If the antivirus installed on your computer does not detect anything suspicious, but the symptoms are obvious (freezes, strange running processes, autorun.inf appearing on flash drives, etc.), a “disposable antivirus” is necessary. It's easy to use - just download from the link and run it. In this case, during the scan, it is advisable to disable the antivirus that is installed on a permanent basis.

Advantages of disposable antiviruses

1. Free. For home use, almost all one-time antiviruses are free.

Flaws

1. They are not able to protect your computer all the time (there is no module for constant protection) and there is no update of the anti-virus databases.

2. You have to download it again every time so that such an antivirus detects new viruses.

Dr.Web CureIt!

Dr.Web CureIt!- a good one-time antivirus. Knows how to fight running viruses (does not allow itself to be killed during scanning).

HerdProtect

An online antivirus that scans all computer files using 68 antivirus databases. I explained how to use it in a separate article.

This is a good option if you have unlimited internet.

Minus: does not know how to treat infected files.

Plus: You don’t need to download it again to check, the databases are always fresh.

Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool

ESET Online Scanner

Plus Online scanner - no need to worry about downloading new versions with fresh databases. Just open the link or run esetsmartinstaller_rus.exe, the antivirus will start, update and scan your computer for viruses.

Norton Security Scan

Norton Security Scan- another one-time antivirus. You can download the interface in English, but simple.

Checks hard drives very quickly. Requires an Internet connection, just like Eset Online Scanner.

When you first start it, it creates a shortcut to itself, which is strange.

In general, it is better not to use it, since viruses common in Russia enter its database a little late. The newest winlockers (ransomware banners) are unlikely to be detected.

AVZ or Zaitsev Antivirus

Powerful antivirus utility (not a full-fledged antivirus!) for advanced users. There is not a sea of functions, but a whole ocean.

Supports updating anti-virus databases from the Internet. Unlike disposable antiviruses, it cannot treat infected *.exe files. It is more of an “anti-spyware” with many unique additional features. I will quote the words of the author AVZ: “ The utility is a direct analogue of the Trojan Hunter and LavaSoft Ad-aware 6 programs. The primary task of the program is to remove AdWare, SpyWare and Trojan programs.» The archive with the program contains help on all functions; it must be read carefully before the first launch.

Kaspersky VirusDesk is a free service from Kaspersky Lab for checking for viruses online using Kaspersky Anti-Virus. The VirusDesk service is located on the official website kaspersky.ru. Here Kaspersky conducts an online check of files and links.

Viruses and other malicious software try to get into your computer by any means. The danger is posed not only by ordinary files that reach your computer in different ways, but also by links on the Internet leading to infected and fraudulent sites.

Antiviruses are a barrier to viruses - programs that protect your computer in real time. Some users do not use an antivirus on their computer, others use not very reliable antivirus programs, which they themselves do not always trust.

Therefore, checking files and links is necessary. When in doubt, use online virus checking services. Among such services there is a free Kaspersky online service - Kaspersky VirusDesk. This service checks for viruses using Kaspersky Anti-Virus.

Kaspersky VirusDesk informs the user about files and links. To treat your computer, use an anti-virus scanner, an anti-virus, including a free one; in severe cases, a boot disk will help.

To check Kaspersky for viruses online, go to the official website https://virusdesk.kaspersky.ru.

Kaspersky online - file check

Open the Kaspersky VirusDesk website. Here you can check files and links for known threats. Files are checked against Kaspersky Anti-Virus databases and file reputation data.

The service supports files and archives up to 50 MB in size. Several different files can be placed in an archive (ZIP, RAR formats are supported) up to 50 MB in size. For the archive, put the password “virus” or “infected” (without quotes).

The process of checking a file by Kaspersky takes place in several stages:

  1. Drag the file from your computer to the special field. Another way is to add a file from your computer using a special button in the form of a paperclip.
  2. After starting the scan, wait until the file is scanned.
  3. Get the result of a file virus scan.

The Kaspersky VirusDesk service will inform you about the status of the file using three parameters:

  • The file is safe - no threats were detected in the scanned file
  • The file is infected - a threat has been detected in the file, it is unsafe to use
  • The file is suspicious - this file is not safe to use, as in some cases it may pose a threat

The user can report a false positive, or report a new virus.

To do this, click on the “Disagree with the result” button, then enter your email address and transfer the file to Kaspersky Lab for further research.

Kaspersky website check online

The Kaspersky VirusDesk service checks websites using the Kaspersky Security Network reputation database. Kaspersky VirusDesk does not check the content of sites, so the service does not reflect the current state of the site.

To check the Kaspersky website online, follow these steps:

  1. Insert the link (URL) to the site's web page into the field.
  2. Click on the "Check" button.
  3. Get the link check result from Kaspersky Security Network.

Kaspersky VirusDesk shows the reputation level of the link according to the Kaspersky Security Network database:

  • Bad reputation - malicious or phishing link that can harm the user's computer and data
  • Good reputation - safe link
  • Unknown reputation - the KSN database does not have enough information on this link

If you disagree with the scan result, send a link for further research to Kaspersky Lab.

Conclusions of the article

Kaspersky Lab's free service, Kaspersky VirusDesk, checks for files and links to viruses online using Kaspersky Anti-Virus technologies.

A proprietary utility from Kaspersky Lab Kaspersky AVP Tool is a free scanner that quickly and efficiently detects Trojans, viruses, Internet worms and thousands of other threats. They are then either deleted or moved to quarantine.

Kaspersky AVP Tool has a fairly simple appearance. Its installation on an infected computer takes place within a couple of minutes – even if we are talking about Windows Safe Mode. The search for malware is carried out using signature databases and has its own heuristic analyzer.

The latest version of Kaspersky AVP Tool, which you can download from the website, has significantly improved the user interface. The creators of the scanner simplified the installer and configured it to run from flash drives. The treatment of active infection, as well as the self-defense of the process itself, has also been improved. Don’t forget about the use of cloud technologies called Kaspersky Security Network.

Among the features of Kaspersky AVP Tool:

  • A completely free antivirus utility to quickly scan your computer.
  • The program has a simple appearance.
  • Allows you to collect information about the system and makes the creation of treatment scripts completely interactive.
  • Manual and automatic treatment of your PC from Trojans, viruses and worms.

Of course, the price for having a free scanner is that Kaspersky AVP Tool does not provide the user with real-time protection. It also does not include a module for automatically updating virus databases. This utility will not replace a regular antivirus. Therefore, we advise you to install a free antivirus, which you can download here, or purchase a paid one.

For a new PC check (for example, in a week or in a month), the user will need to download this utility again with the latest antivirus databases. Kaspersky AVP Tool does not conflict with other antivirus programs, so it can be used as an additional means of protection.
