Creating a calendar in Photoshop. Create a calendar interface for the current month in Photoshop

This tutorial will give you an idea of how you can create a custom calendar in Photoshop. Without delving into the details of creating collages, let’s look at the main stages of creating a calendar.

Instructions

Step 1

In order to make a calendar in Photoshop, we need a grid. The grid can be downloaded from the Internet by entering the appropriate request. By pressing the Ctrl+N keys, open a new document. In the “Set” menu, select A4 format with a white background

Step 2

After pressing the Ctrl+R keys, the “Ruler” appears, thanks to which we designate our lines. These lines will be easy to navigate when placing images. Go to “View” - “New Guide” and in the new window use the option “Orientation” - “Horizontal”. In the “Regulations” we write 50% and confirm.

Step 3

At a distance of 9 cm from the first guide, create a new one. To do this, use the “Ruler” tool, unchecking the “Use measurement scale” checkbox. We draw a line down in relation to the guide, then align it to get rid of kinks. Next, hold down the Ctrl button and drag to the edge of the stretched line using the “Ruler” tool. We repeat the same procedure in the opposite direction from the center line.

Step 4

Create two images, one for each side of the calendar. Thanks to “Free Transformation”, by pressing the Ctrl+T buttons, we place a pattern on the document, after which, using the “Rectangular Area” function, we select a place for the image. Transform the selection using Ctrl+I and pressing Del. We adjust the layer a little using the blur function.

Step 5

Take the second image and place it on the other side of the document. To flip or reduce the image, use Free Transform.

Step 6

It's time to place the calendar grid. In order to avoid problems with reading, we will place the first six months on one side, and the second part on the other. To type the year, use the “Text” tool. Thanks to the tool, you can change the color and transparency, increase or decrease the font and change the position. You can make a frame around the edges, it will look prettier.

Step 7

Let's start working on the second side. Rotate the canvas 2 times 90 degrees clockwise. We do the same with the grid. Then we place the second image, text and grid, beautifully designed.

Step 8

Having hidden the guides, we proceed to printing the file. The print format must be A4. Don’t forget to check the “Actual size” checkbox so that the calendar fits on an A4 sheet.

We told you about how to make a calendar in Photoshop using 8 steps. For the calendar image, you can choose a family photo, a natural landscape, your favorite animal, or your favorite work by a famous artist.

Step 1. To begin, open a new document ( Ctrl+N), in the window that appears, in the section Kit, select International paper sizeSize A4. (Permission required 300 squeak/inch, background color is white).

Call Ruler(Ctrl+R) on the document. Now we need to designate the lines along which we will be guided when arranging the images, and at the end of the work (after printing), using these designations we will bend the sheet to obtain the desired shape of the calendar.
To do this, go to View/New Guide (View/NewGuide). In the window that appears, select Orientation (Orientation) – Horizontal (horizontal), and in Position (Position) write 50% , press Yes.

Now we need a new guide at a distance from the first one in 9 cm.
Take the tool Ruler (RuletTool (I)), in the tool settings, uncheck the box next to Use a measurement scale (UseMeasurementscale), Then Width And Height your measurements will be in centimeters. Drag a line from the Guide down (the toolbar will show Line Height, we need approx. 9 cm.). Align the line so that it is without kinks. Then, hold down the key Ctrl and by clicking on the Ruler at the top (which is located along the edges of the document) draw out another guide, drag it to the edge of the line that we stretched with the tool Ruler (RuletTool (I))(the guide itself will stick directly to the edge).

We do the same thing, in the opposite direction from the “central” Guide.
As a result, you should have a document divided into four parts by the Guides.

*I have reduced the size of the sheet to show it in full*

Step 2. According to my idea, there will be a different picture on each side of the calendar (so that you don’t get tired of the same thing for the whole year). Let's start making the first side. For the background I chose this picture, with a frosty pattern:

By placing (using Free Transformation (Ctrl+T)) there is a pattern on the document, I use the tool Rectangular area (M) I selected the side in which the drawing will be located (which is 9 cm), then Inverted (Ctrl+I) highlight and press Delete.

I adjusted the layer a little and applied to it Levels ( Levels (Ctrl+L)), Gaussian blur(Gaussian Blur), reduced Opacity(Opacity) layer.

Then I took a picture of a tiger cub.

I separated the tiger cub from the background. I used for this Channels (Channels)(you can watch the technique in the video tutorial: Channels – lesson 2. Highlighting hair. We place the tiger cub in our document, do not forget that there should be space left for the calendar grid.

Then, I found a clipart with snow-covered spruce branches and laid them (the branches) along the contour of the side we are making (using Free Transformation / Flip Horizontally, Vertically and reduce size). As a result, this is what I got.

Then we merge all the layers related to the spruce branches (by selecting all the layers with spruce trees and clicking Ctrl+E). While on the resulting layer with spruce trees, use the tool Rectangular area (M) select our side, then invert the selection and delete the excess (we repeat what we did at the beginning of the second step).

Step 3. Now we place the calendar grid (to make it more readable, I decided to make it half a year on each side). Tool Text (T), write 2010 (you can change the size, position, opacity and color of the layer with the text 2010).
Finally, with this side, we make a frame around the edges.

Step 4. Let's move on to the second side.
Go to Image/Rotate canvas/90 degrees clockwise(Image/Image Rotation/90 CW). Do this twice.
Your document will turn over, and we will be able to do the second side normally (it is important to turn it 90s clockwise, but not Flip vertically this function will not work, because when printing, you will have an incorrect arrangement of numbers and patterns (like a reflection in a mirror)).

The principle of designing the second side is the same as what we did with the first side. We are looking for a beautiful picture for the background, placing it on the side, removing the excess (correcting, brightening, reducing the opacity).

We are looking for something to frame the edges (I decided that these would be palm leaves).

Add a calendar grid, frame and text 2010.

As a result, our work will look like this:

*The guides can already be hidden (Ctrl+H)*

Step 5. We print the result (you need to print exactly the size A4, perhaps when printing, you will need to check the box - Print actual size(this depends on the printer itself and its settings).

*well, if you have thick paper, such as glossy photo paper, then the calendar will last longer and be more stable*

Then we fold the printed sheet in half, and then turn the edges inward. The folded edges will serve as a support for our calendar.

Glue the bottom with glue, or fasten it with a stapler and that’s it, you should end up with a calendar-house like this.

Good day to everyone, my dear friends and readers. You know? This is how you walk past different stalls or bookstores, and you see a bunch of different calendars - large, small, beautiful and not so beautiful. I was thinking that it’s not at all necessary to take some kind of ready-made solution, you can either order something from a photo salon, or even do it yourself, and quickly and easily.

This is where the idea arose to write an article for you on how to make a calendar in Photoshop and enjoy your own design. So, are you ready to make your own calendar? Then let's go! But first, take materials for work. Inside the downloaded materials you should have several images, which include calendar grids, a photo (main image) and a texture with raindrops.

  1. First, we need to open Photoshop itself and with any background. Let it be 2048x1536 pixels.
  2. Now take a picture of a girl and open it in Photoshop. If you opened it in a new document, then transfer it to our newly created and currently empty image...
  3. Next, adjust the photo to the size of our canvas. To do this, use a tool and pull the corners. After that, apply the change by pressing Enter.
  4. Now let's insert the calendar grid itself. Just open it in a separate tab and use it to transfer it to the layer with the girl. Make sure that the layer with this mesh is higher than the layer with the girl.
And by the way, don’t forget to adjust it to the right size, otherwise it won’t look very nice, to put it mildly. To do this, press again CTRL+T to use free transform. It should look something like this.
  5. Now load the raindrops texture onto a separate document, then move it to our raw calendar and again adjust the size to the image format. Let the rain texture be placed above the layer with the girl’s photo.
  6. And then we need to do something so that it looks like the drops are in the photograph. To do this, simply step on the texture layer and select the “Multiply” blending option.
  7. It turned out a little dark, didn't it? Well, that's okay. While on the same droplet layer, simply set the Opacity to 50%. In my opinion, it’s quite good for a calendar that was put together independently in a couple of minutes.

Voila. We have a simple, but at the same time hand-made calendar. You can upload any photos you like. I know some people like to upload family photos, some just with their other half, others with cars, etc. The choice is huge). Tell me, did you succeed?

Of course, these are not all the possibilities. You can make this picture much more impressive and interesting. Let's look at an example.

Additional processing

Let's still make our brainchild more effective, after all, photoshop is also intended for this.

Well, this is how I showed it, purely as an example. You can play with other settings, with transformation, saturation, or even add several photos to one sheet, etc. In general, I still plan to tell you more about processing photos and creating collages. This is generally a very cool thing.

Well, if anyone has any confusion with this, I recommend that you watch the video that I made specifically for this lesson. I think that now everything should be extremely clear).

By the way, what we did today is essentially a simple collage. Interesting, right? But if you want to learn how to create more complex and interesting collages, then I recommend you watch one amazing video course about this theme. Everything is told in very detail and interestingly, and you will work not with one example, but with several.

Well, this is where I end my lesson-article. I hope that you liked it, because now, if you wish, you can make your own calendar in a matter of minutes. Later I plan to talk about creating more complex calendar layouts. It will be even more interesting, so do not forget to subscribe to my blog updates so as not to miss anything interesting.

Well, I say goodbye to you for today. I look forward to seeing you in my next articles. Bye bye!

Best regards, Dmitry Kostin.

1. Create a new document 2480x3508px, 300dpi,
background is transparent.

2.We need to make boundaries beyond which
You shouldn't mess around when creating calendar sheets.
The fact is that for printing and binding
you need a certain place that is "eat"
these actions.

1) Go to the menu -
editing - settings - units of measurement...
Set to rulers "cm"

Click OK.

2) Go to the menu - view - rulers.
Opened in the working window
vertical and horizontal rulers

3) In the navigator, set the document visibility to 50%
(open navigator - menu - window - navigator)

4) On the work area, using scrolling,
set the visibility of the document like this:
to the upper right corner (beginning of the document)
fell on the junction of the rulers.
You will understand the correct location,
seeing zeros at the beginning of each line.

5) For stitching you need to leave 1-1.5 cm
Drag the guide with the left mouse button pressed from the top ruler,
and look at the value on the side ruler.
I pulled up to 1.5 cm.
There are different types of brochures, including deep ones,
therefore it is better to indent more.

6) For the left border of the document:
and look at the value on the top.

7) For the right border:
move the bottom scroll of the work area
right all the way

Pull the guide from the side ruler,
and look at the value on the top,

8) For the lower border:
move the side scrolling of the work area
right all the way

Pull the guide from the top ruler,
and look at the value on the side,
We count down in reverse order,
those. from the value at the document boundary.

9) Reduce the visibility of the document in the navigator,
to make it convenient to continue working,
we see this picture.

By the way, change the color of the guides and more
You can go to the menu - editing - settings -
guides, grid, fragments

10) Tools "rectangular area"
outline the rectangle obtained from the guides,
Fill it with white on a new layer.
Deselect the layer and name it “body”

Guides can be removed
(menu - view - delete guides)

This lesson point (point 2 with subpoints)
I definitely recommend doing it
so as not to have to worry about leveling later -
business is 1 minute.

with the name "Calendar Sheet"

Calendar grid.

3. To make it more convenient to perform calculations for the grid,
you need to create a new document.
We do this:

1) Load the selection of the “body” layer
(menu - selection - load selected area),
don't forget that the layer whose selection you are loading
must be active in the layers panel
(the activity of a layer is determined by the presence of a color different from other layers,
in my case - blue;
to make a layer active - in the layers panel
left-click on the desired layer).

2) Menu - editing - copy.

3) Menu - file - create
A window with the copied data will open

Click OK.
The document has been created.

4.For the grid, set aside 45% of the height of the document.

1) Define a new horizontal guide,
equal to 55%
(menu - view - new guide)

2) Using the "frame" tool
circle the required 45%

Press "Enter" to continue working

5. Vertical marking.
Our grid will have the days of the week at the top,
This means that the width of the document must be divided by 7.
Let's take the width as 100%
100:7 approximately 14.5%
Let's go make guides
Create 6 VERTICAL guides:

6. Horizontal marking.
Tax - 1 column for days of the week, 6 for numbers,
also 7, as for vertical markings.
This means we create guides with the same parameters,
but HORIZONTALLY:
14,5%, 29%, 43,5%, 58%, 72,5%, 86%
We get

7. Dachshund, we’ve done everything to write the text.
First we write the days of the week.
Choose a font that is clearly visible
if necessary, activate the "bold" position in the "symbol" panel
read about this panel HERE
My parameters and font name on the screen

1) Write the first day of the week,
position it in the middle in the cell
and pull the guide from above,
which will mark the lower border of the letters,
which will allow you to write letters on one line,
they will not “dance”.

The whole series with days of the week,
in the layers panel I put everything in a group
"Days of the week"

2) We look at the calendar 2013, January -
the month starts on Tuesday
Write the number in the desired cell
(I increased the font size to 48pt),
drag the guide for the lower border of the numbers from above,
and pull the guides from the side,
which will determine the boundary of the numbers in the vertical row.
I determined the border by the last letter of the week.

The entire January grid

3) Finally, let’s apply red to Sunday
and Sundays.
Opening the "days of the week" group
Activate the "Sun" layer and apply the "Color Overlay" style
(second icon from the left at the bottom of the layers panel)

Or right-click on the layer,
Select "overlay options" from the list

Let's copy the style
(right click on the layer,
select - copy layer style)

Open the "numbers" group
hold down the Ctrl key
and left-click on Sunday dates
With this action we select the necessary layers.

Now that the desired layers are selected,
right-click on any selected layer,
select from the list - paste a style.

We get

Using the same method, you can change the color of the rest of the text.
I gave black as a base.

8. Let's make an edging for the cells, it may come in handy.

1) Set up the pencil tool
which we will use when tracing the contour.
activate the round hard brush,
set the size to 5 pixels, color black

2) Activate the pen tool
Place the first anchor point on the guide.

3) Scroll to another document border
and put the second point

4) go lower and put a point on another guide

We repeat from 3 subparagraphs until we get around
all horizontal cell guides.

5) Create a new layer,
then right-click on the document,
select from the list - trace the outline

6) In the tool selection window, activate the “pencil”
We do NOT check the “pressure” box.

Click OK and get a stroke.
The outline can be deleted in the "outline" panel
(right-click on the outline,
select from the list - delete contour

You can also add a line over the days of the week.

7) In the same way we make a contour and stroke
vertical guides.

Removing the guides, we get

Crop the document with the Frame Tool.
to remove excess parts of the outline stroke,
which are outside the visibility of the document.

In the layers panel it looks like this

Save the file in psd format
with the name "Grid".

Advice:
some months look the same in numbers.
Groups with such months can be duplicated and renamed.
And further:
do not forget to turn off the visibility of extra numbers (days) in months,
and watch out for Sundays -
unnecessary to clear from color overlay,
Paste on the ones you need.

Creating a grid for 12 months took me about an hour
(the lesson took 10 times longer to write)
So, if you want your own original mesh,
in which you can edit the font,
apply styles, resize,
then don’t waste your time looking for a ready-made one,
but to create your own.

9. On the “Grid” file, duplicate the “horizontal” layer,
apply the “dotted strokes” layer styles to the duplicate
This is the standard set of the program.
If you don't have these styles in the Layers panel,
then open the list by clicking on the arrow
in the upper right corner of the panel and select

Of all the dotted lines styles, I chose this one.

We get

10. Set the layer style and apply the sharpening filter:
menu - filter - sharpening - smart sharpening
with maximum effect

11. Looking carefully, you can see
that the lines are different.
This will be noticeable on print, especially
if you print on A3 format,
and the given size of the calendar sheet allows this.
I advise you to choose the optimal line,
select it with the rectangular marquee tool,
cut or copy the selection to a separate layer,
duplicate and place duplicates in their places,
then combine all the dotted lines into one layer
with the name "horizontal strokes".
In any case, that's exactly what I did.
For ease of use, I applied red color
to the "horizontal" layer

After completing the dotted line,
cleared the “horizontal” layer from color overlay,
and deleted the copy of the layer.

Since I will need dotted lines for all months,
save the file with the changes
(menu - file - save)

12. I completely forgot - I need to write the names of the months!

1) Increase the canvas size by 200 pixels up
(menu - image - canvas size)

2) Open a group with a month and
We write the name of the month and year in the same font.
I wrote the letters in size 36pt, and the numbers in 48pt.
To change the size of numbers you need:
After writing, select the numbers with the left mouse button
and change the size in the "symbol" panel
As a result we get

3) For the remaining months, duplicate this text layer,
remove duplicates in groups with months,
Instead of January, write the name of the month of the group.

Save the file with changes
(menu - file - save)

13. Select the layer with dotted lines,
groups "days of the week" and "January"
Let me remind you that selecting layers in order
do it with the Shift key held down,
and selectively selecting layers while holding down the Ctrl key
Now we need to make a selective selection,
so hold down the Ctrl key

Merge the selection into a layer
(menu - layers - merge layers)
We get a layer, call it “mesh”

14. Transfer this layer to the “Calendar Sheet” file,
and close the “Grid” file without saving -
this means that when closing the file a window will pop up,
in which you need to click on NO

15. Place the grid at the bottom of the document

Everything that I have written in this lesson up to this point is
basis for creating a desk calendar.
Next you must turn on your imagination
for designing calendar sheets,
and I will only briefly describe the design of one sheet.
My calendar will have cutouts for photos,
The theme is most likely children's.

16. Design of the sheet for January.

1) I open three files with paper for one document
from my "Winter Style" set - link
I put the layers in a group called “background”,
I transfer it to the calendar sheet.

2) Open the round frame template,
which is described in the lesson "Frames - cutouts" - read the lesson
I transfer it to the calendar sheet.
I turn on the “body” layer so as not to go beyond the acceptable boundaries.
I determine the vertical alignment using a new guide
50% vertical

Do not take into account distortions on the screen,
These are bugs in the visibility of the thumbnail image.

3) Load the selection of the layer with the frame,
I switch to a dark layer with paper without snowflakes
and copy the selection to a new layer.
In the layers panel I place the layer with the frame template on top,
I call the layer “frame”, and the layer with the template “shadow”.

4) Apply to the “frame” layer
"inner glow" layer effect,
settings on the screen.

5) I make a highlight on the frame.
For this:
oval area tool
make a round selection

I create a new layer,
In the layers panel I place it above the “frame” layer,
I make a white stroke of 20 pixels in the middle,
I deselect.

Loading the selection of the "frame" layer,
go to the stroke layer and apply a filter
"Gaussian blur with a radius of 21 pixels,
I deselect, I get

Intensifying the highlight by duplicating the layer
and reducing the fill of the duplicate to 70%

I remove all layers related to the frame into the “frame” group.

Layers panel.

7) Go to the “background” group,
I use masks.
Activate the Rectangular Marquee Tool
I set the feathering to 250 pixels.
I make two selections

8) I clear the selected area,
I deselect it and get this look

9) Go to the “grid” layer,
Activate the straight lasso tool
in the tool settings I activate the position
"add selection"
I highlight all the red values

10) Cut it out onto a separate layer
(menu - layers - new - cut to new layer)
Only black values remain on the “mesh” layer

11) Apply the layer style "color overlay"
to the "grid" layer

Minor correction to background color balance
and the calendar sheet is ready.
View original size - link
I save a file called "01January" in two formats:
worker in psd, one layer on a transparent background in png

In conclusion, I would like to give advice:
remove all shadows inside the photo cutout,
They are colored and may look ugly.
You can always create a shadow when adding a photo.

The objective of the lesson is completed.

Hello! In this Photoshop tutorial, I will try to tell you how to quickly make a desk calendar like this.

I will say right away that the lesson is not intended to tell a story about how collages are made, so I won’t go into too much detail and go into detail about making a collage for this calendar (there are enough lessons on the site).
I want to show how you can design and make such a Calendar yourself. To work, you will need a calendar grid, which you can download.

Step 1. To begin, open a new document ( Ctrl+N), in the window that appears, in the section Kit, select International paper size - SizeA4.

In the window that appears, select Orientation (Orientation) - Horizontal (horizontal), and in Position(Position) write 50% , press Yes.

I used for this Channels (Channels)(you can watch the technique in the video tutorial: Channels - lesson 2.

In this lesson I showed the principle of how to make such a calendar.
You, in turn, can make your own design: place a photo of your child, loved one, friends, or just your favorite picture.
Or place all 12 months on each side, or on the other side, so that there is one month on each side, and make six such calendars.
Or maybe make one side a title page, with a nice picture, and place a calendar grid on the other side.
There are a lot of design options.

I hope you liked the lesson and you will be able to please yourself and your loved ones with a modest gift in the form of a desk calendar.
