Program for recovering WhatsApp messages. How to recover deleted chat on Whatsapp. Recovering deleted messages on WhatsApp

Recovering deleted WhatsApp chats is quite simple and does not require special knowledge and skills, as well as a large amount of additional software. All it takes is a few minutes to return the correspondence. This article contains the best ways to recover messages in the Vastap messenger. As a result, you yourself will be able to return chats, SMS and entire correspondence. In addition, you will no longer have to worry about deleting correspondence.

3 ways to recover deleted WhatsApp messages on iPhone

Method 1. How to Recover Deleted Messages on WhatsApp

The reason for the loss of correspondence data, files and SMS in WatsApp is that the messenger simply does not store the data in the cloud. All correspondence is stored exclusively on your phone. And if you started cleaning your phone, updated your iPhone’s operating system, or performed a reset, then the correspondence will most likely be deleted and it will be difficult, and in some cases impossible, to restore it.

How to recover deleted files on WhatsApp and also avoid future loss of chats? To do this, follow simple instructions:

Step 1. In the messenger, open the chats and calls section in the settings.

Step 2. Select Copy.

Step 3. After this, information about storing your chat data on iCloud cloud servers will appear.

Step 5. After creating a copy, information about it will be shown in this menu. It is important to wait until the copy is completed before deleting the application or wiping the smartphone.

Now you can safely delete WhatsApp. All data will be erased including files from correspondence, call history and all other data stored on the phone. But, after you reinstall the messenger, in the chats and calls settings section, in the copying subsection, you can simply click on the restore button. As a result, all your chats will be completely restored and clouded. This way you will not lose your correspondence including files and call history.

Method 2. How to restore WhatsApp chat via iCloud

It is also important that you have an Apple ID account.

1. If available, just go to the iCloud application and find settings for synchronizing data from different applications. Among them should be WhatsApp if it is already installed on your iPhone.

2. Check that all switches next to applications are turned on. Then all data will be automatically saved in accordance with the synchronization settings in the applications themselves.

In addition to the fact that this will help you recover deleted SMS on WhatsApp, you will be able to save data from other applications, progress in games and much more.

The iCloud cloud service itself is distinguished by a high level of security, speed and reliability. It is an official service from Apple designed specifically for iPhone, iPad, iPod, MAC and other devices. The service allows you to access files from anywhere in the world where there is Internet access.

When backing up correspondence data and files from Vastap, problems or failures are also possible. Therefore, the developers have indicated the most effective methods for troubleshooting possible problems.

The most common problem is using a new number in the messenger. Therefore, if you corresponded under a different number, you can restore it only if you re-login to WhatsApp using the old number. Also, past correspondence will not be displayed when you change your phone number.

Another reason for the impossibility of recovery may be iOS firmware version seven or lower. Restoring correspondence is only possible from iOS 8 and higher. In addition, it is recommended to check the availability of free space both on iCloud and on the smartphone itself, since a lack of it will make backup impossible.

Method 3. Restore WhatsApp on iPhone using UltData program

If you did not save the correspondence using iCloud or other cloud services, then there is another, slightly more complicated way to restore a deleted WhatsApp. To do this, you will need to use utilities to recover data on iPhone. The most popular is.

The utility allows you to recover previously erased data from your device, iTunes or iCloud. Results may vary greatly depending on how long ago the data was erased, as well as depending on the version of the iPhone.

Thus, owners of older smartphones, the iPhone 3GS model, will be able to restore many files and correspondence, including photos, audio recordings and videos. The text correspondence itself in Vastape and a series of other applications is very easy to restore.

Step 1. Connect your turned on iPhone to your computer and launch the program.

Step 2. Wait until the utility detects the device. Go to the recovery menu.

Step 3. Select only the necessary items and click restore. The application will scan the device's memory and indicate exactly what data it can return. Next, click on the “Restore” button to begin the recovery. Ready.

Recovering a deleted WhatsApp is quite simple. To do this, you can use various data recovery utilities that allow you to return files literally from the other world. But, very often, correspondence may be partially deleted or cannot be restored at all. This especially happens if you actively use your iPhone's data storage features. It is also important to note that not all files can be recovered. Thus, photo, video and audio files from the correspondence will be lost forever when the correspondence is deleted.

Therefore, the best way to restore WhatsApp conversations is to make a backup copy. The best way to do this is to create backup copies of correspondence with all files in iCloud cloud storage. Thus, thanks to simple automatic synchronization, you will protect your own correspondence from accidental deletion. And after cleaning your smartphone, you can restore it. It is also important to remember that WhatsApp is a confidential messenger with a high level of security, which stores all correspondence data exclusively on devices, bypassing cloud servers. But, you have to pay for security with the possibility of data loss when cleaning your smartphone.

Also, to restore correspondence in instant messengers, it is recommended to regularly back up iOS and all data using the iTunes and iCloud utility. It is also important to note that backups allow you to save correspondence only until the backup copy is created. But simply creating a copy of iOS for subsequent recovery is a lengthy and not the most convenient process, so if you have restored correspondence, then in the future it is best to use cloud storage. They are also secure and confidential, so your correspondence will remain safe and protected from deletion and loss.

Of course, if you accidentally lost your data, you want UltData to help you recover that data.

Often, users encounter such a problem as accidentally deleting very important information for them. This can be any information or data received through WhatsApp. As a result of such inaccurate actions, a need arises for the return of information and, accordingly, the question arises: Is it possible to recover deleted messages on WhatsApp?

All data in correspondence is copied by default to backup sections at 2-3 a.m. local time to the device or cloud storage. You can track the location of such archived files by the program through the settings of the application itself.

On many gadgets, especially those under control, access to system folders and files is open, which makes it easy to find the necessary data. In addition, you can independently choose the location for backup data storage.

Note! To do this, application developers advise setting data copy paths immediately after installing the software and registering with the system. This can also be done to save important information in case it is lost.

Message recovery process

Now let's move on to the process itself. If a task arises, how to recover deleted messages on whatsapp, then there is one official path along which actions will be taken to return the necessary previously saved information.

It should also be noted that such actions can be performed with files that do not age 7 days from the moment of archiving. This is due to the fact that in order to save space on the device or cloud storage, all data that has aged for this period is replaced with newer ones. Therefore, if you want to save an older copy, you will need to go to the saves section and rename the file, changing the date in it.

Through the apps, the process looks quite simple. After the backup is created, you need to save it on any of the media. You can do it manually by going to settings and clicking the appropriate line. After this, in order to recover the data, you need to remove the software.

The system can also independently scan the system for the presence of earlier saves.

Messenger often seems like a convenient place to store information. Most often, this is true: correspondence, photos and voice messages are organized and located in different chats. There is a search function with which you can easily get to any information.

But there is an important nuance: all data is still stored on users’ mobile devices if they have reached the recipient. The developer's servers serve only for forwarding. This means that, for example, the loss of a smartphone or cleaning the system will lead to the deletion of correspondence from WhatsApp.

This storage option is related to the security of the messenger. Only participants in the correspondence have access to messages, audio files and pictures. And this has certain disadvantages that will appear, for example, when contacts from the application are erased.

Contacts on WhatsApp

WhatsApp contacts are directly linked to the owner's address book. And if you add a new user to your messenger account, he will also appear in your contacts on your smartphone. And if you delete it, it will disappear from both places.

Then how to restore contacts on WhatsApp if they were lost for some reason? Unfortunately, this cannot be done using the standard functions of the application. Even the technical support of the messenger will not help.

The only option is to restore contacts on your smartphone or tablet. With iPhone and iPad, in this case everything is simple. Initially, the device is configured to save backup copies of data to iCloud cloud storage. If this feature is not disabled, then simply activate recovery.

With Android everything is not so clear. Not all mobile devices from all manufacturers have automatic data transfer to cloud storage. And even those that have such a function sometimes do not save correspondence histories and contacts.

If you know that your device supports this feature, then use it. All contacts will again be displayed in the WhatsApp application, as well as messages.

In other situations, the only option left is to manually add users to the messenger. To make the process easier, you can ask people you know to send you a message. And then from the dialog add the user to the list. Unfortunately, no other options are provided.

With these updates, not only me, many people are unhappy and stressed, is there an option to agree or disagree with the next WhatsApp update in general, and choose for the owner of the device when he wants to resolve this issue with the help of a specialist. Here is the next update announcement that has been appearing on the WhatsApp screen for the last 4 days and all 4 days I have been stressed. Every time there is a problem with proper data recovery, suddenly after a reboot it will once again ask for a code to send to the old SIM card, there is no SIM card, that’s why the developers are making unnecessary problems for people Thus. They can’t do something as basic as recovering correspondence files deleted a month or more ago, although the default back-up settings are every day. I don’t understand why it is impossible to restore any correspondence in the entire history of WhatsApp on a specific SIM number or a specific device. ↓

  34. Olga 05/10/2017 at 11:06

Good day, please help, if I don’t use my phone, Android, how long will messages be stored in backup? 1. If the Google account is inactive along with the phone 2 If the account is active, but the phone can no longer be used. Or are they never deleted from the backup at all???? Thank you ↓

    1. Marina 05/13/2017 at 09:29

Olga, as I understand it, they are stored there if you don’t delete anything. And if you install an application on your phone with an account containing a backup copy, it will offer to restore it. ↓

  35. Arzu 05/09/2017 at 08:20

The phone was buggy yesterday and after that WhatsApp took and deleted all the messages, but I made a backup copy in April, took and deleted WhatsApp in the hope of restoring everything from the copy, but this bastard doesn’t find the backup files and doesn’t want to restore ((Please, whoever had such a problem, please respond(( ↓

  36. Joy 04/12/2017 at 14:32

I REALLY PLEASE HELP!!! NO ONE CAN ANSWER THIS QUESTION, THE LAST HOPE IS ON YOU. Hello. I have a non-standard question: I never had WhatsApp on my phone, since the phone was old and the Internet was not activated on it. Simply N72. I still wanted to understand what this vaunted WhatsApp of yours is. I heard that there was an option that could be downloaded using an emulator, I was delighted, and did so. On the desktop it didn’t really work for me, the computer began to glitch, apparently there was a conflict between Android and Windows, I don’t know (((started cutting off , I had to delete WhatsApp along with Bluestax. Time passed, I was drawn to Whatsapp again, I decided to download the program onto the computer again, yes, everything was according to the same scheme, first Bluestax, then WhatsApp itself. I discovered that the contacts that were there were saved , but there is no correspondence((((. Some more time passed and the computer again began to glitch and cut off out of the blue until it broke. I had to delete the program, etc. Now to the topic itself - I finally bought an iPhone. I want to download WhatsApp, BUT, I’m very afraid that when I download it again, the correspondence will be lost again, but it’s extremely important to me, it’s just vital. What and how can I do so that when I install WhatsApp on a new device (the same number), the CORRESPONDENCE IS STILL PRESENT. I’M REALLY WAITING FOR A RESPONSE. THANK YOU. ↓

    1. Griga 04/15/2017 at 14:11

If, when installing the program on a new phone, it does not ask you to restore the previous version, then I think there is no way to restore it. But if you made a backup, or find a bluestacks folder on your computer with a copy of the correspondence, you're in luck. And as we wrote earlier, try doing on your phone “Install a file manager, use it to go to /sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases. If the necessary files are not there, look not only at the sdcard, but also at the main and internal memory of the phone. Rename the found file from from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12 to msgstore.db.crypt12. Also see earlier crypt9 and 10 protocols." ↓

  37. Valery 02/21/2017 at 00:23

I bought a new phone, gave the old one to a friend, and naturally took the SIM card. He says that he receives my correspondence, can this be? And he could log into my WhatsApp with a new SIM card? ↓

    1. Indris 03/14/2017 at 20:27

And you changed your WhatsApp number. It is not enough to remove the SIM card. ↓

  38. Masha 02/06/2017 at 00:13

For the last couple of days, both incoming and outgoing messages in chats have ceased to be stored. I didn't change the settings. When a message arrives in the messenger, it is displayed on the screen. I go to read it, but there is no message. In the list of chats, the first word of a new message is visible. There is no message in the chat itself. what does it mean? ↓

    1. Luda 02/07/2017 at 12:49

Perhaps there is some kind of bug, maybe the phone does not have enough memory, look at the storage ↓

Hello, I accidentally deleted all my correspondence, I wanted to clear the cache on my phone and noticed that I had deleted all my correspondence and the backup copy. And the confirmation code did not come to me due to the fact that my SIM card does not work in roaming. Please help me restore my correspondence... ↓

    1. Lyusya 01/11/2017 at 12:50

Hello. If you have not deleted correspondence in the application, if the application itself has not been deleted, then make new backup copies. If you deleted both the application and copies from your phone, then nothing can be done. ↓

  40. Alexey 12/29/2016 at 10:36

Who can restore WhatsApp correspondence for August-September 2016, data on numbers is available, the correspondence itself is deleted ↓

    1. Nika 12/30/2016 at 1:15 pm

Only you can restore correspondence from your phone. It is stored on the device itself. ↓

  41. Daria 12/20/2016 at 12:44 pm

Good afternoon! Is it possible to restore messages if there was no backup copy either on the computer or in iCloud? ↓

    1. Snezhana 01/09/2017 at 14:42

You can, if enough time has passed for a copy to be created automatically. It is created every day at 3 am. Such a copy can be found in the phone memory. Install the file manager, use it to go to /sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases. If the necessary files are not there, look not only at the sdcard, but also at the main and internal memory of the phone. Rename the found file from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12 to msgstore.db.crypt12. Also look at the earlier protocols crypt9 and 10. Then reinstall the application and click "Restore" at startup. If you deleted messages immediately after reading them or on the same day, then the backup copy was not saved and it is impossible to restore them. ↓

  42. Olga 12/09/2016 at 11:47

Hello. Please tell me what needs to be done so that WhatsApp messages arrive on time so that the other person receives my messages without delay. The phone itself cleared the memory, I wanted to restore all the correspondence, I deleted WhatsApp and installed it on the phone again, but after downloading and installing WhatsApp on the phone, messages began to arrive late, or I send my messages to another person, also late or does not receive my messages at all . ↓

  45. Try installing a file manager on his phone, use it to go to /sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases. Good evening, I have the following question: when I changed my phone, I downloaded WhatsApp, but the problem is that when I try to restore the data, it crashes, but before deleting, I made a backup copy of the messages, but if it fails, it asks me to skip this step, but at the same time I will lose all the data that I had on WhatsApp, they are simply very necessary, is it possible to restore them somehow?? ↓

    1. Stanislav 10/28/2016 at 11:02

Hello! You can skip this step and then try to restore using a file manager, but it’s not a guarantee that it will work. ↓

Good afternoon. I had whatsapp synchronized with safari browser. The computer crashed and I had to tear down the entire system and reinstall it again. A friend deleted WhatsApp from her tablet, and at that time, without knowing it, I sent her messages. One checkmark appears (message delivered to the server). Two months later, she installed WhatsApp on her tablet again. She is online and I can see her status (that is, I am not blocked), but old messages still have one checkmark, that is, the messages were not delivered. Why is that? ↓

    1. South 09.27.2016 at 16:32

Perhaps due to the fact that she was not online for a long time. The server cannot store messages forever. SEND again. ↓

    1. Vladimir 04/01/2016 at 14:06

Checked! Comes. If the subscriber deleted the application from the phone and at that time someone sent him a message, then it arrives when the person installs WhatsApp on the phone again. But all previous information (that is, messages that he received before he deleted the application) is erased. ↓

  69. lola 02/19/2016 at 10:07

Hello! such a problem - I wrote a message and then accidentally deleted it. Is there any way I can find this message somewhere? And one more problem - I have one contact in my contacts (on my phone), to whom I don’t write, but just often look at the photos in the profile (they change often), and the other day I got this contact in active chats. What is this? Is it a glitch? Or is this normal? ↓

About 1.5 billion people around the world use WhatsApp. The messenger allows you to always stay in touch with your colleagues, friends and loved ones.

WhatsApp chats store important messages, photos, documents and other information that you don’t want to lose. In this article we will talk about restoring correspondence if it was deleted from the phone.

How to Recover WhatsApp Chats

The backup copy is stored on Google Drive. A local archive is created automatically, every day at 2 am. If a Google account is connected to the messenger, the data will also be uploaded to cloud storage.

This feature allows you to get backups of your chats if you lose your phone or buy a new smartphone. However, if the information has not been archived and uploaded to the cloud, it will not be possible to return the correspondence.

How to upload archived messages to Google Drive

The program archives your correspondence daily and saves a copy of the chats on a memory card. Therefore, in order not to lose important information, you need to set up backup to cloud storage.

To do this, use the instructions below.

  1. Go to “Settings” and find the “Chats” item.
  2. Click "Chat Backup".
    1. The big green “Backup” button will immediately create an archive and upload it to Google Drive.
    2. If you want to set up automatic saving of a backup to the cloud on a schedule: connect your account, select the frequency and preferred network.
  3. Wait until the download completes. The first archiving lasts several minutes, subsequent ones - faster.

Google Drive always stores only one copy of chats - the most recent one. Previous versions are deleted from storage and cannot be restored.

How to download archived messages to iCloud

Apple users have a similar way of storing chats. Only instead of Google Drive, iCloud storage is used.

  1. The Apple ID is used to identify the user, so you must have a work account to sign in.
  2. Uploading a backup to the cloud is possible from phones running iOS 7 and later.
    1. In the seventh version of iOS, you need to enable “Documents and Data” in iCloud settings.
    2. In newer versions, just enable “iCloud Drive” in your account settings.
  3. Make sure you have enough space on your device and storage.

You can also select your preferred network to avoid data overruns. In iOS 7, mobile data usage is disabled in the Documents & Data menu. In iOS8 - the “iCloud Drive” item in the “Cellular” menu.

Please remember that storing backups of chats and online media files is not end-to-end encrypted. If attackers gain access to your email, they can read your private messages on any device.

How to view archive on WhatsApp

Archives that are created by the messenger daily are stored locally - on the SD card of your phone. Use the file manager, go to the WhatsApp directory on the memory card, and you will see the backup copies necessary for recovery.

The Databases folder stores the current version of chats, as well as previous snapshots. Therefore, you can restore correspondence for any day.

Follow the instructions below to see what information is saved in your local copy.

  1. Remove the messenger from your smartphone or reinstall the program from the app store.
  2. Click the "Recover" button when a message appears asking you to return your deleted data.
  3. Wait for WhatsApp to unpack the missing correspondence.

By default, the messenger restores the last snapshot of the conversation. If you want older messages, you'll have to rename a few files manually.

  1. Open the “Databases” directory, which is located on the memory card in the “WhatsApp” folder. Depending on the selected file manager, the memory card may be called “SD card” or “Main memory”.
  2. You'll see a lot of files with names like "msgstore-2018-06-01.1.db.crypt12". If the program has been installed for a long time, some databases will have the extension .crypt10.
  3. Find the archive with the required date and rename it to “msgstore.db.crypt12” - this is the name of the snapshot that is used for recovery by default.

As soon as the files appear appropriate, reinstall the program.

What you need to know about the CRYPT12 extension

The files in the “Databases” directory are archives developed by the WhatsApp Tools Dev team. They contain SQLite databases encrypted with 256-bit AES.

The number at the end of the extension indicates the version of the messenger with which the messages were archived. Databases of older programs use the algorithms CRYPT7, CRYPT8, and so on.

The easiest way to view the archive is to restore correspondence using the instructions above. If you don’t have a smartphone with messenger installed at hand, you can convert the archive to another format and open it on your computer.

For example, the Omni-Crypt tool makes a CRYPT file from an encrypted backup. It opens through WhatCrypt and similar services.

How to restore a backup copy of deleted WhatsApp correspondence on Android

Storing messages only locally is not the most secure option. If you lose your phone or the SD card fails, there is a risk of losing all correspondence along with photos, videos and other attached documents.

Keep your local copies safe, but also keep the current version of the database on Google Drive.

When you install WhatsApp on a new smartphone, the program will offer to download lost correspondence from the cloud or try to find files in the Databases directory.

Recovery problems: causes and solutions

WhatsApp does not always detect backups. An error like this can happen due to 4 different reasons.

  • There is no connected Google account from where the messenger can copy data.
  • A different phone number is being used than the one from which the backups were created.
  • The internal or external memory of the phone is damaged.
  • There is not a single saved message database in either the local or remote storage.

There are several proven ways to solve the problem.

Make sure your Google account is connected to your device. Many Android devices automatically substitute the email address in WhatsApp if it is among the accounts used on the smartphone.

Check if there is enough free space. Sometimes, the messenger cannot download and unpack a copy of the correspondence because the internal memory or SD card is full. Clear your cache, remove unnecessary updates, and try downloading messages again.
