ASUS X553MA - blissful

ASUS X553MA
Advantages:
I don't agree with Dan. The tree stump is another topic. Intel, no matter what it is, is always good. I have enough for work. The keyboard is ergonomic, your hands do not get tired. good at everything. I switched from Windows 7 to 8, and still didn’t understand why everyone was criticizing her.
Flaws:
checkmate

ASUS X553MA - Great keyboard

5 Kuprin Denis 15-06-2015

Device owner rating: ASUS X553MA
Advantages:
An excellent keyboard, for me this is probably the most important thing, because it is ergonomic and pleasant to use. Surprisingly light, only 2 kg; previously such a laptop would have weighed 2.5 kg or more.
Flaws:
Intel Pentium. A disk drive, or rather its presence.

ASUS X553MA - Beautiful

5 Roma Suglobov 21-05-2015

Device owner rating: ASUS X553MA
Advantages:
ASUS is generally an excellent company, with a whole load of functionality for little money. Take, take and take again!
Flaws:
I don't like DOS))

ASUS X553MA - 553

5 Sirotin Sergey 21-04-2015

Device owner rating: ASUS X553MA
Advantages:
I really like the design. A quad-core processor, four GB of RAM and a 750 GB hard drive are an excellent configuration option. The operating system is 64-bit, so it supports over 4 GB of RAM. The video graphics are integrated and are enough for everything. WiFi is fast, I haven’t used LAN yet. The drive draws on the disks.

Disadvantages: Only two USB.

The Asus x553m laptop has established itself as a good office solution for those people who need a laptop computer just for this and nothing more. Like any other device, the Asus x553m had positive aspects, however, later there were also negative ones. The first thing that catches your eye is the cost of the device - it is quite affordable, at the same time, there is a sane processor on board, with 2 or 4 cores to choose from, however, the built-in adapter and lack of RAM in some modifications kills all the advantages, as a rule, not enough for a modern person 2GB of RAM, despite the fact that the lion's share is consumed by the pre-installed WIN 8. The built-in adapter will not allow you to play most games, although if you only focus on working with text, surfing the Internet and watching streaming video, then the Asus x553m Laptop is a pretty good choice .

Laptop Asus x553m: characteristics and price

Typically, the preinstalled operating system on a laptop is Win 8.

Core frequency -1830-2160 MHz;

RAM – 2-4GB;

Screen – 15.6 d;

Laptop Asus x553m: reviews

— Drivers for the line of laptops on the manufacturer’s website are installed only on WIN 8;

— Design, in general, is up to par;

— I'm pleased with the price;

— The laptop’s battery is good, lasting more than three hours of continuous operation under load;

— However, the battery is non-removable;

— To install Win 7 you will have to dance with a tambourine;

— The Asus x553m keyboard is quite comfortable;

— A 500 GB hard drive is quite enough;

— The material of the laptop case leaves much to be desired. The plastic looks very thin and flexes constantly;

— Lack of indicators on the keyboard;

— Two USB connectors, sometimes it seems that this is extremely insufficient;

— The sound quality is acceptable, but no more;

— The built-in video card is not at all comparable to anything more or less modern. In other words, you're unlikely to play games on this laptop;

— A very weak 0.3 MP camera, it’s unclear why it’s needed at all;

— An ideal option for those who will use the laptop exclusively for watching low-quality films and editing documents;

— In order to install additional RAM you will have to completely disassemble the laptop;

— On some modifications of RAM, 2GB is installed, and Win 8 is installed; for the normal operation of this operating system, this amount of RAM is clearly not enough, when purchasing, think about it;

— In general, when reinstalling the operating system, most users experience problems;

— The Asus x553m laptop is very light and thin, which adds additional charm to the device;

— In general, the build quality can be called good; no major problems with the assembly were identified;

— Pleasant color scheme, or rather the ratio of black and white colors, which looks very original;

Conclusion

As already mentioned, the Asus x553m laptop is a good solution for those people who will not professionally edit sound, video, or play games, but for working with text editors, surfing the Internet, and even simple games, the laptop is quite suitable, besides, Let's not forget about the price category of the device and then everything will fall into place. In general, if you don’t demand much from the device, then the Asus x553m leaves more positive impressions than negative ones.

Rated 7/10 for price, build quality, spacious hard drive,

Mention of products 1

I welcome all guests and participants of the CSN expert club!

Today I will introduce you to one of the ASUS laptops, namely the K553M model.

If you look at the catalog of the CSN store, the range of models with this designation will be in several versions and with different price ranges. This is all because the assembly of each of them is different. I received a laptop with the exact model X553MA-SX847D for review. A year ago, this laptop cost ten thousand rubles less. Now it’s no secret to anyone that the price tag for equipment has risen sharply. But, unfortunately, we cannot influence this in any way and many have long ago become accustomed to it. Those who have the finances buy laptops with more productivity, and for those who have some difficulties with this, they purchase budget options. It is precisely this relatively budget solution from ASUS that we will look at in this review!

PACKING AND EQUIPMENT

Package:

The laptop comes in a designer box, but as long as I can remember, their laptops have had this design for a long time. You will not find any noteworthy information on the packaging.

On the front side, in large letters on a black background, is the company’s slogan: “In search of the incredible.” The reverse side has a gray background, there is a brief technical specification and a factory sticker that acts as a “seal”. On one of the sides there are information stickers.

The packaging has a carrying handle and makes it easy to transport the laptop after purchase.

The packaging has a folding side. Everything inside is divided into two sections. Basically there is a laptop, documentation, a software disk, and on the right is a charger.

You will not find a rechargeable battery in the package. Don’t worry, in this model it is not removable, but built-in.

Contents of delivery:

The equipment of this model consists of:

Laptop;

Charger;

Disk with drivers and ASUS software;

User manuals in two languages;

Warranty card;

Additional ASUS documentation.

Compared to previous versions of the company's laptops, this model has a more advanced power supply. It is very compact, for comparison I am demonstrating the dimensions of this charger with the power supply of an ASUS TP500L laptop. As you can see, the difference is significant.

In this version, not only the dimensions have changed, but also the technical data of the device:

Model – AD890026;

Input – 100-240 ~ 50-60 Hz 0.8A;

Output – 19V =1.75A

I really liked this smaller version, it is much more convenient than the previous one.

DESIGN

For those who follow the range of ASUS laptops, the design of this model will not seem remarkable. Standard dimensions, light weight, completely plastic body. This is what gives the laptop some mobility, because it weighs only a little more than two kilograms. Even the manufacturer himself classifies this model as “for everyday use.”

The laptop has a textured surface on the top cover, with the ASUS logo engraved in the center. The case, as I said, is plastic, black. The annoying fact is that the manufacturer did not take into account that fingerprints remain on this surface and they are very clearly visible in the light. Of course, the surface is pleasant to the touch and beautiful in design, but, in my opinion, if you are making a mobile device, then you need to think about making the surface so that no one even thinks about fingerprints.

The bottom of the laptop is made of matte plastic. The lid covers the entire surface; there are no additional compartments for access to the “filling” in this version. To perform an “upgrade” you will need to remove the cover completely. Surprisingly, there were no holes for ventilation on this surface.

In the center there is a sticker with brief technical instructions and the date of manufacture of the laptop (in our case, May 2015).

At the bottom of the case there are holes for two speakers.

To ensure the anti-slip function, the design includes four rubberized feet.

As I wrote above, the dimensions of the device are standard - 252 x 380 x 25.3 mm.

The laptop has two indicator lights, which are located on the front end in the left corner. The engraved designations of these indicators are located in the working area of the laptop. The first indicator indicates power, the second indicates battery status.

Indicator color codes:

1. Green – power supply;

Orange – battery powered;

2. Green – battery is fully charged;

Orange – charging is in progress.

If you look at the back end of the laptop, nothing is noticeable at first glance, but this is not so - there are ventilation holes here.

All working interfaces of the laptop are located on the left side:

Connector for power supply;

RJ-45 network port;

D-SUB connector;

HDMI connector;

USB 3.0 port;

Card reader;

USB 2.0 port;

Headphone-microphone jack.

On the other side, there is a DVD drive and a Kensington lock.

Around the screen there is a wide frame made of textured matte black plastic, but the end of the screen has a glossy finish.

The webcam is located in a standard place, in the center. At the bottom is the ASUS logo.

The working area of the laptop is a solid plastic panel made of textured plastic, this panel goes deep into the center. This design application only brings ease of use.

The keyboard is standard, island type. The key travel is small. During operation, it was noticeable how the keyboard flexes a little, but this fact does not affect typing in any way.

The keyboard has a number pad, but the Num Look and Caps Look keys do not have indicator lights.

The power button is located in the upper right corner and has a rectangular shape, the surface of the button is made in the likeness of the top cover.

Function keys F1-F12, as in many other laptops, and in this version, perform standard functions. The use and activation of which is accompanied by an additional press of the Fn key.

The laptop's touchpad is very interesting. It stands out on the work surface and is pleasant to the touch. The keys are not separated in any way, but form a single whole with the main working field. It was convenient to work with it.

On the left side there is an INTEL sticker, which indicates the presence of an Intel Pentium processor in this laptop.

On the right side there is a branded ASUS sticker that tells about the features of the laptop:

Efficient cooling;

Convenient touch interface;

Clear and powerful sound;

Availability of HDMI;

Availability of USB 3.0.

SCREEN

This laptop uses a 15.6 inch TN+film matrix.

Brand - Chimei Innolux;

Monitor ID – CMO15A7

Model - N156BGE-L21;

Display resolution - 1366x768 pixels;

Screen surface – glossy;

This matrix is budget, which affects viewing angles, the presence of inversion and color distortion...

BIOS

The BIOS for this laptop model is standard, there is nothing interesting in it.

SOUND

Two stereo speakers are responsible for the sound. Thanks to SonicMaster technology, the sound doesn't seem too compromised. It will be just right for everyday use.

TESTING

The laptop comes without an operating system. I, in turn, installed Windows 8.1 on it for one language 64 bit.

The package includes a disk with drivers and proprietary software. With its help, the missing drivers were installed, but I did not install utilities from the disk.

The laptop has a processor – quad-core Intel Pentium N3540 with a frequency of 2.16 GHz. There is a built-in video core – Intel(R) HD Graphics.

The laptop is equipped with one stick of RAM – DDR3 4GB. The speed is low.

The disk that acts as a hard drive is ST500LT012-1DG142. This drive is manufactured by Seagate and is a standard hard drive for laptops. The operating speed of this disk can be classified as average.

Let's perform a series of tests to check performance:

Cinebench 15

I cannot call the results obtained OpenGL – 6.4FPS and CPU – 122cb successful. This is a small value, but this performance is quite enough to work with office applications.

Fritz Chess Benchmark

SVPmark 3.0.3b

Now let's move on to a series of benchmarks. First, let's test the laptop using the famous program - 3D MARK.

Fire Strike 1.1

Graphics Score - 124;

Physics Score - 1861;

Combined Score - 0.

SKY DIVER 1.0

Graphics Score - 450;

Physics Score - 1316;

Combined Score - 515.

CLOUD GATE 1.1

Graphics Score - 1246;

Physics Score - 1249;

ICE STORM 1.2

Graphics Score - 12588;

Physics Score - 13091;

Benchmark series Unigine.

Heaven 4.0. and Valley Benchmark 1.0.

GAME TESTS

Having received the benchmark results, it became clear that you definitely cannot play resource-intensive games on this laptop. But what if you still want to play? To do this, you can download games from the windows store. For example, I tested two games GT Racing 2 and Prime World: Defenders.

2) Prime World: Defenders.

Both the first and second games were convenient, pleasant and interesting to play. Such games are less resource intensive. Therefore, any freezes and delays are excluded.

TEMPERATURE

During testing, temperatures were measured repeatedly. The CPUID HWMonitor program helped me with this.

The results are of course predictable. At full load the temperature peak is very noticeable and noticeable. The lack of additional ventilation holes has quite an impact on what is happening. I present to everyone the results for comparison:

AUTONOMY

A Li-Ion rechargeable battery - X453-42 - is responsible for autonomous operation in this laptop; I recorded its characteristics programmatically:

The utility Imtec Battery Mark helped me test the laptop's operating time. Each test was carried out at 100% screen brightness and the Wi-Fi module was turned on.

1) At full load, this laptop can work for about 2 hours;

2) Almost 3 hours is enough to watch the film;

3) About 3.5 hours will be enough to listen to music;

4) Surfing the Internet can last about 4 hours.

5) Reading or typing will be available for about 4.5 hours.

RESULTS

Summing up my acquaintance with this laptop, I cannot help but note the build quality of this laptop. And to remind everyone that today we reviewed a representative with “budget” performance. Therefore, the results obtained during testing fully confirm its status. This option is perfect for both the office and everyday home tasks. The price for this miracle of technology at the time of writing the review was about 26 thousand rubles.

Pros:

High-quality assembly;

Quiet during operation;

Good in autonomy;

Lightweight and mobile;

Minuses:

Difficult access for “upgrade”;

No additional ventilation;

High temperature under load;

Body plastic is easily soiled.

    For a laptop with a drive - thin! For the price, the diagonal is normal and the keyboard is ergonomic. Very quiet. It practically does not heat up, although for some reason the seller claimed the opposite. Very good camera, the reception picture is simply exceptional. Easy.

    Anyone who writes that the body is not collapsible is a loser. I disassemble and assemble in 15 minutes. Minutes is that there is one slot for RAM. And so in the end the laptop is ok

    Not practicality, a mockery of admins and ordinary users! The battery is not removable, it is not easy to add memory, it is difficult to remove the screw, it is difficult to repair and clean, it is clear that it is made disposable. 2 USB ports!

    The laptop was returned from the service with the formulation of a working matrix. In fact, it turns out that the X553Ma has a very cheap matrix installed, which also produces distorted colors and shadows at different angles of the monitor screen.
    If I had known that after installing the OS I would see on the screen what I see now, I would never have bought this device.

    The caps indicators and numeric keypad are terribly missing. Sometimes it’s a little slow, for unknown reasons it starts to “fly”, then it slows down again. I don't see a pattern yet. 2 USB is not enough, but the hub in 3.0 solves the problem. Many people talk about access to the memory bar, I don’t need it yet, but the problem is obvious. The sound is loud, but unpleasant; for music it is better to have an extra one. columns.

    1. Everything in the laptop is done to prevent you from installing Windows 7.
    2. Non-removable battery, no windows at the bottom for HDD and memory.
    3. quiet dull sound.
