Make the resolution 4 3. What will stretching the image give?

Black bars on the sides of the screen are a common problem for those who like to game on laptops and rectangular monitors. It's unsightly, inconvenient and distracting. But, fortunately, the problem can always be eliminated. Let's figure out how to stretch 4:3 to the full screen on a laptop.

What does image stretching do?

The settings of the game itself allow you to create a widescreen image. But it simply increases the viewing angle, although it removes the black stripes on the sides. For real treasurers, this is not the most profitable option.

Therefore, you can use another method - stretching. What are its advantages:

  • easier to aim - the enemy visually becomes wider due to image deformation;
  • the mouse begins to move faster sideways, while maintaining vertical speed;
  • aesthetic pleasure - black bars do not distract, the entire screen area is used.

If this is what you need, then let’s start analyzing how to stretch an image in CS GO!

Game and video card settings

How to stretch 4:3 to the entire screen so that it doesn't turn out to be 16:9? Easily. But to do this you will have to go further than the game settings. Now we will learn how to make 4:3 in the form of a rectangle. Even on awkward Windows 10.

First you will have to set the settings that are necessary to stretch the game. This is a 4:3 format (square) with a resolution of 1024x768 pixels, display mode is full screen. All methods work with such a base. After saving the settings, you need to close CS GO.

Then you will have to open the Game Library on Steam and find CS GO among the list. Then right-click on it and open “Properties”. Here we need the “Launch Options” section.

A window will appear with a line into which you need to copy two commands:

-window -noborder

With their help, the game will launch in a window, but without frames. After this, you will have to tinker a little with the settings of the video card itself. In this case, the image outside the game will also be stretched. So, if this option does not suit you on a regular basis, you can either reconfigure it every time before playing, or try other methods.

So, most laptops have an Intel chip installed in addition to an NVidia or AMD video card. We will work through him. Necessary:

  1. Select the line “Graphic characteristics”;
  2. In the new window, click on the square labeled “Display”;
  3. Set the same resolution as the game (1024x768);
  4. At the bottom, find the “Zooming” section and check the “Zoom to full screen” checkbox;
  5. Save the settings and close the panel.

After this, the image will change. You can safely enter the game and enjoy the enlarged models. The result will be a standard 4:3, stretched onto a rectangular monitor. In some cases, especially on Windows 10, there will be no effect.

For NVidia and AMD

Video card drivers allow you to separately configure game stretching. Therefore, you can work through them. But first, we set the standard parameters in the game (4:3 and 1024x768). After which we proceed directly to stretching CS GO 4:3.

  1. Right-click on the desktop;
  2. Select “NVidia Control Panel”;
  3. Find “Adjusting the size and position of the desktop”;
  4. Set the “Full screen” option;
  5. Save settings.

Attention! If there is no such item, you need to reinstall the drivers for the video card. The reduced functionality of the control panel is a problem of crookedly installed drivers.

  1. Similarly, right-click on the desktop;
  2. Select "Graphics Properties" from AMD;
  3. In the window that opens, click on the “Games” tab;
  4. Find in the CS GO list;
  5. Click on “Profile Settings”;
  6. Select “Display scaling” and check “Full panel”;

Noticing the enemy before he notices you is almost a guarantee of victory. The one who shoots first often wins. Therefore, it’s worth learning how to stretch the screen and make the resolution 4 by 3 in Fortnite: this way the eye will scan a larger area, which will allow you to see the enemy almost immediately.

What to do?

It’s also worth saying that it’s possible to make the 4 by 3 resolution in Fortnite clearer. We chose 1024 as an example. You are free to take any of the following (enter the first digit in X, the second in Y):

  • 1600×1200;
  • 1400×1050;
  • 1280x960;
  • 800×600;
  • 640x480;
  • 320x240.

I'd like to see who would choose the last three... This is already a relic of the past, although people who played Counter-Strike 1.6, Half-Life or any other games of the late 90s-early 2000s remember very well the times when 1024x768 was considered chic. But we have deviated somewhat from the topic...

Are you banned for 4v3 in Fortnite? Of course not! You are free to put the numbers that you like best. As long as there is no need to get involved in different types of competitions, you are fine. So hurry up how to make a 4x3 resolution in Fortnite - this will help in the battle for the highest place with TOP-1 and when completing tests.

  7. Return to the main screen of the Graphics Control Panel;
  8. Click on the “Display” tab;
  9. Enable "GPU Scaling".

Instead of these settings, if you want to stretch all the games at once, you can immediately go to “Display” and turn on “GPU Scaling”, and then select the “Full Panel” scaling mode.

After this, the screen in CS GO stretches as planned. But the image on the entire computer will not suffer. Therefore, there will be no need to constantly change settings. Moreover, the method even works on Windows 10.

If you just want to increase the viewing angle

When you don’t need to spoil the image by making it disproportionate and elongated, you can simply change the format in the settings and expand the screen. To do this you need:

  1. Login to CS GO;
  2. Select Settings;
  3. In the “Screen Format” section, set the banal 16:9.

After this, the viewing angle in the game will be higher, and the image will not be spoiled by stretching. There is no practical benefit from this, as such, but aesthetic feelings do not suffer. But 4:3 full screen is more for those who want to play better, but easier.

4:3 or black stripes on the sides

1280x1024 is for monitors with a 5:4 ratio. Simple math. Either you've got something wrong, or you've played in the wrong resolution before and the graphics were severely distorted.

Try it if you want to set it to 1366:768 - the text is large and the format is 16:9.

It’s possible, of course, that I’m confusing something; there might have been distortions, but I didn’t notice them. The fact is that any resolution now except 1920 by 1080 does not stretch across the entire screen but leaves empty space on the sides.

1920x1080 is the maximum full resolution of the monitor (no window borders, no taskbar). To play in a window, you will have a resolution of 1904x1012.

4:3 format, Full HD resolution, does it happen?

Ask your customers, is the TV by chance not “Horizon”?
We need to take the crap out of our customers’ ears and explain everything that they don’t understand.

Volodya, what are you doing? Screen size and resolution - what's the problem?

Shoot 1080 but at 4x3. In editing you will trim off the excess.

Mlyn, when they mold 21x9 from the usual 16x9 - everyone is silent about it.

PS I have one of the TVs - a relatively old Philips mach-line 29-inch picture tube. 29 inches. Twenty nine. 4x3. By the way, it can handle any plasma in flight for a price of up to a hundred.

Bilbo wrote:

Why not? You can either change the pixel proportions (a terrible ugliness) or the black bars along the edge of the screen. It also looks like crap, but in principle it’s possible to put it in 4:3. (wrote bullshit)
In short - I tried it in Vegas - when you change the pixel proportion in the project characteristics, the image is not stretched, but just stripes are added - it looks more or less.

Now the point is not in quality (resolution), but in the proportion of the screen.

Apparently the client wanted a high quality video to watch on a regular (most likely CRT) TV.

what problems? in normal viewing mode, the 16x9 image will be framed on the sides. the stripes will “go away” on the 4x3 screen. or create a project in 4x3 with 1080 settings. That's all. what's the problem?

Igor Turchkov wrote:

Dim, why is this gimora needed? Trim. It’s even clear why 21x9 is made from 16x9. But here?

Igor, it’s just when I’m looking for a wide screen that I DON’T CLEAR - because I don’t see a quarter of the picture, and all sorts of gentlemen-tops from the VL forum impose black bars on me instead of a full screen.

And the client, when watching a video on 4x3, is also forced to observe black bars - above and below. I used to watch all my films on a kinescope. The image is bomb, but if you don’t scale the picture—don’t stretch it and fill the entire screen—you’ll see a letterbox (letterbox slot). Many, I bet, still don’t know what exactly letterbox 4x3 or panscan 4x3 is and how all this differs from 16x9.

So, Igor, I’m sure that the client is not happy with the black bars along the horizon of the screen and wants to avoid worrying about it. Well, in this situation it’s easier than a steamed turnip to nod your head and say I WILL DO it.

Remove as usual and make 4x3.

If it’s fashionable and they pay for it, then yes. But first, tell me, who among the clients understands this? I show my clients videos on a 46-inch Aquos TV. It has a screen size of 16x9. And I can hardly imagine a client’s question or request to dress up a pair of black patamushta stripes so fashionably.

Yes, maybe there will be 21x9 TVs (although I very much doubt it). The main one is huge. a lot of content was released in widescreen 16x9. And now it is produced in 16x9. And television is just moving to 16x9 - the first channel is trying, but it’s crooked and askew (in general, who the hell understands what’s on the screen).

So earlier, in the days of CRT TVs, expensive TVs also had widescreen options (that is, 16x9). But I don’t remember widescreen ones.

And the films themselves dominate in 16x9 - because it is cheaper and easier to produce. And not all cinemas are equipped for wide format. Wide screen - yes, that's it.

Volodya, your client wants loss of pictures and black bars. and pays for it? Funny client, but what are you doing since he pays?

Here's your answer. The client wants full HD on 4x3. Get to work - click two buttons when outputting the project to a file.

The aspect ratio of a YouTube video depends on the format of the video itself and where you play it: in a browser on the website or in an application for Android or iOS.

On the YouTube website, players have an aspect ratio of 16:9. If the video has different proportions, then black bars are added to it - they are needed to properly stretch the video across the screen.

Resolution and aspect ratio

To ensure that the video fills the entire player window, use the following resolutions:

  • 2160p: 3840 x 2160
  • 1440p: 2560 x 1440
  • 1080p: 1920 x 1080
  • 720p: 1280 x 720
  • 480p: 854 x 480
  • 360p: 640 x 360
  • 240p: 426 x 240

To change the location of the video in the player window, use special tags.

What will your video look like?

Videos that do not have an aspect ratio of 16:9 play with black bars on the right and left or along the top and bottom edges.

  • If the aspect ratio of the video is 4:3, then black bars are added to the sides during playback.
  • If the player's aspect ratio changes to 4:3 (for example, when embedding a video on another site), then videos with an aspect ratio of 16:9 are played with bars at the top and bottom.
  • Horizontal stripes are added to anamorphic video in 16:9 and 4:3 players. This only occurs if the original aspect ratio of the video has not been changed.

Note. If you used horizontal stripes in the video before loading, then it will also have vertical stripes in the widescreen player. This will result in a black border surrounding the image, making the video less attractive.
