A damaged SD card cannot be formatted. How to fix a damaged SD card on Android: the most effective ways

Having problems with your SD memory card? Can't read all the data from it? Or does the phone not see them at all? You can try to recover a damaged SD card using a computer - check it for errors and completely format it.

Problems with SD memory cards are not uncommon. If a lot of data is recorded on it and you actively use it, for example, on your phone, then there is a possibility that after some time problems may appear with reading the contents. However, this does not mean that it can be immediately thrown into the trash.

There is always a chance to restore it. It doesn’t always come down to problems with the memory card controller - sometimes the solution may be, for example, checking for errors in the saved files, restoring damaged sectors, formatting, or completely clearing the partitions (structure) and creating them again. Let's consider the listed solutions.

What will you need to recover an SD memory card?

To recover data from a memory card, you need to connect it to your computer. Therefore we should have accordingly:

  • computer or laptop with Windows system;
  • An affordable option for connecting an SD card to a PC.

There are several ways to connect it to your computer. This can be done via the card reader built into the laptop. If this is not the case, then you can purchase a USB card reader. In appearance, it is no different from a regular flash drive, with the only difference being that there is an additional input into which we first insert a memory card, and only then connect it via USB to the computer.

Method No. 1: Recovering a damaged file system using Chkdsk

The first and easiest way is to use the system hard drive recovery tool Chkdsk. This is a utility from Microsoft, which means it is only available on PCs with the Windows operating system. Of course, this program is not always enough to recover data from SD cards, but you can check for damage in the file structure without losing data. In this method we will restore the SD card via the command line.

To begin, insert the memory card directly into your laptop or PC and click on the “My Computer” or “This Computer” icon (Windows 8 and above). In the list of drives, find the connected SD card and remember which letter was assigned to it. For example, let's assume that it is assigned the letter "E:".

Press the Windows + R key combination to open the Run window. Type the following command to open Command Prompt:

In the Command Prompt window, you need to enter the appropriate command, which will scan the drive and fix errors on it. The command looks like this:

chkdsk E: /f

Of course, instead of E: we enter the drive letter that your system assigned (not forgetting the colon). After pressing Enter, the scanning process will begin. Please note that the /f parameter is added at the end of the command, that is, Chkdsk not only finds problems, but will also try to repair them.

After scanning, we check the memory card again and see if it works properly.

Method No2: Formatting the SD memory card

In this method, we will try to restore the drive using formatting, during which all data will be deleted. This operation may solve the problem if restoring the memory card using Chkdsk did not bring a positive result and problems still occur (for example, errors in reading individual files). Of course, we will lose all the data, but there is a chance that restoring this method will prevent damage to new data, which we will later copy to the SD drive.

Let's look at simple formatting that doesn't break the partition structure. Connect the memory card to your PC, and then open My Computer on your desktop. In the list of drives, find the SD card and right-click on it.
From the drop-down menu, select "Format". Click on the “Standard Cluster Size” button and make sure that the file system is set to “FAT32”.

The operation can be performed with the Quick Format option. But for a better effect, we recommend unchecking this checkbox - it will take more time, but it will be done more thoroughly and may solve the problem.

Once completed, reinsert the SD memory card into your phone, tablet, digital camera or other device and check if it now works correctly.

Method No3: Deleting partitions or low-level formatting

An SD memory card is not much different from a regular disk - it can have one or more partitions. By default, one section is always allocated. You can format the device in such a way that the partition is completely deleted and there is unallocated space left. This is the so-called low-level formatting.

Important! Like regular formatting, low-level formatting will delete all data from the SD card and there will be no way to recover files. Therefore, before restoring, copy the data or part of it that is still readable by the system to the PC.

You can create a new partition again on the unallocated space that appears after formatting. It very often helps in a situation where, when connecting an SD card, it is displayed as “RAW” and the sections that can be entered are not shown. One of the best is the HDD Low Level Format Tool.

Connect the recoverable SD drive to your computer and run the HDD Low Level Format Tool program. A list of installed hard drives will be displayed. Find the SD drive in it and mark it.

Make sure to select the memory card and not, for example, the second or third hard drive on the computer. If in doubt, pay attention to the Capacity column, which displays the full capacity of this disk/flash drive or micro SD card.

Once selected, click on Continue and go to the “FORMAT THIS DEVICE” tab. The drive will be completely formatted, and the partitions will be deleted - only the unallocated area will remain. Exit the HDD Low Level Format Tool SD card recovery program.

But that is not all. The SD card is not usable yet. Open the Start menu and look for Disk Management. Or type “Creating and formatting hard drive partitions” in the search bar.

A window will appear in which all drives will be displayed - both installed on the PC and connected via USB. Find the connected SD memory card here, the strip of which will be highlighted in black.

Right-click on the black unallocated area and select Create New Volume." A partitioning wizard will appear on your screen and will guide you step-by-step through the partitioning process. Pay attention to the File System field and make sure FAT32 is selected and not NTFS.

Confirm the creation of the new partition. At this point, the SD recovery is complete and it will now appear in the “My Computer” window with an automatically assigned drive letter. Then insert it into your phone or tablet.

Often, users are faced with a situation where the memory card of a camera, player or phone stops working. It also happens that the SD card begins to generate an error indicating that there is no space on it or it is not recognized in the device. Loss of performance of such drives creates a serious problem for owners.

The most common reasons for memory card failure are as follows:

  • accidental deletion of information from the drive;
  • incorrect shutdown of equipment with a memory card;
  • the memory card was not removed when formatting the digital device;
  • Damage to the SD card as a result of a breakdown of the device itself.

Let's look at ways to restore an SD drive.

Method 1: Formatting using special software

The truth is that you can only recover a flash drive by formatting it. Unfortunately, without this it will not be possible to restore its functionality. Therefore, in case of a malfunction, use one of the SD formatting programs.

Formatting can also be done via the command line.

If all of the above does not bring your storage medium back to life, there is only one thing left - low-level formatting.

Method 2: Using the iFlash service

In most cases, you need to search for recovery programs, and there are a huge number of them. This can be done using the iFlash service. To restore memory cards, do this:

The same applies to other manufacturers. Usually, instructions for recovery are provided on the official websites of manufacturers. You can also use the search on the iflash website.

Sometimes data recovery from a memory card fails because it is not recognized by the computer. This may be caused by the following problems:

If the memory card is detected on the computer, but its contents are not readable, then
Check your computer and SD card for viruses. There is a type of virus that makes files "hidden", so they are not visible.

Method 3: Windows OS Tools

This method helps when a microSD or SD card is not detected by the operating system, and when you try to format it, an error is displayed.

We fix this problem using the diskpart command. For this:

Now the SD card can be formatted using standard OS Windows tools or other specialized programs.

As you can see, recovering information from a flash drive is not difficult. But still, in order to prevent problems with it, you need to use it correctly. For this:

  1. Handle the drive with care. Do not drop it and protect it from moisture, strong temperature changes and strong electromagnetic radiation. Do not touch the contacts on it.
  2. Properly remove the memory card from the device. If, when transferring data to another device, you simply pull the SD card out of the connector, the structure of the card is broken. You should remove the device with the flash card only when no operations are being performed.
  3. Periodically defragment the card.
  4. Back up your data regularly.
  5. Keep microSD in a digital device, not on a shelf.
  6. Do not fill the card completely; there should be some free space left.

Proper use of SD cards will prevent half of the problems with card failures. But even if information on it is lost, do not despair. Any of the methods described above will help you get your photos, music, movie or other important file back. Good work!

Rostislav Kuzmin

Greetings, dear reader! Today we will touch upon a topic that is pressing and, at times, delicate. We will talk about how to restore a micro SD memory card. Why is the topic sensitive, you ask? Yes, because we sometimes store files of a very personal nature, near and dear to our hearts. We don’t want to lose them or expose them to human judgment. If something is wrong with an important micro SD, is it possible to recover the information? Can an ordinary user handle it himself or does he need to go to a service center? Let's figure it out.

The miniature dimensions of microsd have made it so popular that it is widely used in smartphones, tablets, cameras and other gadgets. Its device is extremely simple. There is essentially nothing to break there. But, there are several main reasons why a flash drive may become inoperable.

This can be either mechanical damage or software malfunctions:

  1. Manufacturer's defect
  2. Constant temperature changes
  3. Failures in the reader
  4. Damage to the reading program
  5. Exceeding the service life.

Often, one of the main reasons is the constant change of location of the flash drive - from the camera to the phone and back, several times a week. So, friends, it is better for each device to purchase its own “native” minimap.

Helper programs

Available programs help you reproduce data on a micro SD memory card. They can recover data on any hard drive, conduct diagnostics and find possible errors in operation.

I'll tell you about the most popular of them:

  • CrystalDiskMark. Universal Japanese development for any type of solid drive. Quite easy to use. Easily and quickly performs a test check of the actual write/read speed of the card.
  • Check Flash. A software tool with wide capabilities. Easily finds errors and displays them on the screen. The settings allow you to work both without formatting and with it. Does not require installation on a computer.
  • HD_Speed. The miniprogram runs on Windows OS. Quickly diagnoses flash memory and demonstrates its speed characteristics. Issues a scan report for the selected file, where you can easily determine where the card is damaged.
  • Flash Memory Toolkit. You can take full advantage of the program's potential only after purchase. Advantages include the ability to recover deleted files and create backup copies. Carefully scans the drive for errors and stated speed.

It is worth noting that all these programs work successfully on a PC. In order to diagnose removable memory with their help, you need to purchase an additional card reader.

Formatting on PC

If the memory card is not detected on the device, the first thing you need to do is format it. The procedure will clean and determine the presence of bad sectors on it.

If the micro sd does not work you need to:

  1. Insert the card into the card reader and wait until the computer detects it.
  2. Find the card in the My Computer menu. Right-click on it.
  3. In the context menu that pops up, select the “Format” function and click “Start”.
  4. Wait for the process to complete.

If you enable the “Quick Format” option, then the process of recovering files from a formatted miniflash drive will proceed without problems. Completely clearing the card takes a longer time, as it involves completely overwriting the information.

What to do if the computer does not see the drive? You just need to rename the drive in the Disk Management menu and format the micro SD using utilities.

If you don’t have a special card reader, you can try connecting a device with a solid drive via a USB cable to a PC and work that way.

Formatting on your phone

There is no need to remove additional memory from your smartphone; formatting is easy to do directly on Android:

After formatting, the files will be completely erased.

If the smartphone does not see the additional device, there may be several reasons for this:

  1. Mechanical failure or damage. In this case, recovering files from a mini flash drive becomes impossible.
  2. Incompatibility with the device. If the technical characteristics of the micro SD are higher than the capabilities of the smartphone, then it simply does not recognize it. Buy a card that matches your device
  3. The SD and phone contacts do not match. Make sure the card contacts are working properly. If everything is ok, reinstall it again. If it is damaged, buy a new one
  4. Software read error. You need to find out which program is not reading the micro sd and in the settings specify the card as the storage location for the files.

Recovery after formatting

You ask me: “How to recover photos and videos after completely clearing the card?” For an answer, as always, you should contact the developers of smart programs. They came up with something interesting! Special utilities will help you recover lost files only if no new ones have been written to the card. Saving new files will overwrite old information and it will be impossible to restore deleted information.

You can even recover photos from a micro SD that is damaged and unreadable. Such programs are not cheap, so before thoroughly cleaning the card, you should once again make sure that a backup copy has been created from it.

Famous manufacturers

If the question is “How to restore a damaged micro SD memory card?” becomes unsolvable, it’s worth purchasing a new one.

Here are proven manufacturers with affordable prices:

  • Transcend. Specializes only in the production of memory cards. It is distinguished by reasonable price and high reliability. Headquarters - Taipei, China.
  • Kingston. An American manufacturer specializing in the production of RAM and permanent memory. All cards have high speed characteristics.

We reduce risks

A memory card, like any other device, has its own technical characteristics. Before purchasing it, you need to understand how it will be used, in which device it will be used. Don't skimp on extra memory. Purchase media that meets your device's requirements.

Remember! The norm for any mini-flash drive is the amount of rewriting of no more than 20% per day of the total volume. This means that you cannot overwrite more than 6 GB of information per day from a 32 GB card. This way you will maintain good performance properties for the entire warranty period.

Buy media only from trusted suppliers and well-known brands. Chinese manufacturers often deceive consumers by providing deliberately incorrect information about the characteristics of the card. Always check the actual capabilities of these drives with special utilities before using them for the first time.

Bottom line

Any solid electronic storage medium can fail at the most inopportune moment. To avoid losing files saved on it, act promptly. Under no circumstances should you record new photos and videos over previous information. Otherwise, this will result in the loss of old important files.

Data from a card that has just undergone deep formatting must be restored using special paid programs in service centers. Quick formatting treats data in a more gentle way. An ordinary user can also restore them.

After the data from the card is recovered, you must check it for serviceability. Repeated recording of seized files onto damaged media will lead to their inevitable loss!

All smartphone models suffer from the fact that they get very hot while recording video. The mini-memory slot is often located near the processor, so the card can simply melt. It would be better to buy two 32 GB drives than one 64 GB drive. Consistently use two cards of smaller capacity and you won’t have to ask yourself how to recover photos from a burnt flash drive.

I would be very glad if I helped save more than one of your valuable files. Subscribe to my blog news and tell your friends about it, dear readers.

Bye everyone!

Thank you for your attention! See you again on my blog. Sincerely, Rostislav Kuzmin.

Cool

As a result of improper use or for some external reasons, the memory card may be damaged. In this case, the amount of space on it is indicated as zero, or a warning appears that the disk is write-protected. In the worst case, the card is not detected by the computer at all. You can restore a memory card using specialized programs.

Reasons for memory card failures

Any card is a flash drive, inside of which there is a controller chip. Thanks to this controller, data is transferred from the card chip to the computer, as well as in the reverse order. If the device is removed incorrectly, during power surges, or for other reasons, the program that controls the controller may fail. Therefore, you need to imagine how to restore a card on a phone, tablet or any other device. Let's look at how to restore Silicon Power, SanDisk and Transcend cards.

If the memory card type is unknown

How to recover a memory card if its type is unknown to you? The user's actions will look like this:

Transcend Card Recovery

The best way to recover a Transcend drive is to use the special Transcend RecoveRx program. Even if the card is damaged, this free program will extract all the data from it to the maximum. The work takes place in several stages:

Recovering a SanDisk card

A phone card or other SanDisk device with a capacity of up to 32Gb can be restored with the simple and free D-Soft Flash Doctor program:

Silicon Power Recovery

It is recommended to revive Silicon Power using. This recommendation is based on the fact that the manufacturer Silicon Power works closely with Recuva. The program allows you to recover data from media even if the Silicon Power memory card is damaged or formatted. With the help of the Recuva program, all lost information will be returned, unless the media is mechanically damaged.

Let's look at how you can conveniently work in the Recuva program:

Warning! When working in the Recuva program, do not save your data to the same media where it was lost. Otherwise, there is a high probability that you will not find them again. And Recuva will have nothing to do with it. The Silicon Power media itself may not display them.

MicroSD cards allow you to expand your smartphone's memory. But the very principle of their design does not contribute to durable and stable operation. Therefore, very often failures occur on flash drives, and the information that was written there by the user simply becomes inaccessible. Below we will tell you how to fix a corrupted SD card on your Android device.

Your card may stop working due to a number of reasons, which are listed below:

  • Incorrect removal of the device. Before you physically remove the memory card, you need to software disable it;
  • Operating system failure. Sometimes incorrect processes in the Android OS itself lead to damage to the file table of the drive;
  • Outdated FS. If your memory card is formatted in FAT, this may be incompatible with new software and cause crashes;
  • Sudden stop of reading or writing data. If you interrupt the process ahead of time while writing or reading information from the drive, an error may occur that will subsequently disrupt the functionality of the memory card.

Important! Before removing the micro SD, be sure to disable it in your phone settings.

Types of errors

In most cases, the following factors lead to the failure of a removable drive in Android devices:

  • Physical damage (internal elements of the device are damaged, for example, tracks, the chips themselves or the case);
  • Failures in the operation of the file table, violation of specific blocks.

Solving the problem

Below you will find several ways to recover your removable drive that has become unreadable. First of all, the data recovery algorithm will be described, because this must be done. Next, if you cannot save the files and the method does not help, you can move on to more radical measures, namely formatting.

Both actions can be carried out both from the phone/tablet itself and from a PC. True, in the second case we will need a special adapter or card reader with which the flash drive will be connected to the PC. Such a device is frankly inexpensive, and you can buy it on every corner. So, let's start solving the problem.

How to recover microSD without formatting

First, let's start trying to recover the data. After all, for sure, when the flash drive failed, important photos, music or videos remained on it.

Attention! Look for information online about how to remove a flash drive from your phone. Preferably on the official website.

Via Android

Solving the problem directly from your phone is easier and more convenient. After all, we don’t need either a USB Card Reader or a PC or laptop itself. All you need to do is just download a special program. Let's look at how this is done.

Undeleter

So, a utility called Undeleter can help you and me in restoring important data. We will begin installing it immediately. This is done like this:

  1. Almost any application on Android can be installed from the Google branded store. As you may have guessed, this is the Play Store. Let's launch it.

  1. In the search bar we enter the name of the program we need. In this case, "Undeleter". We wait for the results to appear in the search results and tap on what we need.

  1. Then, when we get to the application’s home page, click the button marked in the screenshot.

  1. Before the download and automatic installation begins, we still have to accept a request to access system resources. We do this by pressing the button, which we have outlined in red.

  1. As a result, the download of the APK and its subsequent installation will begin.

  1. When the process is completed, you will see a start button. The program can be opened directly from the Play Market.

  1. The shortcut will also appear on the Android home screen.

Now that we have successfully installed the necessary software, it’s time to tell you how to work with it. So let's do this:

  1. Launch the Undeleter program and click the button labeled “NEXT”. Here they simply tell us why the utility is needed and what it “can do”. We are also being prepared to test the device to see if it has Root permissions.

Root rights – unlocked user access directly to firmware files. In standard OS (not rooted) this is prohibited.

  1. The root rights check has begun. We are waiting for its completion.

  1. In our case, Root is present, so there is a request to provide access to it. Click the corresponding button.

Attention! If you do not have Root rights, read about how to get them on thematic forums. The fact is that this is done differently on each smartphone. We can only provide you with instructions based on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x smartphone.

  1. Let's continue. Next, we will be notified that access to system files has been successfully confirmed.

  1. From the menu that opens, select “Recover files”. There are also 2 additional functions:

Among them:

  • Data recovery. We can try to recover accidentally deleted SMS, call logs, etc.;
  • Destruction. A special algorithm that overwrites any files, including deleted ones, with empty blocks, making their further recovery impossible.

We continue:

  1. First, a search for installed media will begin - this will not take much time.

  1. Next, we will be asked to select which drive we want to search on. Since in this case it is a memory card, we select external memory.

  1. Then you need to decide on the scanning algorithm. Since we want to get the maximum result, we choose deep scanning.

  1. To speed up the search, you also need to specify the type of data you are looking for. For example, if these are pictures, select the formats JPG, BMP, GIF, etc. If the search is aimed at video, check the boxes next to MP4, AVI and MKV. Naturally, you can search for both at the same time.

That's all. Once the search is complete, you will be given a list of files that you can try to recover. If this doesn’t help and you can’t get your content back, try the PC option. The fact is that the software used on it is much more functional.

We work with PC

Let's look at how data is recovered from a computer or laptop. To begin with, as we have already said, a little about the card reader. There are many different adapters, both built into a PC and for external connection. They look something like this:

To begin attempting recovery, insert the memory card into your computer and proceed to the instructions below.

Recovering data with Recuva

We'll be using a free and user-friendly app called Recuva. You can download it on the official website. When the file is downloaded, do the following:

  1. Run the installer, select Russian in the drop-down menu and click the “Install” button. If necessary, you can customize shortcuts and entries in the Start menu. For this purpose there is a “Customize” item.

  1. Next, the actual installation will begin. It won't take up much of your time; we barely had time to take a screenshot. If you click on “Show Details” you can see the logs and paths for copying system files.

  1. Installation completed. Next, you need to uncheck the “View release notes” item and click the button marked “2”.

  1. The File Recovery Wizard will open. At the first stage of its work, you just need to click on “Next”.

  1. The next step involves selecting a scanning filter. Depending on the objects that need to be restored, select your item. For us it is “All files”. When the choice is made, click “Next”.

  1. We will also set the scanning location. Since we will be searching on a removable drive, select it using the “Browse” button and click “Next”.

  1. For the most accurate and complete search, you must also check the box next to the “In-Depth Analysis” item. When finished, click “Start”.

  1. The files will be analyzed in 3 stages. We are waiting for them to finish.

  1. As a result, a list of found objects will appear in front of you. We select those that we decide to restore and press the button marked “2”. If necessary, you can apply filters. Their functionality is hidden behind the “Go to advanced mode” button.

  1. Select the location where the recovered files will be saved and click “OK”.

That's all. The data you marked will be copied to the specified directory.

We end with the issue of data recovery. Next come the algorithms for repairing the flash drive itself. Resort to them when it is not possible to resolve the issue in any other way.

As with resuscitating data, we will format microSD (for example, Transcend) in different ways. Moreover, it will be possible to use both the smartphone itself and, in fact, the PC. Let's get down to business.

From phone

First, let's look at working with the standard tools of your Android phone without connecting to a PC. We present all the steps described below using the example of a Xiaomi phone and its proprietary MIUI shell. On other devices (for example, Samsung, Sony, LG, etc.) and firmware, the process occurs in a similar way. Only some of the names of the points and, sometimes, their position differ.

  1. To get started, slide the notification bar down and tap on the settings icon. In earlier versions of Android, you can find them in the application menu.

  1. Then scroll the contents a little lower and select “Storage”.

  1. Next we need a cleanup section. Click on the element indicated in the screenshot.

  1. Select the option to format our memory card.

  1. We see the warning and, despite everything, we continue.

  1. The flash drive is being formatted.

That's all. All we have to do is tap “Done”.

This method is fast and convenient, but it has a significant drawback. The fact is that it does not provide full formatting, but only updates the partition table. This cannot solve the bad sector problem in any way. But the computer is quite capable of coping with such a task.

Formatting on PC

There are several utilities on your computer, including system features, that can completely format the drive and, in most cases, restore its file system, even when the device is not detected. Follow the instructions below, applying the methods sequentially. If the first one doesn't solve the problem, try the next one and so on.

Windows tools

First, let's look at formatting a memory card using the operating system itself.

  1. Open Explorer, find our flash drive there and right-click on it. From the context menu that opens, select the item marked in the screenshot.

  1. Next, we set up the formatting method. We specify the file system, assign a volume label and uncheck the “Quick Format” checkbox. Then click “Start”.

  1. The system will warn us that all data on the drive will be irretrievably lost. We have already tried to restore them and did everything we could - click “OK”.

  1. Formatting in progress. We are waiting for the process to finish.

Ready. Click “OK” and check the functionality of your flash drive.

Command line and Chkdsk
  1. Naturally, it is assumed that your memory card is already installed in the PC. Launch the command line by entering its name in the search. When the desired item appears in the search results, right-click on it and select run as administrator.

An example of instructions is given based on Windows 10; in other operating systems the process is similar.

  1. A command interpreter window will open. We will need to enter the operator into it and press Enter.
chkdsk E: /f /r

  1. After this, the formatting itself will begin. His progress will be displayed as a percentage.

If the flash drive is busy with any process, the program will offer to disconnect the volume. This must be done by entering the Latin letter “Y”.

  1. Successful completion of formatting will look like this:

Let's move on to working with third-party software. We use completely free applications.

SDformatter

The first program we'll look at is SDformatter. You can download it on the official website. Below are instructions for installing and using the software.

  1. After launching the installation distribution, wait for its initial unpacking.

  1. Next, click the “Next” button.

  1. Specify the installation path and click “Next” again.

  1. To start the installation, click “Install”. Notice the shield icon on the button. It means that the application requires administrator rights to operate.

  1. The installation has begun. We are waiting for its completion.

  1. This completes the installation. All that remains is to press the marked button.

After we have installed the program, we can start working with it. This is done as follows:

  1. In the window that opens, click “Option”.

  1. Select the marked operating mode and click “OK”.

  1. Select the disk that will be cleaned and restored, then click “Format”.

  1. A warning will appear indicating that all data on the drive has been lost. Click "OK".

  1. Then the formatting itself will begin. Its progress, as in the case of the command line, is displayed as a percentage.

  1. The process is complete. We will be shown basic information about the device. We finish by closing the window.

HDD Low Level Format Tool

Let's consider another program that, unlike the previous one, performs more complete formatting and “cuts” the file table completely and anew in cases where other programs fail to complete the formatting. The utility is called HDD Low Level Format Tool and you can download its latest version on the official website. Unfortunately, there is no Russian language here, but thanks to our instructions you can easily figure out how to work here.

Once the program is downloaded, run the installation file. A standard window with general information will open. We continue with the installation.

  1. Using the “Browse” button you can specify the installation path. Of course, if necessary. Then click “Next”.

  1. Everything is ready for installation, click “Install”.

  1. The installation happens so quickly that we didn’t even have time to take a screenshot. One way or another, click “Finish”.

  1. After starting the program, we must accept the license by clicking on the “Agree” button.

  1. Select the marked item.

  1. We indicate the drive we will work with and click “Continue”.

  1. Switch to the “LOW-LEWEL FORMAT” tab, which means “low-level formatting”, and uncheck the box marked “2”. Next, click “FORMAT THIS DEVICE”.

  1. As in other cases, we confirm our intentions with the “Yes” button.

Formatting will begin. Since it is in full mode, it may take a lot of time. We are waiting for the process to complete.

After successful completion, we will see the average access speed, the total number of sectors and other important information. Now the window can be closed.

There are a number of other programs with similar functionality. These are, for example, Smart Data Recovery, BadCopyPro, DiskDigger, etc. They have similar capabilities, so there is no point in considering all programs.

If your memory card is connected to the PC via an SD adapter, and you see a message that it is write-protected, you can remove the protection by moving the latch labeled “Lock”.
