do there?

First, I will have two programs, and then, in September, a third will join them.

- When are the first broadcasts planned?

- What will the programs be about?

Let's leave this behind the scenes for now, and let it be a surprise for the listeners.

- And as for the third program, will it be musical?

Yes, and it will be just a “bomb”. It will be designed for those people who are whistling by car on Friday, rushing to some party.

- So it’s still musical?

All three programs will be musical, no one will “mumble” on air. We do not forget about the entertainment function of radio stations in general, and Rock Fm in particular. So it will be fun.

- Is the broadcast time already known?

There is no point in talking about this yet - the grid has not yet been approved.

- And you’re unlikely to do “ruler” anymore?

I’ve already rattled off my own at the remote control, and I’m not interested in simply announcing songs on air for a long time. I love inventing radio, which is what I actually became famous for, because all my programs are the best radio programs in Russia. Therefore, we will invent new programs for Rock FM.

- Did you have any options to go to a station of a different format? After all, as a DJ you work with other musical styles - electronic.

I would love to go to a station like the one I periodically work at in Ibiza (Ibiza Sonica) - an electronic music radio. This is, of course, mine. But there is no such station in Moscow: I don’t think that we have high-quality, high-level radio stations that rotate electronic music.

- Who invited you to Rock FM?

For quite a long time I related to Zhenya Stolz (DJ, producer, program presenter and program director of “Rock FM” - author's note) as an intelligent person and a professional in his field. It’s a pleasure to communicate with him, we met several times at MAXIDROM, and I had no doubt that we would work together. So I asked for it myself, and quite successfully.

Is your career currently leaning towards DJing? In the past, you often said that at times you devoted more time to radio, and at times to clubs and DJing. How are things going now?

It will continue to be so as long as I have the strength. The market is in constant motion: somewhere there is clearly more activity and material wealth, somewhere less. So in my career, radio and DJing have always gone hand in hand. And there has never been any dissonance between these spheres. In some places I earned more, in others less. When the station “failed”, I made more money by DJing, sometimes it was the other way around. So I never put my eggs in one basket, and because I can do both, I hope to continue to DJ and do radio programs at the same time.

- What is happening now in that part of your career that is connected with club life?

Unfortunately, nothing is happening in Moscow. This is due to a pseudo-crisis: precisely pseudo, because under the guise of a lack of funding, most establishments are trying to produce a low-quality product. And so everything is calm: I periodically work at Motel, at Insomnia and at one-time events. I worked the May holidays in Crimea, before that I worked in Sochi. There are quite a few tours, but they exist.

- Is the reason the same pseudo-crisis?

Yes. But let's hope for the best.

Alexander Nuzhdin– Russian radio and TV presenter, DJ.

Biography

Education

In 1990 he graduated from Moscow Power Engineering Institute.

Job

After graduation, he served in the army. I managed to work as a translator. He often visited clubs, so he became one of the club’s DJs, and later a presenter on Radio Maximum.

In 1991, he performed for the first time as a DJ at the Palace nightclub. Then the problems were the lack of records, Alexander played like all other DJs on vinyl records.

The first club where Nuzhdin began working full-time was 2*2. Since its owners were Irish, they were able to get a lot of vinyl, which Alexander played on. He played in the style of R'n'B, then techno and house. In the end, he settled on lounge music due to the fact that the audience at the Garage club, where she then worked, did not dance much. And she sat more and more. But this direction also turned out to be difficult - it was necessary to retain the public and increase the average bill.

Since 1998, he began to work more in cafes than in clubs. So he became a DJ in the pyramid.

In 1997, I was not very busy with work at Radio Maximum, so I could combine this work with the work of a DJ. Now he is the most famous DJ in the capital, he has played in many clubs, and created some projects himself. He is proud of his performances in the clubs Garage, Utopia, JetSet and XIII.

Now he works as an art director of the Spettacolo restaurant, a resident of the Ibiza restaurant Sun Sea Bar and the Moscow club ICON. Lives in Moscow.

His mother was a cellist.

Colleagues recognize him as a successful and charismatic presenter.

At the time of working as a DJ, I had no knowledge of this technique, but I quickly learned. His teacher was DJ Oleg Ojo.

Represented Russia at cultural days in Brussels and Stockholm.

He has the title of best lounge DJ according to the Moscow Lounge Festival.

He became the first Russian DJ working in Ibiza at Cafe Del Mar, and since then he has been representing our country there constantly. Every year it presents its Nu Jazz program at the Usadba Jazz festival. He opened the Fortdance 2007 sets for subsequent performances by Moonbootica, Hernan Cataneo and Armin Van Buuren. “Runway” appeared on the air in 1994 and became the first morning show in Russia. This was a completely new broadcasting format: from six in the morning Olya and Kostya helped their audience wake up as soon as they could, and the “Larks on the Wire” section became truly legendary. Telephone pranks quickly won the hearts of listeners, and the hosts were nicknamed “morning larks.” Many sections were copied by competing radio stations, as was the idea of the show itself, but the popularity of “Runway” did not suffer from this. Over the years, Elmar Ishiev, Georgy Tsikhiseli, Alexandra Kerbel, Yuri Pashkov and Pavel Kirillov became larks.

“Runway” reigned supreme on the morning airwaves until February 2002, having survived not only repeated changes of presenters. On March 17, 1999, a fire occurred in the building where the morning show studio was located, and for several hours broadcasting had to be done from a backup studio on Shabolovka. By a lucky chance, the radio station personnel were not injured, and a new ironic screensaver, “The Hottest Radio,” appeared on the air.

2. Hit parade of two capitals

Presenter - Alexander Nuzhdin

Photo - www.youtube.com

"KhPDS" appeared on the air in 1995. Every Sunday, host Alexander Nuzhdin presented the 20 best songs according to listeners, simultaneously telling a little about each of them. What's so special about it? Yes, the hit parade of the two capitals was also the first of its kind. The maximum audience really enjoyed voting for their favorites and listening to stories about the creation of songs, pieces of band interviews and the hottest news on the radio. Of course, the idea of a consolidated chart did not remain exclusive for long.

The presenter's voice also played an important role. Alexander acquired fans and literally became a symbol of the radio: he voiced the vast majority of commercials, recorded the iconic “needs” that were played between songs several times an hour, constantly participated in the selection of musical material, and later became the station’s deputy program director.

3. Biology

Presenters - Leva Bi-2 and Shura Bi-2

Photo - daily.afisha.ru →

In 2005, the Bi-2 group’s original program “Biology” started on Radio Maximum. Shura and Lyova appeared on the night air exactly an hour before midnight every Tuesday. For an hour, the guys talked with listeners on various topics, answered questions and performed on the air various compositions of their choice, and this choice did not always fit into the usual Maximum format. This is the point of the program - to introduce the listener to popular music in the West, which is almost impossible to hear on Russian radio.

Over the 5 years of existence, a variety of people have visited Shura and Lyova - from Brainstorm, Gleb Samoilov and Diana Arbenina to Glucose and the Brothers Grimm! Biology was so popular that it even had a video version on the then alternative channel A-One. But in 2010, the project went on sabbatical due to a change in management at the station.

4. Morning show Bachinsky and Stillavin

Presenters - Gennady Bachinsky and Sergey Stillavin

Photo - namednibook.ru →

In February 2002, Radio Maximum announced a new morning show to replace “Runway” - it was called “Two in One”. This time, the tandem of Gennady Bachinsky and Sergei Stillavin, already established at the St. Petersburg Radio Modern, was invited to play the role of presenters. The guys were at the peak of their fame, they quickly took root and fell in love with the listeners. Their broadcasts were recorded on audio cassettes, re-listened to themselves and passed on to friends. In 2005, Sergei took the position of program director, and Gennady became the general producer.

In 2007, Bachinsky and Stillavin received the prestigious Radiomania award for their morning show, but soon after this the popular duo decided to leave Maximum in order to conquer new television heights. A year later, Gennady died tragically in a car accident, but their incendiary show is still remembered and considered a reference by many radio listeners.

5. Learn to swim

Presenter - Alexander F. Sklyar

Photo - afsklyar.ru →

“Learn to Swim” is one of the first programs of Radio Maximum, which started back in 1991. Here was the alternative that was just beginning to gain momentum in our country, and heavy Western music that was simply not played on the radio at any other time. The program quickly won its audience. There were simply no other programs like this on the FM band! Soon, collections began to be published on cassettes, and even a festival of alternative teams appeared under the UP brand. The first festival was held in the Palace of Culture named after. Gorbunov, the second - at “Gorbushka” in Moscow and at the Lensovet Palace of Culture in St. Petersburg. Among the festival participants were Crocodile TX, IFK, Tequilajazzz, Zdob şi Zdub, Naive, Psyche, Hives, Bricks and even Rage Against the Machine!

“Learn to Swim” became a cult program, the broadcast of which listeners eagerly awaited every week. The musicians considered it a great honor to get on the air; for this they sent a huge number of cassettes to the studio by mail or gave them to Alexander personally at the first opportunity.

Due to a change in management, the program was closed in 1998. After 12 years, “UP” returned to the airwaves of Radio Maximum again with a new presenter, Alexander “Chacha” Ivanov, whose powers were solemnly handed over in the first episode by the now guest of the program, Alexander F. Sklyar, but the comeback lasted only 7 episodes. Currently, Radio Maximum broadcasts on Thursdays the law receiver “Learn to Swim” - the program “Learn to Hear” with presenters Anton Lavrentiev and Alena Roshal.

6. FM cafe

Presenter - Alexander Nuzhdin

Photo - mixmag.io →

The slogan of this program is “An Hour of Light Music.” “FM cafe” was created to provide the listener with the opportunity to listen to an alternative to what existed on the radio waves. The Saturday night broadcast featured lounge, acid jazz, new age and other “lighter” modern music. In between, Nuzhdin talked about the groups included in the program in his characteristic somewhat detached manner, but with the utmost respect for the listener. Already in the first month, the program found not only its listener, but also an advertiser, began to generate profit, thanks to which it stayed on the air for a long time.

At the end of 2003, “FM cafe” was recognized as the best music program and awarded the “Radiomania” award, and on the Maximum radio website you can still listen to it as a separate online radio station.

7. Russian lessons

Presenter - Andrei Bukharin

Photo - radiomayak.ru →

“Russian Lessons” appeared on Maximum in January 2008 as a project by journalist Andrei Bukharin, known for his work at Rolling Stone and OM. It was a program in which the listener was offered the entire variety of Russian-language music. Here you could hear Zoo and TV, Linda, Slot, Sunsay and Animal Jazz, then Amatory, Tracktor Bowling and $7000, and get Casta or Mister Small for a snack. The only thing they didn’t put on air was the military arsenal of Russian radio and the stars of chanson. The multi-genre nature of the program diversified Maximum and allowed “Russian Lessons” to exist for more than two years, after which the project was eventually closed.

8. High Sosity

Presenters - Alexander Bon, Olga Maksimova and Igor Pankov

Photo - www.daymusic.ru →

"High Society Show" replaced "Morning Larks" in June 2010. The presenters were the team of Bon, Maksimova, Pankov and Kolya MacLeod, who were previously responsible for the morning broadcast of Our Radio as part of the “Shyzgar Show”. True, the four guys did not work for long: MacLeod left High Society within a week.

Despite this, the team of the new morning show lasted more than 5 years, and during this time they were expected every weekday morning. Still would! At this time, sleepless listeners had the opportunity not only to laugh heartily at the jokes of the cheerful presenters, but also to win live tickets to all concerts held with the support of Radio Maximum, a bunch of useful souvenirs with branded symbols, to participate in online competitions for the best photo or joke on a given topic and listen to interviews with interesting guests. And the guests who came to HS were very different: from Brainstorm to Sasha Grey!

However, in June 2015, first Bon and Pankov left the maximum broadcast, and a little later Olga also left.

9. Electronically tested

Presenter - Alexander Nuzhdin

Photo - www.radioportal.ru →

The slogan of the program “Checked by electronics” is a well-forgotten old thing. Here every Friday evening they played hits and unknown songs of famous bands of the 80s. A musical era almost forgotten by listeners received the right to a new life and a whole hour of airtime.

“PE” was so popular and in demand that in 2005 it was awarded the national Radiomania award in the “Best Program” category. It was hosted by Alexander Nuzhdin, and yes, there is a lot of him in our selection. But the fact is that Sasha’s voice is still clearly associated with Radio Maximum by many listeners on a subconscious level. Nuzhdin faithfully worked at the cult radio station for 23 years, and it is in his voice that the phrases recorded in our subcortex “If radio is Maximum”, “Maximum of new rock music”, “Music Power” and many others are heard.

Alexander’s departure from Maximum radio in May 2016 provoked a wide public outcry; the radio station’s official accounts on social networks were literally inundated with messages in the spirit of “Why listen to Maximum now?”, “Where have those in need gone?” or simply “Bring back Nuzhdin!” However, nothing lasts forever, and “Checked by Electronics” with its permanent presenter now airs on the waves of Rock FM.

10. Heavy Monday

Presenter - Sergey Hobbit

Photo - airpersonalities.ru →

Well, the last point in our rating will be Sergei Hobbit’s unique program “Heavy Monday”. It is published once a week, on Mondays, from June 5, 2017 until now. On air for an hour, new items and little-known tracks from representatives of the heaviest scene selected by the presenter are played. Known for his work at A-One in its heyday, The Hobbit fit perfectly into the station's airwaves and was loved by its target audience. Of course, the title of legendary here was clearly given in advance, but in a relatively short period of time the program has gained enormous popularity among listeners, many of whom are calling for more airtime to be given to it, constantly discussing the playlist and actively participating in its creation themselves.

The voice of radio host Alexander Nuzhdin will soon be heard on the Rock FM radio station. The DJ spoke about this on social networks: “23 years at Maximum are over. Rock FM!!!" This laconic message on Instagram in a short time gained more than a thousand likes and a couple of hundred comments.

All interested parties withdrew their statements. The DJ also made no further announcements. The program director of the Rock FM radio station said that comments about Nuzhdin’s future in a new place will be given by the radio station’s press service. However, on May 26, on Instagram himself told that Nuzhdin will broadcast 2 original musical programs, the format of which was tested earlier and was liked by listeners.

Nuzhdin’s appearance on RockFM is, in my opinion, a logical continuation of his impressive radio career,” said Stolz.

It is known that Nuzhdin will host the program "Electronically tested" (Wednesday, 21-00) about the music of the 80s and a chart of interesting facts about rock celebrities Friday's Chart (Friday, 19-00, repeat on Sunday at 13-00). Information is posted on the Rock FM website in the Programs section.

The dismissal of Alexander Nuzhdin from the radio does not prevent him from remaining the brand voice of the radio station. Promos and jingles previously recorded by the radio host are heard on air. Maximum has the rights to these materials and uses them at its own discretion. Probably, Nuzhdin’s previous (RMG) and new employer (Multimedia Holding) do not consider the simultaneous appearance of a famous presenter on two metropolitan frequencies to be critical.

One can only guess about the on-air present of the owner of one of the most recognizable and interesting voices in Russian commercial radio broadcasting. We don’t know what voice form Alexander is in now, since his projects have not been heard on Maximum radio for a long time. According to some reports, Nuzhdin had problems with his voice. The premiere of new shows on 95.2 FM will answer all your questions. Coming soon to Rock FM and in our section.
