The first method, working with a proxy “manually”

Manual proxy installation consists of three steps:
* Search for proxy lists (search for sites with a list of proxy servers)
* Integrating them into the browser (setting up a proxy in your browser)

First of all, we will need proxy lists (as already noted, these are lists of proxy servers that are publicly available on the Internet).

When you enter the site, in the left window you are immediately offered a choice of proxy server.

Click on the button "Check proxy"- this function will help to filter out "dead" proxy servers (which are currently not working), of course, this does not guarantee 100% working capacity of the proxy; you will still have to check it manually later.
After checking the proxy servers, the site generates a table showing the results of the check.

Let's look at the lines, in our example the first three are perfect, the fourth and fifth proxies do not hide our name and IP, so we discard them right away. So, checking the entire table, we select from there the ones that are most suitable for us, i.e. working proxies. Those. All! We have in our pocket the options of proxy servers that we will use. The only thing left is to install them in our browser. We take the first proxy 127.0.0.1:8080.

1. Open Internet Explorer and go through the top “Tools” panel to the “Internet Options” tab.

2. Go to the “Connections” tab, select your connection (in my case it is “internet”) and click the “Settings” button.

3. In the window that opens, check the box next to “Use a proxy server for this connection.” After clicking, the following fields will become active: “Address” and “Port”. We take our proxy - 127.0.0.1:8080 and, accordingly, insert 127.0.0.1 into the “Address” field, and 8080 into the “Port” field.

So, click “Ok” twice and... that’s it. You have configured a proxy in your browser. It remains to check the functionality, but we’ll talk about this after analyzing the proxy settings in Mozilla FireFox and Opera; if you use Internet Explorer, you can safely scroll below.

Setting up a proxy server in Mozilla FireFox

Let's look at the example of the same proxy 127.0.0.1:8080.

1.Open Mozilla FireFox and go through the top “Tools” panel to the “Settings...” tab.

2.Go to the “Network” tab and click the “Configure…” button.

3. In the “Connection Settings” window that opens, check the box next to “Manual configuration of the Proxy service”. After clicking, the following fields will become active: “HTTP proxy” and “Port”. We take our proxy - 127.0.0.1:8080 and insert 127.0.0.1 into the “HTTP proxy” field, and 8080 into the “Port” field.

There is no need to change anything else. The column “Do not use proxies for:” is also left unchanged, i.e. As you have it by default, it remains so.

All that remains is to click “Ok” - and the proxy will be configured.

Setting up a proxy server in Opera

And again the proxy is 127.0.0.1:8080.

1.Open Opera and go through the top panel “Tools” to the “Settings...” tab.

2.Go to the “Advanced” tab. In the menu that appears on the left, select the “Network” section, and in it click on the “Proxy servers...” button.

3. In the “Proxy Servers” window that opens, check the box next to “HTTP”. After clicking, the following fields will become active: “HTTP” and “Port”. Again, fill in 127.0.0.1 and 8080 in the appropriate fields.

So, click “Ok” twice and... that’s it. You have configured a proxy in your browser. It remains to check its performance.

Checking the functionality of the proxy server

After setting up a proxy in any of the browsers, remembering to save the change, go to the site for checking the IP address and location. For example, on h*tp://2ip.ru/geoip/.
Now it's simple:

*if the page does not load, it means the proxy is “dead” (not working), in this case, according to the scheme already passed, we set up the next proxy from the proxy list, etc.;

* if the page displays your city on the map, then you did something wrong or the proxy is not working;
* if the page displays not your city, but some other city, congratulations - you have “manually” configured a proxy! You can safely start using it.


Programs for working through a proxy server

We will analyze the three most popular programs for anonymous surfing on the Internet:

* Settings - in the settings you can integrate Mask Surf into the Mozzila FireFox browser, as well as configure some of the subtleties of the program.
* Remove Internet traces - this function should be used after working with the program. It will remove all traces of your Internet presence from your computer.

ProxySwitcherStandard

Quite a convenient and intuitive program for working with proxies. A huge selection of proxy servers, very diverse, which is very pleasing. It has a drawback - the interface, alas, is in English.

1. When you start the program, a window opens, the menu on the left contains sections for sorting proxy servers, initially empty. On the right is an area for detailed display of the menu sections on the left.

2. First, we integrate the program into your browser.

This program is highly specialized than the programs described above. Proxyassistant is configured to work with proxy lists: it searches for proxy lists from its databases, checks them and gives them to you for use. It is worth noting that he does this quickly, which in some cases is very convenient. One of the advantages is the Russified interface. But, alas, the program is paid, however, like all similar products, a trial version is included.

1. When launched, a large list of proxy servers opens on the left and program statistics on the right.

The uniqueness of this program is, first of all, its extensive and convenient search for proxies from its database, a large number of high-quality working proxies from various countries. It is worth mentioning the statistics column, which displays information about all proxy servers and their last check.
2. Unfortunately, you have to use a proxy manually. Those. copying IP addresses and ports from the list and installing them in the browser yourself. How to set IP proxies and ports in the browser is described above. However, all proxies are working and do not need to be checked, this greatly simplifies the work.

When working through a proxy server, you leave exactly its IP address on all the resources you visit - provided that it has the ability to hide IP. When choosing a proxy, you should look at its characteristics and check whether it hides your real address.

To find a suitable proxy, go to this resource: https://free.proxy-sale.com. On its pages you can not only select the appropriate option, but also check the server’s functionality - to do this, copy its data and paste it into the field in the “Check proxy server” tab. If you have several options at once, use the “Check proxy lists” tab.

When choosing a proxy, pay attention to its response speed - the faster it is, the better. Also look at the Anm column, it shows whether the server is anonymous. Highly anonymous proxies are marked in the list as HIA. To use the browser you will need an HTTP proxy.

Now configure your browser. If you have Internet Explorer, open the following sequence: “Tools” - “Internet Options” - “Connections” and click the “Settings” button. Check the “Use a proxy server” checkbox, then enter the required data – address and port number. For example, if the proxy information is 85.214.84.104:8080, then enter 85.214.84.104 in the address field and 8080 in the port field.

If you are working with the Mozilla Firefox browser, open: “Tools” - “Settings” - “Advanced” - “Network”. Click "Customize" in the "Configure Firefox Internet connection settings" section. In the window that opens, select “Manual proxy”, specify the address and port number, save the changes.

If you have Opera, open in sequence: “Tools” – “Settings” – “Advanced” – “Network”. Click the “Proxy Servers” button, check the connection types you need, usually HTTP, HTTPS, FTP. Enter the address of the proxy server and its port in the lines of these protocols. Click OK.
