So I returned to the usual combination of on-screen buttons for Huawei, leaving only the functionality of a fingerprint scanner to the touch key. And yes, during the time spent with Huawei P10, I managed to miss the scanner location on the back, which is usual for the company’s smartphones.

Screen

An interesting feature of the P10 is the protective film attached to the display from the factory. I don’t like it when something interferes with my contact with my smartphone (whether it’s a case, protective film or glass), but many may like Huawei’s move like this. True, they say that there is no oleophobic coating under the film, so be prepared for the fact that after removing the film, using the P10 will not be as comfortable as other flagships. I have no questions about the screen itself. Good IPS matrix with excellent color rendition. Yes, it's "only" FullHD resolution, yes, it's not an AMOLED screen, but it definitely won't disappoint. This is one of the best IPS screens on the market.

Camera

The main feature of the Huawei P10, in my opinion, is the camera developed jointly with Leica (its second generation). The P10 shoots great in almost all situations. If you want your photos to look like they were taken with a DSLR camera, the Huawei P10 can create a similar effect. For the era of social networks and viewing photos from the smartphone screen, this is a more than worthy solution. With the P10 you want to photograph everything that catches your eye, creating small masterpieces. I enjoyed using the camera and would highly recommend the device to anyone looking for a great camera in a smartphone. For clarity, I provide examples of photographs taken on the P10 in the gallery.

Performance and autonomy

Now there are three solutions on the market that are comparable in performance: Snapdragon 835 (found, for example, in the Sony Xperia XZ Premium), Exynos 8895 (Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+) and HiSilicon Kirin 960 developed by Huawei. Huawei P10 and Mate 9 are the first smartphones of 2017 to be released on this chipset. This is a slightly less sophisticated processor than its competitors, but in daily use you will never be able to notice the difference. The same P10 feels in some places even faster than the Samsung Galaxy S8, and this is a very serious claim, considering the 30% lower cost of the device. Overall a solid A+ for the P10 for performance. The autonomy of Huawei's fashionable flagship is not as outstanding as that of its older brother Mate 9, but the smartphone gets through a standard day of life with active use much easier than many competitors (for example, LG G6 or the already mentioned Galaxy S8). The smartphone charges via the USB Type-C connector quite quickly, which is good news.

Maybe save money and take P9?

Why should you buy the P10, and not the P9, which has become noticeably cheaper since its release? I have several arguments in favor of a more recent Huawei smartphone, but whether they are worth the difference of almost 10 thousand rubles is up to you to decide.

1. Improved camera. The camera resolution of the Huawei P10 has changed, now it is 12+20 MP versus 12+12 in the P9. As practice shows, a combination of new modules allows you to take even more impressive pictures, so lovers of mobile photography will love it. And I almost forgot: the front camera was also developed in collaboration with Leica: selfies should be excellent.

2. Design. This is a subjective parameter, but in my eyes the P10 looks more interesting than last year's model. Take blue and green colors for example - none of our competitors have this.

3. Huawei P10 has an NFC module - accordingly, it works with Android Pay. And having paid with a smartphone for the first time, it is difficult to switch back to a card, much less pay in cash.

conclusions

The smartphone can be bought both in classic colors (black, gold) and in brighter and more memorable colors (blue, green) for 36 thousand rubles in official retail. For this money, the smartphone has almost no competitors among this year's flagships. The Galaxy S8 is 19 thousand more expensive, the LG G6 is 16 thousand more expensive. If you're looking for a smartphone that takes great pictures and want to try something new, the Huawei P10 could be an extremely interesting option for you.
