The maximum amount for assessing a parcel with cash on delivery. Cash on delivery: what is it? Advantages and disadvantages. What is included in the cash on delivery amount?

Parceling is a procedure that has not lost its relevance over time. A valuable parcel post, just like a registered letter, has certain sending rules (a list of items that are allowed to be sent) and acceptable weight limits. You can use the services of Russian Post on the territory of the Russian Federation.

What is this

Declared value is a guarantee that the sent package will reach the recipient and its contents will be preserved. Most often, valuable parcels are declared to be those that contain expensive equipment - mobile phones, cameras, laptops, tablets. In this case, declaring the value of the shipment is a mandatory condition. The transport company and post office are responsible for valuable parcels and cargo. In addition, letters and parcels are financially protected from damage and loss.

If delivery deadlines for valuable items are missed or they are lost or damaged, the sender has the right to demand compensation at the post office. Valuable items are sent only from the post office. They must be registered.

The value is assigned by the sender himself. Postal workers indicate the amount on the envelope, package or packaging, as well as other information. The cost is indicated in numbers and words. The post office charges a commission for sending, which is four percent of the value. The EMS express fee is less - only one percent. If a valuable parcel is sent by cash on delivery, an inventory must be attached.

How to send

The parcel with declared value should be sent to the post office. Operators accept parcels, packages and letters, decorated accordingly. The parcel must correspond to the dimensions, weight, value and not contain items prohibited for shipment. Before sending the parcel, it must be packaged correctly. Most often, you can purchase packaging (boxes, bags, envelopes) at the post office. Standard packaging has empty fields where you should enter the recipient's address and other information about the shipment (the amount of value and cash on delivery). The sender and recipient details look like this:

  • Full Name.
  • Street name, house or apartment number.
  • Locality.
  • Area.
  • Region (region, territory, republic).
  • A country.
  • Postcode.

Other information is also indicated if the declared value of the parcel is high. Before sending, the postal worker checks whether the parcel is packed correctly and that the fields are filled in. If everything is correct, the operator accepts the shipment after final payment.

Parcel

What does "declared value" mean? It is imposed on all items sent that are of high value. It is determined by the sender himself. Parcels sent with a declared value are always sent cash on delivery. The parcel may contain magazines, books, equipment, items. Permissible weight ranges from 100 grams to two kilograms. The rules for sending large parcels depend on what type of parcel is selected. It should be noted that the cost of sending a parcel is lower than that of a parcel. If the contents of the package weigh more than two kilograms, and its price is more than ten thousand, postal employees have the right to refuse delivery by parcel post.

The sender has access to the service of sending a registered parcel. This is a registered package that requires signature confirmation from the sender and recipient upon delivery to the specified address. In order to send a registered parcel, you must fill out a special form at the post office. If you need to send a parcel abroad, the rules for such shipments are the same as in Russia. The only difference is that you should use a bag instead of a box; the weight of the contents can reach two kilograms. Tariffs for transporting parcels abroad are higher.

Letter

The declared value of a letter is a guarantee in case of its loss or damage. As with a parcel post, to send such a letter, the sender must declare its value. If the envelope is lost, the sender will be partially compensated. The letter must be registered at the post office, and the delivery must be tracked using the identifier number assigned to it on the Russian Post website.

To send a valuable letter, buy an envelope of a suitable size (maximum size 229x324 mm, in the Russian Federation the weight of the contents should be no more than 100 grams, abroad - up to 2 kilograms). Then give the envelope to the operator at the post office and tell them how much compensation you would like to receive for possible loss.

In addition, the sender can make an inventory of the attachment and receive notification of delivery of the letter. The sender also has access to additional services: air forwarding, SMS notification, list of attachments, cash on delivery, notification of receipt by the addressee.

Receipt

You can receive a letter with declared value by mail. When it arrives at the corresponding Russian Post office at the specified address, employees will send a notification to the recipient. The same applies to parcels. They receive parcels and letters at the post office or the postman delivers them to the door of the apartment. Often, due to a shortage of workers, the recipient has to come to the branch on their own to pick up a parcel or letter.

Price

Declared value is a guarantee provided by the post office. The fee for the parcel is collected from the citizen by the postal worker at the post office at the time of reception. The cost is set taking into account the amount of the parcel and is determined by the established tariffs at the post office. The fact of payment is confirmed by a check, stamps and stamps. International and domestic shipments have different rates.

The shipping cost is affected by the shipping address (distance), region, weight of the parcel or letter, and dimensions. A parcel can have a maximum value (Russian Post) of 10 thousand rubles. A letter with a declared value is 500 thousand, a first class parcel is 100 thousand rubles. The entire list of services and prices is provided at the post office. For example, if a parcel weighs five hundred grams and is delivered by ground transport, the shipping price varies from 70 to 100 rubles. It all depends on the distance.

This information was taken from the site Russian Posts and is for reference only.

Buyers receive many questions like: I ordered a product for a small amount, but upon receipt I had to pay a lot more.

NPF "Research Center" receives only cost of goods, the rest you pay to the post office.
We will try to explain where and for what the post office takes money.

Firstly, the post office does not accept parcels from us, since according to postal rules, only “low-value printed publications, manuscripts, photographs” can be sent by postal parcel, so we send the goods by parcel. see http://www.postline.ru/directorys/section26/section2889/

Secondly, the minimum parcel weight is 500 grams (so when you order 2 boxes weighing 220 grams at the post office they will still charge you for 500)

The fact is that the goods are sent by mail "cash on delivery" which includes the following:

1. Cost of goods.

2. Shipping cost, which depends on weight and distance, which is calculated from Novosibirsk according to table 2 below.

3. Insurance fee (clause 20 of table 4) “For the declared value of parcels sent by land, air transport and combined methods, an additional fee is charged for each full or incomplete 1 ruble of the estimated value” That is, 4% of the cost of the goods.

4. Sending money back by postal order, for which the post office charges money. (tariffs are shown in Table 3.) In this case, the amount of the transferred amount includes all the above payments.

We make a calculation.

1. Select a belt according to table 1 (if you have not found your area, then below in the notes, belt 3 is used)

2. Based on weight And belts determine the cost of shipping from Novosibirsk (table 2)

4. Upon receipt of the parcel, you will pay 4% for the return shipping of money.

Thus, the amount you will pay for the parcel is:

Σ = (Cost of goods + We're standing. per. + We're standing. fear.) X We're standing. sending money back

As a result, NPF "ITs" will receive only the cost of the goods, the rest will be postage.

When ordering various goods in online stores, you most likely saw the “cash on delivery” item in the list of delivery and payment options. What it is?

Cash on delivery is a type of payment in which the buyer receives the goods at the post office only after paying the department employees a certain amount.

What is included in the cash on delivery amount?

Those who have already dealt with this method of payment know that the final amount of the declared value (that is, exactly the money that the buyer deposits at the post office) is slightly higher than the price of the goods indicated in the online store catalog itself.

This is explained by the fact that the cash on delivery amount, in addition to the actual cost of the goods, usually also includes costs associated with packaging and shipping the order.

In addition, each buyer pays a certain percentage of the declared value of the parcel in accordance with the tariffs of the post office itself - this money is needed so that the post office subsequently sends the funds contributed by the buyer to the sender.

But, as they say, “the wolf is not as terrible as they paint him”: in addition to the basic amount at the post office, the buyer pays no more than 100-300 rubles (it all depends on the price of the product itself). Of course, it matters how expensive the purchase itself is, because basically everything is calculated as a percentage.

How to send goods by cash on delivery?

This information will be useful for sellers who want to send goods using cash on delivery. You already know what this is, which means it’s easy to imagine how the sending procedure roughly takes place.

To begin with, the seller must inform the postal workers of his intention to send the parcel. At the department, he receives a blank postal order form, as well as 2 forms for filling out an inventory (as when sending a valuable parcel).

The seller fills out the postal order in his name on behalf of the buyer. In addition to the estimated delivery price, the amount must also include the 8% commission charged by the post office for the delivery of valuable parcels.

After the postal worker checks the documents, the postal order form is attached to the parcel. The seller is issued a postal receipt and an inventory form certified by mail.

The buyer, in turn, can receive the purchase only after paying for the goods - this is cash on delivery. Tariffs on both sides are quite small, but they must be taken into account so that the process of sending and delivering the order goes smoothly.

The main advantage that cash on delivery has in this regard is a certain guarantee for the buyer. After all, you are not paying for some ephemeral product that may not be sent to you at all (many do not trust online stores for this very reason), but for a parcel that is already in the department. As soon as you pay the required amount, the shipment is transferred to you, that is, you receive your order. This is why cash on delivery is so popular because it is truly beneficial for the buyer: you do not need to pay for the parcel immediately after placing the order - there is still a certain amount of time left until the goods arrive at the post office.

As for the disadvantages, first of all it is the need to overpay a certain amount, albeit a small one. In addition, you cannot inspect the contents of the parcel before payment. And if an unscrupulous seller sent you something completely different from what you ordered, you can only contact the police.

If you send items cash on delivery (or any other goods), you are guaranteed to receive payment for them.

Among the disadvantages, the first thing to note is the risk that the client simply does not pick up his order, and the goods will be sent back to you. And everything would be fine, but sending it by mail itself takes a lot of time (from 3-5 days to several weeks). As a result, there is a risk of delays in trade turnover and, as a result, the online store incurs losses.

However, despite the misunderstandings that sometimes arise, many sellers are confident when choosing cash on delivery that this is one of the most popular payment methods. There is no doubt about it - thousands of online stores successfully send products this way, and millions of customers are happy to pick up their long-awaited purchases from the post office.

We have told you about the main risks, but you should understand that risks are just possible situations that arise very rarely in practice.

Cash on delivery - what is it? How to buy goods in a store by cash on delivery and receive them at the Russian post office

Payment of the cost of the parcel upon receipt is a common method of payment for purchased goods. This system of transferring funds has its own nuances, advantages and disadvantages. Knowledge of the payment system will protect you from possible errors and make its use more efficient.

If you want to buy a product in a distant store, you can order and pay for it upon receipt. What does cash on delivery mean? This is money that is collected from the buyer on behalf of the seller at the post office upon delivery of the item - letters, parcels, parcels. Then the cost of the goods is transferred to the sender or the person indicated by him. Postal items are marked with special labels.

Cash on delivery – what is it? The concept refers to the procedure for receiving and storing parcels, regulated by strict rules. Valuable cargo arrives at the post office and is stored there. In the meantime, a corresponding notification is sent to the recipient. Storing parcels or packages at the post office is free for some time (for example, five days). If a person refuses to receive and pay for the shipment or does not show up within a specific period (in Russia the maximum period is 30 days), the goods are sent back to the seller.

How much does cash on delivery cost?

Shipping valuable items has different costs, which depend on a number of factors. The price of the service includes:

  • The cost of the item shipped by the seller.
  • Shipping fee. The Russian Post commission for cash on delivery is determined by the dispatch distance and the weight of the goods.
  • Insurance fee.
  • Commission for transferring money to the seller by postal order. The tariff depends on the amount and distance of the delivery point.

How to send a parcel by cash on delivery

To send a package with payment on delivery, prepare the packaging and the recipient's address to calculate the shipping percentage. First of all, you should contact your nearest post office. Shipments are accepted already packaged, unless an inventory is attached. The post office sells boxes of different sizes with fields for indicating addresses. To send goods, you need to fill out a cash on delivery form and indicate the amount. Shipping costs are determined by the remoteness of the region and the declared value of the items.

When sending a parcel, you must indicate the method of receiving money for the goods - by postal order, transfer. You need to write your address or bank account details in a specific field. It is not necessary to make an inventory of the attachments for the shipment, but it is advisable. A certified list of contents will protect you from possible surprises. The inventory is compiled twice and handed over to both parties. Having accepted the shipment and payment for postal services, the company operator issues a receipt to the sender. The parcel is assigned a number so that its location can be tracked.

How to receive cash on delivery by mail

After the parcel arrives at the post office indicated by the sender, the recipient receives a notification. To receive goods by cash on delivery, you need to visit the post office. Courier delivery is possible. Delivery of the parcel is made only after presentation of the passport and payment of the amount stated in the document. You need to fill out the back of the form according to the sample, indicating:

  • last name, first name, patronymic of the buyer;
  • payment amount;
  • date of receipt;
  • buyer's passport details;
  • citizenship of the recipient.

Advantages and disadvantages of cash on delivery for buyers

The cost of the cargo is covered upon receipt. Products paid on delivery are sent to the buyer faster. Payment by bank transfer takes longer. In addition, no advance payment is required to place an order. Funds will be needed to receive the parcel. However, cash on delivery has certain disadvantages. This is a relatively high cost of postal service. In addition, the buyer does not have the opportunity to open the parcel and check its contents before paying.

Advantages and disadvantages of cash on delivery for sellers

By sending valuable cargo, the seller is confident of receiving its value. This is true in most cases. Shipping by EMS cash on delivery (with express delivery) is a popular way of organizing payment between a seller and a buyer from a remote city. In exceptional cases, the client does not pick up the cargo waiting for him at the post office. There are different reasons. The buyer may change his mind, get sick, or forget. The post office will send back the unclaimed item. Disadvantages - the sender does not receive proceeds from the sale and pays transportation costs.

Video: how to send goods by cash on delivery

Sometimes I use the services of the Russian Post, I myself have been a seller and a buyer. It’s very convenient: you bring the item, they pack it, fill out the form, pay for EMS shipping and that’s it. Then you receive the transfer and go to the post office again. Sometimes there is no packaging in the department or it is difficult to find a suitable box. Otherwise, all conditions are satisfactory.

Natalya, 42 years old

This is not the first time I buy children's things from catalogs and receive them with payment on delivery. Clothes arrive on time, neatly packed in boxes, safe and sound. In addition to the cost of the clothes, it was necessary to pay for delivery. I like the fact that you don’t need money to place an order. The downside is the huge queues at the Russian Post.

Alexandra, 35 years old

I often use the service and find it very convenient. For several years I have been buying clothes, ordering seeds and seedlings. Our landscape has been transformed during this time thanks to this opportunity. I think you need to carefully choose a company so that there is no deception. If the purchase price is high, it is better to unpack it at the post office, in front of the employees.

Vladimir, 28 years old

The other day, books arrived, and it turned out that something strange was happening at Russian Post. I ordered publications from the catalogue, and the package arrived weighing almost four kilograms. When she checked in at our post office, according to the documents, it turned out to be two hundred and sixty grams. Later it turned out that everything was in order, there was an error in filling out the notification.

Cash on delivery is a certain amount of money that the postal operator takes from the recipient when delivering mail to him at the direction of the sender. This amount is sent back to the sender by money order.

You can send parcels and parcels with a declared value by cash on delivery. In certain cases (for example, when purchasing goods online), the cash on delivery service is very convenient. The meaning of the service is that the recipient sees that he has received a package (he was not deceived by the seller, for example), pays a predetermined amount and receives his package. If the addressee does not want to receive the postal item and pay for it, or does not come to the post office to receive his postal item within a certain time (30 days in Russia), then the parcel is sent back to the sender. The post office charges a separate cost for the “cash on delivery” service.

Let's find out how to send parcels by cash on delivery by Russian Post, as well as the cost of this service. The sender must provide the postal worker with the parcel (parcel) unpacked. To pack your parcel, you can purchase a parcel box directly from the post office. Then you need to fill out information about the sender and recipient, a cash on delivery form in form 113en. This form is filled out by the sender in the fields outlined in bold. It is important to take into account that the declared value of the parcel should not exceed the cash on delivery amount. After which the postal operator takes the parcel from you and issues a receipt, which will indicate the tracking number for this parcel. Which is an added benefit. It is advisable to keep the receipt until you receive money for the parcel.

Typically, the cost of sending a parcel by Russian Post cash on delivery includes:

  • the cost of the goods, items sent by parcel;
  • shipping cost. It depends on the weight of the parcel, delivery distance, and method (by ground transport, air or a combined method);
  • insurance fee (for the value of the postal item);
  • delivery of money back to the sender by postal order.

Consequently, the cost of postage by cash on delivery by Russian Post is always different in each individual case.

Since the cost of delivering a parcel by Russian Post by cash on delivery depends on the weight of the parcel and the distance of its delivery, here you need to focus on the tariffs for sending valuable parcels. If your postal item weighs no more than 2 kg, then it is more profitable and cheaper to send a parcel post rather than a parcel. All tariffs for valuable parcels and parcels are divided into 5 tariff zones by region of the country.

As we have already found out, delivery cost by Russian Post cash on delivery depends on the fee for sending money back to the sender. Russian Post has tariffs for postal money transfers, which also depend on the amount of the transfer itself and the distance to the final delivery point. There is a typical cost of postal money transfer:

  • up to 1000 rubles - 40 rubles + 5% of the amount;
  • 1000 - 5000 rubles - 50 rubles + 4% of the transferred amount;
  • 5000 - 20000 rubles - 150 rubles + 2% of the transferred amount;
  • 20,000 - 500,000 rubles - 250 rubles + 1.5% of the amount of money sent.

Therefore, the cost of the Russian Post cash on delivery service cannot be summed up in any general amounts for all cases of sending postal items.

The undoubted advantage of cash on delivery is that you pay for the product or item at the time of receipt, and not in advance. That is, there is an opportunity to pay for the goods not now, but after some time - a kind of loan.

Working through Russian Post, we encountered a problem.

Dispatch is carried out. When filling out the shipment form, you must indicate (the amount of cash on delivery that the buyer pays upon receipt of the shipment). This must be done so that the amount of cash on delivery is equal to the cost of the goods on the website plus the cost of postal services (in the interests of the seller and buyer).

The problem is that a Postal employee can calculate the final price of postal services only after indicating the amount of cash on delivery, and the seller (sender) can name the exact payment amount only after adding up the price of goods and Postal services (We can find out in advance the cost of shipping, the cost containers and inventory, we cannot know in advance the size of the commission for the declared value - it is equal to 4% of the total value). It turns out to be a vicious circle, which can be solved by approximate value of the amount of cash on delivery (“calculated offhand” by a Post Office employee, or by long approximations in a live queue of other post office visitors).

Unfortunately, the Post Office cannot give an exact answer on calculating the cost of cash on delivery.

However, taking into account all the variables and coefficients, a simple formula is obtained, the opposite of the final calculation that is done at the Post Office. So, if you want to know in advance the exact amount that needs to be indicated in the shipping documents and which can be announced to the buyer, read below.

C.O.D- the amount of money that the Post collects from the addressee upon delivery of the postal item and which is sent to the sender by postal order.

Declared value- the value of the postal item, established by the sender when delivering the item to the post office. The post office is responsible for loss or damage to the contents of items within the OC. It cannot be less than the amount of cash on delivery, therefore, when delivering goods by Post, the OT is equal to the amount of cash on delivery.
