Ultraiso. Bootable USB flash drive: how to create. Programs for burning an image to a Linux flash drive

This article describes the key feature of the UltraIso program. A bootable USB flash drive can be created without any problems. It is the algorithm for performing this operation that will be discussed further.

In what cases can you not do without such a flash drive?

First, let's define those cases when we cannot do without this important feature of UltraIso. A bootable flash drive allows you to install an operating system on a computer that does not have a CD-ROM drive. First of all, these are some models of ultrabooks and all netbooks. But, again, this does not mean that this method cannot be applied to a stationary personal computer (not every system unit now has a CD reader) or a laptop. In general, this is a universal solution for all cases. All modern computers, without exception, are equipped with a USB connector. So there will be no problems connecting a flash drive. In this case, the installation speed of the operating system will be many times higher. Data transfers faster from a flash drive than from a CD. Therefore, this installation method is the future.

Choosing an image

Before you make a bootable UltraIso flash drive, you need to select the correct installation version of the operating system. Its demo version can be downloaded from the Internet. It is recommended to use the *.iso format (that is, the file must have this extension). If necessary, it can be made from a CD. To do this, install it in the drive, launch UltraIso, press “F8” and, following the instructions, create a copy on the hard drive of the installation version of the operating system. It is important that the installer source is autoloadable. Although rare, there are times when this important option is missing from the installation version. Therefore, you must definitely pay attention to this.

Which version of the program is better?

UltraIso comes in two versions. The first one is demo and free. Some functions are not available, but the ability to create bootable flash drives is present. The second version is paid. It has more options, but to create such a flash drive, its purchase is not justified. Therefore, most users are recommended to take the first modification of UltraIso.

Installing UltraIso

First you need to download and install UltraIso. without this stage it is impossible. First you need to download this program from the official website. Other versions are not recommended to be used, as their performance leaves much to be desired. Then run the downloaded installer. Following the instructions of the wizard, install this program on your local computer. There is no need to perform any additional settings to create a bootable drive. After this, UltraIso is ready for use.

Creating a bootable flash drive using UltraIso

How to create a bootable USB flash drive? After installation is complete, the order of performing this operation will be as follows.

Once the manipulations are complete, the process can be considered complete, and now you can easily install the operating system from the flash drive. Do not forget that the size of the flash drive must be larger than the operating system installer. That is, if the image occupies 4.4 GB, then the drive in this case must be at least 8 GB. This nuance must be taken into account without fail. Otherwise, it will not be possible to create a bootable drive, and the operating system will display a corresponding message.

Preparing to install the operating system

At the next stage you will no longer have to use the UltraIso program. The bootable USB flash drive is ready. But in order to start the operating system installation process, you need to correctly configure the BIOS of your personal computer. We install the prepared drive in any of the rectangular connectors of the personal computer. Next, when you turn it on, you need to pay attention to the inscription: Press X to setup. In this case, “X” will be the key that you need to press to enter the basic settings of your personal computer. If at the hardware testing stage the logo of the motherboard manufacturer is displayed, then you need to press “Esc”. It is not always possible to figure out the login key the first time and have time to enter the BIOS. Therefore, if you did not have time to click, and the operating system began loading, then you need to restart your personal computer and repeat the operation of entering the basic settings, already knowing the necessary information. Then, using the navigation keys (they have arrows on them), go to the Boot menu item. In it we find the First Boot item. Point the marker at it using the down arrow. At the next stage, using PgUp and PgDn, we indicate to the PC that the first boot source is, for example, a bootable Windows 7 flash drive. UltraIso has already placed the image on it, and it is ready for the installation process. The volume label will be the same as previously specified. Once this manipulation has been completed, press F10. Then you should be asked to save the changes. We answer it positively. After this, the personal computer will restart and boot from the flash drive will begin.

Installation

The installation process from such an operating system drive is identical to exactly the same procedure from a CD made in the same UltraIso program. The Windows bootable USB flash drive is an exact copy of it. When the PC starts booting, press any key when the corresponding message appears. Then set the language, country, monetary units and click “Next”. At the next stage, click on “Install”. We select the one for which we have a key. Then we agree to the terms of the license agreement. To do this, check the box at the bottom of the window and click the “Next” button. At the next stage, select the installation type: complete or update. Then select the logical partition on which the OS will be installed. If necessary, format it using the appropriate command. Further, all operations are performed automatically until you need to set the PC name. Enter it and click “Next”. If necessary, set a password for protection. Then you need to enter the registration key. You can skip this step, but then you will have a trial version for 31 days. Then select security settings, time and system date. Then we set up a local area network. At the final stage, drivers and application programs are installed.

Summary

This article describes one of the most important features of the UltraIso program. Using it, a bootable flash drive can be created without any problems, and even a novice user can solve this problem. To do this, just follow the previously described steps, and you should not have any problems with this procedure. So, feel free to take it and do it.

Increasingly, modern laptops are being produced without an optical drive. Over time, floppy drives and optical disks will disappear altogether, just as floppy disks have already disappeared. Due to the lack of a drive, it is impossible to install the operating system from the disk. In this case, you have to use bootable for installation. In this article we will talk about how to make a bootable USB flash drive using UltraISO.

Step No. 1. Create a boot disk image.

In order to create a bootable USB flash drive, we need a boot disk image in ISO format. If you already have an ISO image, then you can skip this step and go straight to the next step.

Insert the boot disk and run the UltraISO program. Next, on the toolbar, you need to click on the “Create CD image” button or press the F8 button on the keyboard.

After this, the “Create CD/DVD image” window will open in front of you. Here you need to select the folder in which you want to save the resulting image. You also need to make sure that the created image will be saved in ISO format.

Once the process is complete, you will see a message asking you to open the created ISO image.

Click “YES” and proceed to creating a bootable USB flash drive via UltraISO.

Step No. 2. Create a bootable USB flash drive using UltraISO.

In order to make a bootable USB flash drive via UltraISO, we need to open the disk image. If you clicked on the “Yes” button after completing the creation of the ISO image, then you already have a disk image open. If not, then you can open the disk image you need using the "Open" button.

After opening the disk image, files and folders should appear in the UltraISO program window.

After this, a window will open in front of you through UltraISO. Here you need to select a flash drive and click on the “Burn” button.

It should be noted that when creating a bootable flash drive, all data on the flash drive will be deleted. A special window warns about this. To start the process of creating a bootable USB flash drive, click on the “Yes” button.

After completing this process, you will receive a bootable USB flash drive ready to use.

In addition to UltraISO, you can use other programs to create a bootable USB flash drive. For example, Novicorp WinToFlash, UNetBootin, Windows7 USB/DVD Download Tool and others.

In some cases, users need to write a file in ISO format to a flash drive. In general, this is a disk image format that is recorded on regular DVD discs. But in some cases you have to write data in this format to a USB drive. And then you have to use some unusual methods, which we will talk about later.

Typically operating system images are stored in ISO format. And the flash drive on which this very image is stored is called bootable. The OS is then installed from there. There are special programs that allow you to create a bootable drive. You can read more about this in our lesson.

But in this case, we are dealing with a different situation, when it is not the operating system, but some other information that is stored in the ISO format. Then you have to use the same programs as in the lesson above, but with some adjustments, or even other utilities. Let's look at three ways to complete the task.

Method 1: UltraISO

This program is most often used to work with ISO. And to burn the image to removable storage media, follow these simple instructions:

As you can see, the whole difference between the process of transferring an ISO image to a disk and to a flash drive using UltraISO is that different storage media are specified.

Method 2: ISO to USB

ISO to USB is a unique, specialized utility that performs one single task. It consists of recording images onto removable storage media. At the same time, her capabilities within the framework of performing this task are quite wide. This way the user has the opportunity to specify a new drive name and format it to a different file system.

You can also use standard Windows tools, for example, recovery, but this is not always possible, so it is much easier to remove the old system and install a new one.

To restore you will need a disk or .

Let's consider the process of creating an image using the example of recording Windows 8, although “seven” and other operating systems are written the same way.

Step 1. Beginning of work

To perform further actions, you will need to run the program as Administrator, otherwise the system will simply not allow you to do anything.

After you have opened the program, you need to click the “open” menu as shown in the first screenshot and start creating a bootable ultraiso flash drive.

The example shows a prepared . The files themselves are easy to find on the Internet, in particular on torrent trackers. The extension must be ISO, not EXE.

Once you have confirmed the choice of image by clicking the “open” button, a list of used files will be displayed in the right window of the program.

Do not delete or rename anything to avoid any installation errors in the future.

Step 2. Preparing an image for recording

A pop-up window will appear again, once again warning that the data will be deleted. We agree with this and move on.

Now the fun begins - direct recording of the OS. Ultraiso multiboot flash drive started to be created , which will take some time.

The program itself works quite quickly and efficiently, but the system often slows down the entire creation process. Be patient.

Upon completion of the process, a “Recording complete” notification will be displayed in the logs! This means that our flash drive with Windows 8 is ready for use.

Since we no longer need UltraISO services, the program can be closed.

When you connect the flash drive to the PC a second time, something similar to the one shown in the screenshot should appear.

Depending on the image, its name may differ from this. The picture shows just an example of the final version.

Greetings to all readers. It's about recording ISO image on USB flash drive, not just recording, but also loading from a USB drive with the function BOOT. Because just unpack ISO image and copying to a flash drive is easy. All you need is a program WinRAR, because ISO image partially considered an archive file. Well, the most important question is - why on a USB drive? The answer to this question is very simple - a USB drive does not scratch like a disk, lasts longer with constant use of the device, capacity in a small pocket and other little things.

Method one:

In this method, the most important thing is that ISO image there must be a file bootmgr(without any extension). To do this, just open ISO image any archiver (for example WinRAR). To do this, use the context menu with the right mouse button (if there is no file association for this extension) and select nm item " To open with" Further " Select another application", or select from an existing list or by clicking the " button Review" (alternative - More app > Find another app on this PC, everything depends on Windows OS) and selecting the path to the software (in our case WinRAR) press the button " Open"(see Windows 10 pictures).

We see that such a file exists.

Download the simplest recording utility ISO image to a USB drive and open it. In the window that opens, click the button " Yes" and selecting ISO image and press " Open"

Don't forget to insert the USB drive into the appropriate slot and press the " Installation". After which formatting will begin in a certain format, and then copying of files to the USB drive will begin.

After completion, the utility will not inform you about this, but will simply close the process of copying files, and the utility will remain open. Press the button " QemuTester"and we see that our flash drive is working.

Method two:

This method must also contain the file bootmgr V ISO image, without it, as we understand, the BOOT function will not work. Open the program, select from the menu File > Open... and choosing our ISO file press " Open".
In the first upper part we have files and folders with the name of the image. Go to the Boot menu > Burn Hard Disk Image...

In the window that appears, select our flash drive, set the recording method USB-HDD+ and press the button " Write down"

We are warned that all data on the USB drive will be erased, so if there is important information, copy it to the computer and agree with the appropriate button.
The recording process is not that fast, so you can calmly drink tea.

The recording is complete, the flash drive is ready. Unfortunately, UltraISO does not have testing like the utility in the first method, so to check it we will need to restart the computer or use the USBboot Installer++ utility.

Method three:

In this method we will use the utility and will not look to see if the file exists bootmgr V ISO image.
Download (pictures may differ depending on the version).
We unpack the archive to a place convenient for you.

We go to the unpacked folder and launch it depending on the bit depth of the OS and in the window that opens, select our flash drive and click .

Check the boxes as shown in the figure and click " Prepare disk".

After which the command line will open and prepare your flash drive, after completion the command line will close itself.

In the same window, click " Install Grub4DOS".

A window will appear with installation information install grub4dostoMBR.

We agree with the " YES".

The bootable USB flash drive is almost ready. Now let's copy our ISO file to the root of the flash drive and create a text document (with any name for now), open it and paste the following text

title Start WXPOEM RU
map --unmap=0:0xff
map --unhook
root(hd0,0)
map /WXPOEM_RU.iso (0xff)
map --hook
root (0xff)
configfile /grub4dos.lst || chainloader (0xff)
map --unmap=0:0xff

Where you just need to know" title Start WXPOEM RU" is the name of the boot image (displayed in the boot menu, title do not wash). " map /WXPOEM_RU.iso (0xff)" way to ISO image, i.e. you just need to change the name ISO file.
Now we rename the text document with the name menu and change the extension txt on lst, it should work menu.lst.

Return to , check the box Test in QEMU and press the button GO.

Testing our bootable USB flash drive. A window will appear with a test download and with only one inscription " Start WXPOEM RU"

Click " Enter"As we can see, everything worked out.
