When introducing the iPhone X, the company used the phrase “the future of smartphones.” Tim Cook said that the new device will set the direction for the development of the industry for the next 10 years. In terms of design, there is no news; we have already seen all this for a long time.

The smartphone is protected from dust and moisture at the “microscopic level” (probably, we are talking about class IP68). The colors Space Gray and Silver were initially announced, but it is obvious that the list will be significantly expanded in the near future.

iPhone X received a 5.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels, which was called Super Retina Display. The pixel density is a record 458 ppi for the iPhone family.

Super Retina Display supports high dynamic range (HDR10 and Dolby Vision standards), 3D Touch and True Tone technologies, and is also characterized by a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1.

Touching the screen will wake the phone from standby mode, and swiping up will open the desktop. Siri can be called by voice, as before, or by double-clicking the button on the side.

iPhone X has learned to recognize users by faces; the technology that replaced Touch ID is called Face ID. The area at the top of the screen is called the TrueDepth camera system; there is room for an IR camera, front camera, microphone, proximity sensor and other sensors.

The A11 Bionic single-chip system, which is also used in, is equipped with two productive and four energy-efficient cores. It outperforms the Apple A10 in performance by 70%. The GPU was first created by Apple, features three cores and is 30% faster than the GPU in the previous SoC.

Only the first has an aperture of F/1.8, and the second has an aperture of F/2.4, meaning the iPhone X should cope better with shooting in low light conditions. Speaking of battery life, Apple says the iPhone X lasts 2 hours longer than the iPhone 7 under the same conditions. Not surprisingly, the iPhone X supports Qi wireless charging, just like the iPhone 8.

Next year, Apple will release an AirPower accessory that will be used to wirelessly charge its smartphones and Apple Watch Series 3, as well as a new case for AirPods.

The iPhone X will go on sale on November 3, and pre-orders will begin on October 27. The version with 64 GB of flash memory will cost $999. A version with 256 GB of flash memory will also be offered.

The name of the display contains the word Super for a reason. Apple engineers have used advanced color correction technology that is superior to similar systems used in all previous iPhones (including 8 and Plus). The competent functioning of the iPhone X processor is especially noticeable during everyday use. If a person uses a smartphone only for work (sending messages, making calls, surfing the Internet), the system produces the power that is needed to perform the above tasks. Thus, the iPhone 10 does not work at the edge of its capabilities when it is not necessary. This significantly saves battery power. Particular attention should be paid to the capabilities of augmented reality. Applications that support this feature will run more smoothly. In addition, in combination with a high-quality display, the processor will make the virtual picture as clear and realistic as possible.
Video processor. When working with graphics, a 3-core video card is used. It will provide 30% more performance than a similar element on the A10 Fusion. Any games will be played with a large number of fps, and the same augmented reality will provide the user with an exciting pastime.
RAM. Perhaps this is the element of technical stuffing on which the engineers decided to save money. The iPhone X has 3 GB of RAM. Of course, thanks to Apple’s legendary optimization, all applications will work without problems, but on such an expensive flagship I would like to see more impressive numbers.

However, there are a number of highlights that make the front camera of the iPhone X the most advanced of its kind. First of all, it supports TrueDepth shooting mode. When activated, faces in selfies will be as clear as possible, while the background will be slightly blurred.

And now for the icing on the cake. Until now, we have never mentioned how you can unlock the iPhone 10. Before the official presentation, everyone thought that the engineers would simply move the fingerprint sensor to another place - for example, on the back panel, like on Xiaomi. But no, they went even further. So, unlocking the 10th iPhone is carried out using Face ID technology, that is, by the user’s face. The operation of this technology is ensured by a whole complex of elements located in the cutout in the upper part of the front panel.

Secondly, the A11 Bionic processor is directly responsible for the operation of Face ID technology, and we remember that it has a learning function.
