The phone's instructions will tell you how to set a ringtone for a contact listed on your phone or SIM card. Simple steps will help you assign your own melody to each contact.

For each phone model, the rules for setting a ringtone to a contact are different. To perform the necessary operations on the Samsung Galaxy, it is necessary that the contact data is saved in the phone and the ringtones are saved on the memory card. Let’s go to contacts, select the one you need, then go to the edit menu and select “Advanced”. After that, in the music player, select the melody to install and while it is playing, press the context menu button and select the “Set as melody” item.

In order to set a ringtone for an Android contact, you need to do the following:

  1. Enter your contact list.
  2. Select the subscriber to whom you want to assign a personal ringtone, click on it. The phone number and the “Call” and “Send SMS” icons should appear.
  3. Press “Menu”, then select “Options”, then “Melody”. Go to melodies, select the desired ringtone.

Set your own ringtone

To install your own melody, create a media folder on the flash card and an audio subfolder in it. In this subfolder we create four more folders, which must be named strictly with the following names: alarms, notifications ringtones and ui. We drop the downloaded new melodies into these new folders, reboot the smartphone and the new melodies now become available for installation.

Set a ringtone on iPhone

The instructions on how to set an iPhone ringtone are very simple. Click on the icon of the contact to whom we want to assign a new melody, then on the arrow opposite the contact, then on the “Change” icon at the top of the screen. We get to the editing menu, select a ringtone, put a checkmark next to the desired melody, save and use.

Setting different ringtones for different contacts allows you to find out who is calling without even taking out your smartphone. In addition, different melodies add some variety. Which can be useful if you get tired of hearing the same ringtone every time you receive a call. In this article we will talk about how to set a ringtone to a contact on an Android smartphone.

Setting a ringtone for a contact is done through the Contacts application, and not through Settings, as one might think. Therefore, we open “Contacts”, find the contact we need there and open it.

After this, a page with information about the contact will open in front of you. Here you need to scroll down the information. At the bottom of the page there should be a “Ringtone” button, you need to click on it in order to set a melody for a contact on Android. If there is no such button on the page with information about the contact, it means that in your firmware the melody is set using the context menu button (or the button with three dots).

After clicking on the “Ringtone” button, you need to select an audio file using one of the available programs. For example, let's select “Multimedia Storage”.

After this, a list of available melodies appears on the screen. Here you just need to select a melody and click on the “Yes” button. After which this melody will be installed on the contact you have selected.

If you do not want to use standard ringtones, then you can add any other audio file to this list. To do this, use the “Add” button.

Tired of the standard ringtone on your phone? Read our instructions and you will learn how to set your favorite song to the ringtone of your Android.

Millions of people own devices running Android OS, but not everyone knows how to change the standard ringtone. In this article we will look at several ways to set any song as a ringtone.

The standard way to change the ringtone

This method is carried out through the general settings menu. Go to settings, then click on the “Sound” section, then click the “Ringtone” button.

A list of melodies that were installed by the manufacturer opens. Some smartphones and tablets allow you to set your own composition in the same menu. To do this, there is a “+” button at the top.

If there is no such button, we use a little trick. You will need to put the audio file in the desired folder with ringtones. After this, the composition will automatically appear in the general list in the sound settings described above.

To do this:

1. We connect the phone using a USB cable to the computer. Click the “Start” button on your computer desktop and select “My Computer.” Next, you will see an icon for your connected mobile device. It needs to be opened.

2. Find and open the “Media” folder. Next, click on the “Audio” folder located there, and already in it on “Ringtones”. The path to this folder will look something like this: \Media\Audio\Ringtones. This is where you should move the desired music file. If there are no folders with the same name on your device, you can look for where existing ringtones are stored on your mobile device. To do this, remember the name of any and enter it in the search bar. Select your mobile device as the object to search for the file. Having found a file with the name of this ringtone, we place our composition in the same folder where this file is stored.

3. After placing the music file in “Ringtones”, we reboot the device.

After the completed actions, the composition appears in the general list of ring tones. Then everything is done according to the usual scenario. Go to the device settings, then to the “Sound” and “Ringtone” sections. The song you downloaded will be added to the standard sounds from the manufacturer. Click on it and confirm its installation as a call. This procedure will take you no more than 3 minutes.

Simplifying the process of installing your own ringtone on Android versions 5 and 6

Owners of new devices are very lucky. Manufacturers have greatly simplified the process of setting your own ringtone. Now everything is done through the device settings, without using a computer.

1. Go to the device menu and select “Settings”.

2. In this window we are interested in “Sounds and vibration”.

4. Click “Ringtone” again (in some versions of Android the item is called “Ringtone”). If the device supports two SIM cards, you must first select the one on which you want to change the call. A window with preinstalled musical compositions appears in front of us.

5. Scroll the list of songs to the very end and select the button that says “From device memory.”

A small window will appear in front of you. It will ask you what to use - media storage or file manager? If you are setting a melody from existing ones, select the first option, and if you want to install a melody that you have just transferred to your smartphone, select the second.

Let's say you've chosen media storage. In this case, a list of melodies will appear. Select the one you need and click OK.

If the melody is stored in a folder, select a file manager and use it to find the folder where the file is located. Then tap on it and that’s it, the melody will be automatically installed on the contact.

That's it, now this particular melody is set for the subscriber - it will play when he calls you.
