Quick launch panel. Yandex panel: installation, configuration, removal

Hello, friends! If one day you notice that the web browser shortcut you use has disappeared from your desktop, then let's figure out how to get it back. This could have happened for various reasons: the computer or laptop was incorrectly cleaned of “garbage”, it was accidentally deleted along with other files, or perhaps the “Create a shortcut on the desktop” checkbox was not checked during installation.

If there is no browser shortcut on your desktop, then in order to access the Internet, you will have to search for the desired application on your computer every time through Windows Explorer. This is not very convenient, and it takes a lot of time. Therefore, let's figure out how you can create a Yandex browser shortcut on your computer desktop.

Creating a desktop shortcut via file location

The first method is as follows: we find the location of the folder in which Yandex was installed and create it for the executable file.

But before that, you need to enable the visibility of hidden files and folders on your computer. To do this, go to: “Start” – “Control Panel”.

In the next window, at the top, select “View” – “Large Icons”, and select “Folder Options” from the list.

The next thing to do is to find through Explorer the folder in which the Yandex browser was installed. It is usually located along the following path:

Users are Users, and instead of Master, select the name of your computer or laptop. The “AppData” folder is a hidden folder, so to display it, we first turned on the visibility of all hidden files and folders.

Find Yandex browser in the list. Please note that opposite it, in the “Type” column, should be written “Application”.

Select the line with the “browser” application (your name may be different), and select “Send” from the drop-down list, then “Desktop (create shortcut)”.

After this, the desired icon will appear in the specified location. If desired, you can rename it, for example, “Yandex.Browser”, or simply “Yandex”.

Create a shortcut via Start

The second method, in my opinion, is simpler than the first. To create it, click on the “Start” button. Then click on “All Programs”.

At one time, every search engine tried to get its own browser (web page viewer) and Yandex was no exception. A good application appeared in 2012. How to install Yandex Browser, how to configure and use it? Read the article and answer these questions for yourself.

Installing Yandex Browser

You can download Yandex Browser on the official website.

Click the “Download” button

Launch the downloaded file.

Click “Start using”

We wait a few minutes while the browser is installed.

Now we have the first page of Yandex Browser. At the top there is a proposal to make Yandex Browser the default browser. If you specifically downloaded this browser to use it regularly, select "Set as default". But if you want to try it, maybe you should wait.

In any case, it will open before us “ Quick Access Toolbar", which contains bookmarks of popular sites, by default most of them are Yandex services.

But, this panel can be easily customized. How? Let's get a look.

Setting up the Yandex Browser Quick Access Toolbar

At the bottom of the panel, on the right we can see two buttons “ Settings" And " Add" Click "Add" and a line for entering the site address appears. You can also select sites from the list of recommended and popular ones by clicking on the logo of the corresponding site below the address entry line.

Click “Add”

It’s very convenient that you don’t have to enter the site address here in the form “http://pcgu..

My customized panel

How to remove unnecessary sites? For this there is a cross in the upper right corner of each tile.

Pressing special icon in the upper right corner we get to the section "Downloads" or the downloaded files section.

Downloads button

As you can see, I haven’t downloaded anything via Yandex Browser lately, so the list is empty. Let's press the button "All downloads" and let's see what's there.

All Downloads button

Pay attention to the button "Open folder". Clicking this button will open a folder at С/Users/User_name/Downloads or in another way My Computer - Downloads. All downloaded files are stored in it. You can change this folder by going to Settings - All settings - Show advanced settings - Download folder.

Open Folder button

My Computer - Downloads

Working with history in Yandex browser

Click the button "Recently Closed" next to the button "Downloads". Now we can see the last visited sites. Press "The Whole Story" to see a complete list of visited sites.

Let's press the button "Additionally" to see what can be configured in Yandex Browser. And now click "All settings".

Here we have all the settings of Yandex Browser. The following shows what some of the settings do.

Where to start- when you launch the browser, what will open is the Yandex page, the Quick Launch Panel, or the sites you were on when you closed the browser.

Appearance Settings- show the “Yandex” button at the top, left.

Bookmarks bar- this is a panel that is convenient to use in, but in Yandex Browser, it seems, it is not so popular, although .... in general, this is a panel of quick links to sites under the address panel.

Search- as you understand, Yandex is not a despot and understands that you can use not only Yandex search, but also Google or, for example, often use Wikipedia and the search selected here affects the following: when you enter a query in the search bar (addresses), the results will be transferred to the search engine selected by this setting.

Synchronization- if you have a Yandex account, you can store all browser settings remotely and synchronize it on any other computer. It is very comfortable.

User Profiles- this can be useful when you want to open, for example, two VKontakte accounts at the same time on one computer. Then you will need two users, like two different browsers. This is just such an opportunity. Clicking "Add user" you can create a separate shortcut with your own separate bookmarks and settings. This can also be useful when several people use the computer.

It's no secret that many users of current computer systems prefer to have the basic elements used in their work, so to speak, at hand. It is not surprising that the desktop becomes the place to quickly launch them. In this article we will look at how to display the Yandex shortcut on the Desktop. At the same time, we will take into account two decisions relating separately to the browser and the search engine itself.

What do we use: a browser or a search engine?

First of all, when talking about the services and software products provided by Yandex, you need to clearly distinguish between their types.

Quite conventionally, they can be divided into two categories: software products installed on a computer system, and services operating directly on the Internet (mail, search, news, etc.).

As for programs, the most famous of all the products of this developer is Yandex.Browser. Its engine, frankly speaking, is developed on the basis of the world-famous Chromium, which gives reason to doubt the authorship of the company. However, this is not what we are talking about now.

Let's consider another point: is it possible to place a shortcut to “Yandex.Browser” or a search engine on the Desktop, which is called exclusively by software for accessing the Internet. There are at least two solutions here.

How to display the Yandex shortcut on the Desktop: the simplest solution for the browser

Let's start with, perhaps, the simplest one, namely the Internet browser of the same name. How to install a Yandex shortcut on the Desktop? Yes, exactly the same as this is done for all other programs.

There are two methods you can use here. In the first case, you are supposed to find the browser itself or a link to it in the Start menu, and then use the right click to call up a submenu, where you select the command to send a shortcut to the Desktop. In the second option, you can find the executable EXE launch file itself, say, in the same standard one, use again the right click to call up the menu, which contains the line for sending the shortcut to the Desktop.

But this only applies to outdated versions of the browser. All new modifications create icons both in the Desktop location and in the Quick Launch panel automatically (and even install a bunch of additional things).

How to install a Yandex shortcut on your desktop: a technique for a search engine

If we talk specifically about the search engine, the issue here is also resolved quite simply. Let's look at how to create a Yandex shortcut on the Desktop in the simplest way.

If anyone hasn’t been paying attention, take a close look at the running Internet browser with the Yandex start or search page. As a rule, all modern browsers display an icon (logo) of trusted sites to the left of the address bar. And pages with Yandex services are no exception.

The Yandex shortcut is transferred to the Desktop by simply dragging the icon (these are the letters Y or Z to the left of the line) from the browser while pressing the left mouse button. That's all. In this case, you need to minimize or reduce the browser window so that it does not completely cover the Desktop area.

In some cases, you can use another option when the browser window completely covers the Desktop. But then you will have to first move the shortcut to the icon for minimizing all windows (in Windows 7 it is located at the bottom right of the screen), and only after that the shortcut will be placed in the right place.

You can also place a Yandex shortcut on the Desktop using the desktop settings themselves, provided in Windows operating systems of any modification. Here you just need to right-click on a free area of the empty screen, and select the line in the context menu

Next, you will be asked to enter either the program address or the web resource address. In this case, we are interested in the second option. In the site address line we write the address of the Yandex resource. Some systems can, to put it mildly, spit, so you need to enter https (a secure connection) rather than http as a prefix. But in general there shouldn't be any problems.

Bottom line

In general, the Yandex shortcut is transferred to the Desktop quite simply, which is quite a simple matter for a browser, for a search engine or any other service provided by Yandex. Another question is which object or program the created shortcut should be associated with.

It remains to add that the method using your own Desktop settings is universal, since it allows you to create a shortcut for both the program and the web page. But dragging an icon from the browser is easier. But here it’s worth paying attention to one point: whether the browser itself supports displaying icons of trusted sites.

Don't like these options? Do it in the most “old-fashioned” way: select the address and, while holding down the Ctrl key, move it to the Desktop. As a result, a link will appear with the icon of the browser that is installed by default or from which the navigation was made.

A set of additional elements makes any browser more functional, powerful and comfortable for daily use. The “idyll” is broken when, when opening the Yandex browser, the “Taskbar” disappears - this is the bottom panel on the screen; if it disappears, we will not have access to active shortcuts, tray, etc. The reason for the disappearance of multifunctional elements is due to incorrect configuration or accidentally pressing the FullScreen button. It is not difficult to return the bottom and top panels; we can use one of the methods described in the article to secure them.

When you start Yandex Browser, the bottom panel with all the shortcuts, displaying active tasks, time, tray, Start button, etc. may disappear. Several basic conditions can become the root cause of the disorder:

  • The browser is switched to full-screen mode, then the program frame and the panel at the bottom disappear. This feature is useful when used for its intended purpose - viewing content without being distracted by extraneous screen elements. The mode itself can create significant inconvenience if launched unintentionally;
  • The “taskbar” is in the undocked state. The application shortcut bar may become hidden when using various programs. If the panel does not appear when you launch most programs, the problem is most likely a lack of fixation and not a problem with the web browser;
  • The setting “Hide the taskbar in…” mode is set, there are 2 operating mode options: tablet and desktop. When this item is activated, the panel will be hidden every time you move the cursor away from the bottom of the window.

How to pin the “Taskbar” when working in the Yandex browser?

The first thing you should check is whether the “Taskbar” is not displayed only when you are in the Yandex browser or whether it is hidden when you launch any program. In the first case, you should close full-screen mode, and in the second, go to setting up the panel itself.

Another diagnostic method is to move the cursor to the place where the bottom panel should be. If it does not appear, full screen mode is active. If it hides after removing the mouse, the reason is in the Windows settings, not the program itself.

If the “Taskbar” has disappeared while you are in the Yandex browser, we recommend following the following algorithm of actions to solve all the problems listed above.

How to pin the panel while working with Yandex browser:

In rare cases, the “Taskbar” is hidden when opening the Yandex browser due to system failures. During a prolonged system freeze, Windows removes all screen elements because there are not enough system resources for them. If the bottom panel disappears due to the launch of the Yandex web browser for this reason, the panel should appear on its own after a short time (5-45 seconds depending on PC performance). The process will speed up, if the “Yandex application is not responding” window appears, we better select “Quit”.

If the “Taskbar” disappears frequently and regardless of launching the Yandex browser, that is, it is just as likely to disappear when another application is activated – there is a high risk of virus infection. First of all, we recommend eliminating the possibility of a lack of system resources due to weak technical characteristics of the PC or excessive load on it. We simply close unnecessary programs and wait for the files to be copied, games installed, and then launch the browser again.

If the system continues to freeze and automatically hides the “Taskbar” when opening the Yandex browser, it is worth removing the increased load on the system due to viruses, and then removing the infected files.

How to return the bottom panel while working with the Yandex browser when Windows freezes:

  1. Open "Task Manager". The item of the same name appears after right-clicking on the panel below.
  2. Click on the “More details” button (if the “Task Manager” is displayed in a reduced form).
  3. Click on the “CPU” column on the “Processes” tab, so all actions will be arranged according to the number of resources required. We remove the most resource-intensive tasks (taking up 20%), especially if there is an unreadable title and no signature. To end the process, right-click and select “End task”.
  4. The computer should start working better now, but the virus will start again if it is not removed. It is worth running an anti-virus scanner, it can be any anti-virus built into the system or small software products like: Dr. Web, Avira Free Antivirus, Kaspersky Free.

All of the listed methods on how to return the “Taskbar” while in the Yandex browser are best done one by one. If the panel disappears, it is usually due to it being unpinned or accidentally pressing F11. Much less often, the cause of hiding is viral activity.

Fixing the top panel

The browser's full-screen mode also blocks the appearance of the tabbed bar located at the top of the browser. Usually, after pointing at the place where the tabs should be, the panel pops up. If the top panel has disappeared in the Yandex browser, just click F11.

Another reason for the disappearance of the panel at the top is its movement to the other side of the screen. To restore the element’s original position, just right-click on the panel at the bottom and select “Show tabs on top”.

How to restore the bookmarks bar?

The express panel that appears when you go to the main page of the browser is not always suitable for quick access to specific resources. The problem is that it displays frequently opened sites and they are constantly changing. To compile a list of necessary sites, it is better to use the “Bookmarks Bar”.

If the browser hides bookmarks, the panel can be easily returned in one of the following ways:

How to restore the “Toolbar”?

First of all, it’s worth determining what kind of panel it is? – This is the line on which extensions are located in the Yandex browser. Where is the “Toolbar” located in the Yandex browser? – To the right of the “Smart bar”, to the left of the “Downloads” button, under the “Minimize”, “Close” and “Shrink window” or “Make full screen” buttons.

Sometimes the panel stops displaying. Most likely, it disappeared and was replaced by an ellipsis due to the expansion of the search string. Simply move the mouse over the end of the “Smart Line” until the cursor is replaced with multi-directional arrows and drag the end to the left. The endpoint differs depending on the number of extensions.

Also, the reason for the absence of a panel may be the hiding of plugins. To set their display, you must activate the display of buttons. How to do it:

If the “Taskbar” unintentionally disappeared after launching the Yandex browser, this causes discomfort and needs to be fixed for the usual use of the system. Now, knowing how to fix panels, full-screen mode can be used comfortably, activating it during moments of studying information, so that incoming messages and extraneous tabs do not distract. The mode is especially useful for owners of small monitors; they can fit much more information.

Yandex is one of the most popular brands in Russia. This company offers users of the CIS countries a lot of services adapted to local realities, including navigation tools, a search service, a music streaming service and many other services. To quickly access and manage them, the Yandex team created separate applications for each of them. If you are among the fans of this company, then you should definitely take a look at the Yandex panel, which will not be difficult to install. Next, we’ll take a closer look at what extensions Yandex offers us today.

"Yandex. Elements"

Express panel "Yandex" and "Yandex. Elements" is a set of applications that allows you to organize comfortable work with all the company's services in the environment of any modern browser.

All extensions are a copy of the add-ons built into Yandex Browser. In fact, the Yandex panel and elements are a set for transforming Chrome and Firefox into Yandex Browser. Considering the fact that Yandex is a company, like Google, that makes money from services and advertising, this is exactly what they need.

Installation

In order to start working with these tools, just visit the official Yandex. Elements". The site contains links to all available services, and there is also a “Yandex panel”, which you can install by downloading the appropriate extension for your browser. All modern browsers are currently supported, including Firefox, Opera and Chrome (including browsers based on it). Edge is not included in this list, since at the current stage of its development it does not support extensions at all.

Yandex bookmarks panel

The first thing the user will encounter after installing the extension is a modified start page. It contains sites frequently visited or pinned by the user, information about the weather and exchange rates. There are also links at the bottom to navigate to recently closed tabs, the download bar, bookmarks, and browser history. The most important part of this page is the smart search bar, which can provide an answer to a query even before moving to the search page. In practice, this means that if you are looking for the weather in a certain city, you will see the result directly in the search bar, the same applies to exchange rates and mathematical calculations (in fact, we have a calculator and converter built into the search). Or if you are looking for a famous person, place, movie, then a smart search bar will immediately redirect you to a page on Wikipedia or answer a simple question yourself (for example, the question of how long to cook dumplings).

The panel is a customizable page (the “Settings” button in the lower right corner), the user has the right to choose how many sites will be displayed on the page (up to 25), you can add your own sites to the Yandex panel, you can change the background (images from the collection are offered, but you can upload your own). Also in the settings you can allow or deny access to geolocation data and disable the search bar.

We should also talk about the Yandex express panel in the Opera browser. Its functionality and appearance are different from those of Chrome and Firefox. The fact is that some versions of this browser already have a built-in bookmarks bar. Yandex proposes to expand its capabilities by adding interactive pages with services. For example, the weather or traffic information will be displayed right on the start page, the user will not even have to visit the corresponding pages, and quick links to the main, popular Yandex services will also appear. In new versions of the browser (built on Chromium), the panel works the same as in Chrome.

Additional items

The Yandex panel, in addition to the changes to the start page described above, offers much more. This is a whole set of tools for working with the company's services. This is a kind of “Yandex” that organizes quick access to mail, disk, music player, weather and traffic data, and other services. To work with them you need to have an account.

"Yandex Mail"

After you install the Yandex panel, in the top line of your browser, in addition to the usual ones, a mail icon will appear, after clicking on which a window with the latest received letters will open in front of you. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to work with mail this way; you can only find out the sender, subject, and view a small preview of the contents of the letter. To read the letter and send a response, you will have to go to the service website.

"Yandex.Disk"

"Yandex.Weather"

Despite the fact that the weather widget is on the Yandex express panel, it can also be added to the taskbar, where you can see a more detailed forecast for the whole day, and not just the current temperature outside the window. In order to see the weather forecast for the next ten days, you will have to go to the service’s website.

"Yandex.Music"

Instant access to the free Yandex.Music player. This widget allows you to play, stop and switch tracks without visiting the service page. For the widget to work, you need a functioning Yandex. Music account with a full library.

Translations

This small but useful tool will be a real lifesaver for those who are fluent in English and other foreign languages. Unlike the widgets described above, which take up space in this element, it is integrated into the context menu, called by pressing the right mouse button, and allows you to translate the selected text without unnecessary movements.

This extension will help those who love online shopping. When you view certain products on the RuNet, if they are available in the Yandex.Market service, the advisor will find the most advantageous offers with the opportunity to purchase in your region.

Safety

The network security tool closes the line of extensions. This widget is equipped with a database of websites that have been checked for viruses, scams and phishing (theft of logins and passwords). As soon as you try to follow a dangerous link, the extension will display a notification and prevent you from doing so. Moreover, each website in the search results will be rated by this tool and will receive one of three labels:

  • green (safe);
  • yellow (slight risk);
  • red (unsafe).

In fact, the solution is not new, Yandex has nothing to do with it, it is just a slightly modified Web of Trust package distributed in Russia by the company.

conclusions

If you are a fan of Yandex services or just want to get quick access to some functions, then the Yandex panel with a set of extensions will be an excellent solution that will save your time and allow you to comfortably continue working on the network, without being distracted by all sorts of little things like switch the track or view the weather for the day. In addition, the addition can increase the safety of surfing and help with work on foreign resources. In general, the Yandex panel is the simplest and most functional way to give your browser new capabilities.
