The most profitable connection abroad. Affordable mobile Internet abroad - overview of operators. Roaming abroad. "Big Three"

Can you imagine your life without a mobile phone today? These gadgets have literally become necessary attributes of our existence. Therefore, mobile communications abroad are as necessary as at home.

In addition to the fact that phones give us the opportunity to communicate with friends via the Internet, we do not refuse the opportunity to call them from other countries. How can this be done most profitably and economically?

Currently, and as it has been since the advent of mobile communications, if you cross the border, your operator automatically transfers you to roaming. In fact, this is one of the most convenient ways to stay abroad for a short period of time.

  • Do not miss:

The advantages are obvious:

  • no need to buy a new SIM card;
  • no need to download additional programs.

It is especially important to note that roaming rates are quite reasonable, given short conversations without unnecessary chatter. The main advantage of this choice of mobile communications abroad is eliminating the problem of finding a profitable option for calls. You simply don’t waste time on this, enjoy a good rest and occasionally call home to say that everything is fine with you.

Additional operator services

In addition to the fact that you find yourself in roaming, you often receive a message from the operator listing additional features. They allow you to save a sufficient amount of money while roaming. For example, these could be proposals like this:

  • free incoming calls;
  • discounts for a tariff plan in a certain country;
  • special offer for frequent Internet users;
  • packages of sms or mms messages.

Each operator has a different list of services provided in roaming, but still, it must be said that this type of mobile communication abroad is always the most expensive. Therefore, if you want to communicate within a new country, you will have to look for another option.

Local SIM cards

If you get a SIM card for the country you are in, this will give you a number of advantages:
  • use of favorable tariffs within the country;
  • often unlimited internet;
  • ease of use during long journeys.

However, there are also a number of disadvantages:

  • you cannot save your old phone number;
  • a sufficient amount of time will be spent searching for a new operator;
  • If you do not speak a foreign language, using the tariff plan will be problematic.

If all the above circumstances are not a problem for you, feel free to buy a local SIM card. The only thing, remember that you will have to look for another way to call home.

Travel SIMs

Perhaps one of the most popular methods of communication among avid travelers is calls using travel SIM cards. They give you the following benefits:

  1. Possibility to save the number.
  2. The cheapest calls of all the above options.
  3. Different operators provide different options, which gives you the right to choose the best option for you.

It is important to note that not all operators provide tourist SIM cards. For some, they even work only at strict certain rates. Therefore, be careful when applying for such a card and carefully study all the terms of the tariff plan.

Sometimes incoming calls from home to your new number are very expensive, so don't forget to take care that your loved ones don't lose a lot of money.

In general, today SIP telephony is considered the most progressive and economical method of mobile communication abroad. It works using voice signals over the Internet. And in order to use it, you just need to download a special application and register in the provider’s network.

Skype, Viber and other applications

Today, you will hardly surprise anyone with the presence of these applications on your phone. But for some reason, when a person goes abroad, he instantly forgets about them and begins to panic. Stop worrying! Getting internet abroad is as easy as shelling pears. There are at least two simple ways to do this:

  1. Wi-Fi network of any establishments, taxis and sites.
  2. Local provider for home use.

The first method will be the most profitable, convenient, and most importantly – free for you. You will have to pay for the second one, but, nevertheless, the amount is not very different from the standard prices, and depending on the required number of megabytes per day, you can choose the tariff that suits you.

The Skype and Viber applications allow you to call family and friends simply via the Internet. Therefore, if they also have these programs installed, calls from abroad will not be a problem. The connection quality is excellent, and a nice bonus is added to everything. You probably already guessed that this is a video call from Skype.

Take advantage of all the achievements of the 21st century; when choosing mobile communications abroad, give preference to modern technologies and you will always have profitable communications between countries. Then your vacation will go without any hassle, and you will enjoy it 100%!

Having overcome all the hardships of the economic crisis and endured all the ups and downs of the national currency, residents of the Russian Federation gradually began to return to the practice of vacationing abroad. Mobile operators, on the other hand, also did not remain aloof from all these events and radically changed the tariffs for the use of mobile communication services abroad. We present to your attention an overview of roaming options abroad.

Calls outside the Russian Federation for the lazy

The main purpose of roaming abroad is the immediate ability to receive a call to your mobile phone number, regardless of location. It’s clear that social messengers are convenient, but on vacation you can limit yourself to the rule “if necessary, they will find it themselves,” and limit online communication to a minimum.

In fact, receiving calls on your phone is not that expensive. Let's start with the MTS tariff for roaming “Zero Without Borders”, where for just 95 rubles per day subscription fee you can talk to home completely free of charge. Of course, there are also limitations. Firstly, the duration of the conversation should not exceed 10 minutes (if this norm is exceeded, the tariff will be calculated at a cost of 25 rubles - 1 minute). Secondly, you can only talk for 200 minutes per month within the service, otherwise you will again be charged the above tariff for excess.

Megafon offers roaming abroad in the form of the “World Without Borders” tariff, where you will be charged 59 rubles per day. If you use this tariff service, you will be provided with 40 minutes of incoming calls per day without the right to accumulate.

Beeline offers roaming abroad in the form of debiting the amount of 200 rubles from your account if you receive an incoming call from the Russian Federation while on vacation in distant countries. Once removed, you are given 20 minutes, but the minutes can be used for both incoming and outgoing calls. In other words, you will have the opportunity to call home yourself and, for example, wish your friends a Happy New Year.

Tele2 offers roaming abroad in the form of the “Conversations without Borders” service. For just 5 rubles you can receive every minute of a call, no matter where you are. However, you will also be charged a subscription fee of 5 rubles per day. Among all the above options, this option looks the most profitable, since the operator offers you to talk as much as you see fit.

Favorable roaming tariff for advanced users

Not only users of mobile communication services, but also mobile operators themselves understand that communication through the use of VoIP technology is much more profitable than usual. The main thing is to have access to the Internet and a smartphone with support for all the necessary options.

In this context, we can offer two tariff options from the Megafon and Tele2 operators:

  • Megafon offers its customers to install the eMotion application, which will allow them to receive calls anywhere in the world completely free of charge. Whereas, the cost of outgoing calls, depending on the tariff, will reach a maximum of 1.5 rubles per 1 minute.
  • The Tele2 operator offers its customers the Wi-Fi calling service. To do this, you will also need to download a special application that will allow you to talk on the phone within your tariff plan, no matter where the communication consumer is located.

Internet for the lazy

It's no secret that in addition to the provision of ordinary communication services, the availability of the Internet will also be important for many abroad.

Among the most affordable service options from various operators are the following options:

  • Beeline – 200 rubles for 40 megabytes;
  • Megafon - 350 rubles for 70 megabytes (50 megabytes in some countries);
  • MTS - 380 rubles for 30 megabytes (in some countries 450 rubles - unlimited Internet with a speed limit of up to 128 Kbps after using 100 megabytes).

Internet for advanced

If you need more than a hundred megabytes on vacation and you need the fastest possible speed, then you shouldn’t rely on domestic operators in this case. There is always the option of purchasing a SIM card based on your location, but local tariffs will not always be more favorable than those known in our homeland. The cost of roaming abroad in this case will not be a subscription fee, but a contract fee, that is, you will receive exactly what you bought, without exceeding any limits. In this case, you can offer SIM cards designed specifically for tourists:

  • GoEurope – for 1 euro you get 100 megabytes of traffic.
  • Comfortway – approximately 10 euros per 1 gigabyte of traffic, depending on your location.
  • Dreamsim – 10-25 euros per 1 gigabyte of traffic, depending on the country of location.

It is worth noting that the operator itself automatically determines your location, therefore, there is no need to worry about how to activate roaming abroad. As a rule, all tariff plans described above begin to work immediately after crossing the border. Otherwise, you will be provided with ample SMS information regarding all tariff options and the correct transition to them.

Mobile communications when traveling is always a bit of a “pig in a poke”. It is difficult to understand the tariff plans of mobile operators, and calculating expenses takes a long time. Therefore, the debt for communication services often comes as a surprise to the traveler.

If calls are important

We have selected the most advantageous offers from the Big Four operators and written explanations for each item.

Megaphone

Megafon offers several profitable options at once. If you are traveling to the USA, Canada, Cuba, Tunisia or Mexico, select the “Whole World” option. Subscription fee is 59 rubles for 40 incoming minutes per day. This means that the price of an incoming minute is approximately 1.5 rubles - cheap. If you exceed the tariff, the price of an incoming minute will be 89 rubles.

In European countries, the CIS and Turkey, it is profitable to take the “Around the World” option - all incoming and outgoing calls will cost 13 rubles. per minute and 11 rubles per SMS. If you are traveling to Thailand, UAE, Israel, Vietnam, Australia, Japan or Indonesia, fares will be more expensive.

How to save on outgoing? Call the customer service 0500 and dial the desired number - it's free. The system will drop the call, contact the interlocutor and call you back.

If you often travel for work, it is convenient to connect the “Around the World” tariff to your second SIM card.

You can check everything again and choose an economical roaming option on the Megafon website, indicating the country of residence.

The “Zero without Borders” option is for those who travel for a short time and talk little.

Incoming calls are free, but the call must be no longer than 10 minutes. You can receive no more than 200 minutes of calls per month. If both conditions are violated, you will need to pay 25 rubles per minute. For the first minute of outgoing calls you will pay 85 rubles, but from the second to the sixth - 25 rubles. in a minute. Next - again 85 rubles.

The “Free Travel” option is suitable for those who plan to call home often. For 190 rub. 60 minutes per day for incoming and outgoing calls. If you exceed, pay 10 rubles. in a minute.

Both options will not work if roaming is not enabled. Before traveling, call 0890 and ask the operator to check.

If you want to send SMS cheaper, you can activate the “50 SMS in Europe” service for 250 rubles. or “50 SMS while traveling around the world” for 500 rubles.

Tele2, “Conversations without borders”

For those who answer only the most important calls while on vacation, this is the best option. The subscription fee is 5 rubles per day, and 5 rubles per minute for an incoming call.

To activate the service, dial *143*1# on your phone. Disable - *143*0#.

Beeline, “The most profitable roaming”

Beeline automatically debits you 200 rubles as soon as you receive an incoming call while roaming and provides a package of 20 minutes. The “trick” is that these are both incoming and outgoing minutes. An SMS to Russia costs 10 rubles. If you go online, a 40 MB package is automatically connected. for 200 rub.

If the Internet is important

A win-win option is Wi-Fi in a hotel or cafe. But if you constantly move around the city, it is inconvenient to use. It is better to buy a tourist or local SIM card.

The reception of the hotel or hostel where you are staying will tell you about good local rates. Don’t ignore communication shops: go to several, ask for prices and choose the appropriate tariff.

An interesting life hack for traveling to Europe - Prepaid Sim Card. Many operators have such SIM cards, and they are often sold directly at the airport or large stores. They may ask for a passport for registration.

Internet tariffs for Prepaid Sim Card are fabulous: from 5 euros per gigabyte. For example, the mobile operator Cosmote in Greece sells 5 gigabytes for 30 euros. The SIM card is valid for 30 days.

The most profitable tourist SIM card at the moment is Dreamsim. Everything is simple here: you buy it in Russia before leaving, put it in your smartphone and go on a trip.

Funds are debited for the traffic you use. Prices are calculated per megabyte, but differ from country to country. For example, in England or Thailand a gigabyte costs 10 euros, and in Germany and France - 25.

Cheap calls via the Internet

If you have constant inexpensive Internet and a smartphone, you can call Russia almost at home rates. How?

We install a SIM card with low-cost Internet and install a suitable application. MegaFon has eMotion: with it, incoming calls to a Russian number are free, and outgoing calls cost a maximum of 1.5 rubles per minute.

It is beneficial for MTS subscribers to install MTS Connect. For outgoing calls, the minutes from your package are debited, and for incoming ones - free of charge. You must have an MTS SIM card in your phone, otherwise the application will not work.

Tele2 offers the Wi-Fi calling service. You also install the application and talk if you have Internet access according to your tariff plan.

There is no application for Beeline subscribers yet. But you can install, for example, AvoApp - it is available for both Android and iOS. In the application, save your Russian number using forwarding and you will be able to receive calls in roaming at the price of local ones. For outgoing calls - about 5 cents per minute.

If you don't want to buy a SIM card for the Internet, just connect to any free Wi-Fi - everything will work the same.

Have a good travel!

"Then I compared the cost of international roaming from the Big Three - Beeline, MTS and MegaFon. By researching prices for calls abroad. Today I will compare prices for Internet in roaming, also from Beeline, MTS and MegaFon. Perhaps this post will help you choose an operator for more profitable use of the Internet abroad.

The following will be used for comparison:
1) Three mobile operators: Beeline, MTS, MegaFon.
2) Two countries popular with Russian tourists - Egypt (may open soon), Thailand. I’m not considering Turkey yet, since there are no prospects yet.
3) Prices for the Internet from all three operators, along with options.

Attention: in all options, the selected amount of traffic is available within 24 hours after the first access to the Internet while roaming.

1. Beeline. This operator offers the following separate service “The most profitable Internet in roaming”. The cost of 40MB is 200 rubles per day. Above the norm - 5 rubles per 1 MB. It automatically connects without problems when roaming. Very comfortably! There is no need to type any commands or think about turning it on and off.

2. MegaFon. The company offers tourists two options for connecting to the Internet abroad - “Internet abroad” and “Online vacation”.

"Internet Abroad". In this option, Egypt and Thailand are included in the zone“Popular countries + CIS”. The following prices are offered here: for 10 MB - 329 rubles, for 30 MB - 829 rubles. Requires plugging and unplugging.

"Vacation online". The cost of connecting the option is 30 rubles. Then the cost of 1MB of traffic is 19 rubles. This option will only work in Egypt. It will no longer be suitable for Thailand.

3. MTS. The company offers several options "BIT Abroad", "Maxi BIT Abroad" and "Super BIT Abroad". There is no connection fee for all options. Requires disconnection and connection. All options work in Egypt and Thailand

"BIT Abroad". 30 MB - 300 rubles.
"Maxi BIT abroad." 70MB - 600 rubles
"Super BIT abroad." 200 MB - 1500 rubles.

And now we can summarize. As you can see, the most affordable Internet in roaming (Egypt and Thailand) is offered by Beeline - 200 rubles for 40 MB.

In second place in terms of availability of mobile Internet in roaming is MTS. Here, in the cheapest option “BIT abroad”, the Internet can be purchased for 300 rubles per day, receiving 30 MB.

MegaFon has the most expensive internet. In the “Internet Abroad” option the cost is 329 rubles for only 10MB. In the "Online Vacation" option, 1MB - 19 rubles. That is, 10MB is already 190 rubles. Also expensive.

P/S All these comparisons are my personal views and opinions, obtained based on information on the operators’ websites -

Against the backdrop of the abolition of roaming in European countries, PROturizm is starting a series of articles about mobile communications and the Internet abroad. Let's start with a comparison of international roaming and Internet tariffs of Russian mobile operators.

For vacationers at resorts abroad, free WI-FI in the hotel lobby may be enough. In some southern countries, calls from a street payphone are more profitable than mobile communications. If you are tied to a cell phone number, you will be interested in tourist SIM cards. Although, call forwarding is a complicated thing, and you may be thinking about changing your mobile operator. Here we will simply provide an overview of prices and tariffs for consideration.

Let's check the prices for mobile communications in roaming from the Russian tour operators Tele2, Beeline, MTS and Megafon using the example of roaming in Turkey.

Beeline

The Beeline operator automatically activates roaming. For outgoing and, please note, incoming calls while roaming, 200 rubles are debited from your account. and you are given a credit of 20 minutes of calls per day (until 23.59.59 local time). For outgoing calls this is understandable, but for incoming calls it causes some regret. Be careful - don't answer calls without thinking.

Sending SMS – 20 rub.

When you go online, you will also be automatically charged 200 rubles. and will provide 40 MB per day. More Internet can be connected separately for 350 rubles. (100 MB package per day). Please note that the day ends at 23:59:59 (local time).

On days when you do not make calls or do not go online, the Beeline operator does not debit you.

MTS

MTS roaming in Turkey costs 60 rubles/min for incoming, outgoing to local and outgoing to Russian numbers. Calls to other foreign numbers – 135 rubles/min. Sending SMS – 19 rub.

To use mobile communications while roaming with MTS, you must activate two functions in advance: roaming and access. This is where the difficulty arises. You can activate the functions if you have been an MTS subscriber for more than six months with monthly expenses of more than 650 rubles on communications, or more than a year with monthly expenses of more than 0 rubles. Otherwise, you are offered the “easy” option - attention! – which must be connected at the MTS showroom or sales office!

For calls abroad, MTS offers a tariff with a subscription fee of 95 rubles. in a day. According to the tariff, you are given “free” 10 minutes of incoming calls (from 11 minutes - 25 rubles / min.) and a “discount” on outgoing calls from 2 to 5 minutes (1st and from 6 minutes - regular roaming tariff for country). Within a calendar month, you can receive 200 minutes of incoming calls for free, then at 25 rubles per minute.

100 MB of Internet can be connected for 450 rubles. The fee is debited the first time you connect to the network, the day is also “counted” until 23:59, but according to the time of the subscriber’s home region.

Megaphone

Megafon offers roaming for 79 rubles/min for all incoming and outgoing calls in Turkey (129 rubles/min to other countries). SMS – 25 rub.

Megafon mobile Internet – 70 MB/day for 350 rubles. The fee is debited when accessing the Internet abroad. The traffic package is available for 24 hours; after the volume is used up, it is blocked until the next period of 24 hours.

For 600 rubles. per day you can activate the option with unlimited internet. Internet subscription fee will be charged daily. Don't forget to disable the option when you return.

An additional option for calls abroad offered by Megafon - with a subscription fee of 59 rubles / day will provide you with 40 minutes of incoming calls per day.

Another version of the additional option “evens out” the price of incoming and outgoing calls to Russia and Turkey - 13 rubles per minute and offers SMS for 11 rubles. Connection option – 15 rubles. and daily subscription fee – 9 rubles/day.

These options are not available for connection on all tariffs. This must be checked in advance in your Personal Account or in the Contact Center.

In Megafon's international roaming, you can check your balance for free using the USSD command *100#call. Calls to the Contact Center are also free: +7 926 111–05–00.

Tele2

Tele2 roaming (like Beeline) does not require a connection. The phone is automatically registered in the network of the host country. If this does not happen, select the network manually.

Incoming and outgoing calls in Turkish roaming with Tele2: local calls in Turkey, to Europe, to the CIS countries and to Russia will cost 15 rubles/min. A megabyte of Internet will cost you 25 rubles. Outgoing SMS and MMS – 6 rubles each.

For 100 rubles. You can connect to an Internet package of 10 MB per day. To activate the service you will have to pay an extra 100 rubles. For every MB over the limit, you will be charged 10 rubles. The fee is charged every day, regardless of Internet use, so do not forget to turn off the service when you return.

The operator offers very interesting information about what 1 GB of Internet is.

For incoming calls in international roaming, Tele2 offers a tariff with a subscription fee of 5 rubles. in a day. The fee is debited daily, regardless of the availability of calls. There is no fee for connecting to the service.

Free Tele2 helpline number in roaming +7 951 520-06-11. Check your travel balance *105#call.
