Working with the UltraISO program

    Ultra ISO has a number of advantages over other programs:
  • Fast image creation and recording;
  • User-friendly interface;
  • Wide functionality with minimal load on the computer.
    Let's take a closer look at what UltraISO can do:
  • Create images of CD/DVD disks, USB flash cards, floppy disks, as well as images of hard drives (image size no more than 50GB);
  • It is possible to edit images (adding, deleting, changing folders and files);
  • Ability to recognize more than 30 image formats;
  • Optimizing the structure of the disk image, this speeds up its operation and the time it takes to create an image from any files, CD/DVD disk or hard drive;
  • Does not conflict with other emulator programs (Alcohol 52% (120%), Daemon Tools, etc.);
  • Ability to create multiboot disks, floppy disks, USB flash cards;
  • The ability to record both a regular image and a bootable one on CD/DVD discs;
  • Supports most well-known operating systems.

The functionality of the program is impressive, regardless of its simple interface.

Let's move on to working with the UltraISO program. Having launched the program by double-clicking on the program shortcut on the desktop, we will see the main UltraISO working window.

At the top is the main menu of the program, just below is the quick launch panel.

Now let's look at the most popular functions of the UltraISO program.

1. Create a disk image.
Insert the disc you want to make an image into the CD or DVD drive. Then we launch the UltraISO program, click the top menu item Tools -> Create CD image, click on it and see the image creation settings menu.

This menu can also be called up from the quick launch panel by clicking on the Create CD image icon or pressing the F8 key.

In the window that appears, select the CD/DVD drive (if there are several of them), and just below select the location where to save the created image. Next, specify the output format (I recommend *.ISO or .MDF/.MDS) and click the Make button. The speed of image creation depends on the speed of the drive, the characteristics and type of disk, the amount of data on the disk and the power of the computer.

2. Download the disk image.
Before loading the virtual disk, you may need to set the number of virtual drives (if 1 drive is enough for you, you can skip this setting). Go to the top menu and select Options -> Settings. In the window that appears, select the Virtual drive tab at the top and in the Number of devices line indicate the number of virtual drives. For my version of the program, the maximum number of virtual drives is 8. Select the number of drives you need, for example 2. By default, after installing UltraISO, 1 virtual drive is created.

Now, let's mount the image into the UltraISO virtual drive. In the top menu, click Tools -> Mount to virtual drive, you can also click the desired icon from the quick access panel or press the key (F6).

In the window that appears, select the virtual drive where the image will be mounted, then select the image file, to do this, click the Browse button (the button with the image of three dots). Next, click Mount. It may take 2 clicks.

As soon as the download message appears next to the drive you have selected, you can close the window.

To open the mounted image, go to my My Computer and click on the virtual drive, you can also right-click on the virtual drive and select UltraISO -> Auto play from the menu that appears.

To remove a virtual disk that has become unnecessary, you need to right-click on the drive and select UltraISO -> Eject from the menu that appears.

3. Burn the created image to a CD/DVD.
This function is very useful, as it allows you to create personal boot disks of operating systems, anti-virus boot disks, full game disks, etc.

To burn an image, you will need a blank disk and a finished image. Then in the top menu, select Tools -> Burn CD image, or press the corresponding icon on the quick launch panel or the F7 key.

In the window that appears, select the drive to record the image, Write speed, Write method - you can not change it. In the Image file field, specify the path to the image that should be recorded. Then press the Record button and watch the recording process. When the recording is complete, your drive will open automatically, and an UltraISO warning will be displayed on the computer screen indicating that the disc has finished burning.

One of the most popular programs that allows you to burn discs or their images is UltraISO. If you know how to use UltraISO, you can easily convert CD/DVDdisks, as well as edit them, change the content, emulate the operation of disks and create bootable flash drives. The UltraISO program works with disk images in .iso format, and also supports images created in programs such as Nero or Alcohol 120%.

General characteristics of the UltraISO program

Before using the UltraISO program, you need to download and install it on your computer. You can do this, for example, using this link. After you launch the program, you will see its main window, which consists of four parts.

How to use UltraISO to create a disk image

A disk image is an informal term for the name of a file containing the complete structure of a system of files and data located on a disk or flash drive. That is, a disk image is the data that is, for example, on a CD/DVD disk that you hold in your hands. This disc image can be recorded in many different formats, but the most common are ISO, NRG, IMG, MDS/MDF, CUE, BIN, CCD. At the same time, the ISO format is almost universal; almost all other programs support it. Disk images are needed for backing up data—for example, an image of your computer's hard drive—and for distributing and sharing all kinds of software.

In order to burn a disk image using the UltraISO program. Launch it and add the files you need to the top right window.

After that, go to the main menu and open the “File” section. Select "Save As" from the drop-down menu.

A new window will open in front of you, in which you need to select the disk image format and the folder in which you want to save it.

Once you do this, the download process will begin. And you can later find the disk image in the folder you specified.

If you want to burn a disk image from a CD you already have. We need to do things a little differently. Insert the disc you want to image into the drive, then launch the UltraISO program. Click on the disk icon - “Create image”.

A window like this will appear in front of you.

Select the drive in which you have the desired disk installed, specify the folder where you want to save it, and click the “Make” button.

After the burning process is completed, the disk image you need will be located in the folder you specified.

Nowadays it is difficult to imagine a person who would not have a computer at home. Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances may occur that can only be resolved by reinstalling the operating system. This article will look at how to install an operating system on a flash drive using the UltraISO program, and how to install 7 from a flash drive.

Preparing a flash drive for installing a Windows 7 image on it

Depending on the size of the image with the operating system, you need to select a flash drive of suitable size. After this, if you have any files on it, you need to save them on another medium, since (Important!) all data will be deleted when formatting and installing the system image.

After all the necessary files from the flash drive have been saved, it needs to be formatted. To do this, go to My Computer, select the flash drive and, right-clicking on it, select format in the context menu.

In the window that appears, in the “Capacity” section, you need to check the size of your flash drive. In the “File system” section, leave the NTFS format. In the “Cluster Size” section, leave it as default. Be sure to check the box next to “Quick Format”. After completing the procedures, you must click the “Format” button and confirm the start of the procedure. When finished, a window with a completion message will appear. The flash drive is ready for.

Installing the UltraISO program

First of all, you need to download the program distribution kit. It is recommended to do this from the official website of the developer. When the UltraISO program is downloaded, run the file.

In the window that appears, you must accept the license agreement and click next.

After this, select the path where the program will be installed or you can leave it as default.

Don't forget to sign UltraISO, as it should appear in the Start Menu. After this, specify the necessary parameters:

  • shortcut on the desktop (as a rule, it is necessary for quick access to the program);
  • associate the .iso file with UltraISO (it is necessary to check the box next to this item in order for .iso files to be opened using this program);
  • install ISOCD/DVD emulator (allows you to install a virtual drive with which you can open .iso files).

When all the settings have been made, click the “Install” button. After completing the installation of UltraISO, in the window that appears, click the “Finish” button. The installation is complete and the program is ready to use.

Burning an operating system image to a USB flash drive using UltraISO

Before you do, you need to make sure you have an image file with the .iso extension. If there is none, you need to create it from disk or download it from the Internet. In order to do this, you can use any image creation program or make it in the UltraISO program. To do it in this program you need:

  • Insert the disk with the operating system and run UltraISO for a trial period.
  • In the program, find the image creation icon, or Tools/Create CD image, or press the F8 button on the keyboard.
  • In the window that appears, you need to select the drive on which the system is installed, the location where to save the image file, select the .iso format and click the create button.

After completing the process of creating a Windows 7 distribution, you need to write it to a USB flash drive. To do this, without leaving the UltraISO program, click File/Open, find our downloaded system image and click “Open”.

After that, go to the Boot/Burn Hard Disk Image menu.

In the window that opens, you need to select your flash drive in the Disk Drive field and format it again, and only then click the “Burn” button.

In the next window you need to confirm the continuation of the process. We wait for the installation to complete, after which we press the “Back” button and close the UltraISO program. The Windows 7 operating system image is installed.

Setting the flash drive to boot into BIOS

When you turn on the computer, you must enter the BIOS using the Delete (Del), Esc or F2 buttons on the keyboard to set boot priorities. Be sure to insert the flash drive before turning it on, since there are cases that some equipment does not detect this type of media and may simply not see it if it is inserted after turning it on.

After you have entered the BIOS, go to the Boot tab and set the startup priority of USB-HDD first. As a rule, everything is changed using the F5 and F6 buttons, but it can be different (on the right it will be indicated how you can change).

Installing Windows 7

Let's proceed directly to installing the operating system on the computer. When exiting the BIOS, the computer should restart and a prompt will appear asking you to press any key to continue booting. If this does not happen, it means that either the information on the flash drive was written incorrectly, or the drive cannot read it, or the settings in the BIOS were not saved.

After pressing any key, the necessary Windows 7 files should begin downloading. After this procedure is completed, a window will appear with a choice of language and keyboard layout.

Select the required parameters and click next. In the next window, click the “Install” button. The operating system selection will then appear. Having selected the Windows 7 we need, click next.

Be sure to agree to the license agreement and continue by selecting the full installation.

The window that appears will present a list of disks on which you can install your system. Before installation, be sure to configure the desired disk. To do this, click on the “Disk Settings” button at the bottom (in the English version “Drive options”).

On the selected one, click the “Format” button to delete all data. It must be formatted in NTFS format. After formatting is complete, select the disk and click next. The installation of Windows 7 will begin.

During installation, the computer may be restarted, and the process will continue after that. When the installation is complete, the system will boot the last installed system and configure the first launch of Windows 7 and check the performance of the video adapter.

After this, a window will appear in which you must specify the Username and the Name of your computer.

In the next window, you must enter the product key, or uncheck the automatic registration on the Internet. Click next. The system will then offer to automatically protect your computer and Windows 7 by installing updates. In general, it is recommended to select "Use recommended settings."

Next, set the time and date on the computer. After which the desktop will be prepared and Windows 7 will be finally loaded. Now you just need to install the necessary drivers and programs. The installation is complete and the computer is ready to use.

Nowadays, the use of disks is no longer popular, since many PCs and laptops are produced even without a disk drive. For this reason, the question of how to make a bootable USB flash drive for Windows 7 (UltraISO or another program will be used is up to you) is more relevant than ever. Let's figure out what you need to have to create it and why you might need such a bootable flash drive.

Possible and problems

Using an operating system such as Windows may be accompanied by various unexpected problems and malfunctions. The operating system often starts to work with serious glitches, and sometimes even stops loading. It is impossible to insure yourself against this, and also to predict such a state of affairs.

It happens that problems with the operating system are eliminated by the usual system restore function. To do this, you just need to launch it, if, of course, you made save checkpoints and you had this system running. If there is no way to start recovery, then Windows 7 can save the situation. Of course, you can run from a Windows disk, but a flash drive is more convenient and mobile. Moreover, netbooks, for example, do not have a disk drive.

Reinstalling the system - solving the problem

There are often cases when a serious problem can only be fixed by reinstalling your OS (a bootable USB flash drive image of Windows 7 is also suitable for this), if you have not enabled the Windows and data backup function. A disk or flash drive with an image can be used for recovery, reinstallation, and reinstallation of the system.

Advantages of a flash drive

Most often, of course, the distribution kit with the operating system is recorded on a regular DVD. But, you see, this is no longer relevant now. And storing an OS image on such a disk is quite difficult due to the fact that it can easily be damaged by any mechanical impact. Just one small scratch can render the drive unrecoverable, and therefore your system as well. A bootable Windows 7 flash drive (ISO image on it) will be a way out of this situation. Installing a Windows system from a USB flash drive is no different from the usual process of installing an operating system from a disk.

A USB drive with an operating system image is better protected from various types of damage than a DVD disc. In addition, the flash drive is smaller in size and can be easily moved without any problems or damage.

Main question

And, of course, the main question is how to make a bootable USB flash drive for Windows 7. UltraISO is one of the programs that will help you easily and quickly create an image of any disk. Besides it, there are also other applications for these purposes. But we will talk, as you already understood, about the UltraISO program.

Tricks of the program

This program is paid, but nevertheless has some free trial period. You will be able to use the free version of UltraISO, but with one limitation - the file size of your image should not exceed 300 MB. Yes, this is such a cunning program. A bootable Windows 7 flash drive will undoubtedly not fit into these megabytes. So the solution would be portable versions of the UltraISO program.

Rules for creating an image for a flash drive in UltraISO

So, we come to the main question of this article. How to create a bootable Windows 7 USB flash drive using UltraISO. By the way, in a similar way you can burn the image of the now popular Windows 8 onto it.

To create a bootable flash drive in this program, you first need to run it with administrator rights. After that, click “Open” at the top of the UltraISO program window panel. Next, in the explorer window that opens, you need to select the Windows operating system image for further recording on a flash drive.

In the window called “Open ISO file” you must select the image of your operating system and click on the “Open” button. If you are interested in how to make a bootable USB flash drive for Windows 7, UltraISO will give you the opportunity to select the Windows 7 OS image, as well as any other: Vista, XP, Eight. Next, in the program window, on the right side, an image of the required operating system appears. Now connect your flash drive to your PC via a USB connector, if you have not already done so.

Features of a flash drive and its formatting

It is important to note that a flash drive for recording an image of the popular Windows 7 or Eight operating system must have a memory capacity of at least 4 GB, and also be formatted in the FAT32 file system. In order to do so, you can also use the UtraISO program right before you start recording the image.

note

Remember that if there is any data on the flash drive that you need, and you do not want to lose it forever, then copy it somewhere before formatting. After all, this procedure will delete all data from it.

Further creation steps

After that, in the program window, click on the “Boot” button, and then in the context menu, select the item that offers to record a hard drive image. Then, after a window called “Burn disk image” appears, you must make sure that you have selected the correct disk to create a bootable flash card with the operating system. You must be sure that the flash drive is located on the correct letter of the alphabet.

Next, in the “Recording method” item, click “USB-HDD+”, and then proceed to format the drive or directly record the image of the Windows 7 operating system. If the flash drive was formatted in advance, before recording the image, then you simply click “Burn”. If you do so in advance, first click on “Format”.

UltraISO formatting process

So let's look at the steps for in this program. In the “Format” window, you need to select the FAT32 file system, and then click “Start”. Then click OK in the warning window. Formatting, as already mentioned, destroys all data on the flash drive.

After this process is completed, a window will appear in which you will be notified that the operation was successful. Click OK again and close the formatting window.

The next step is to go to the Write Disk Image tab and click “Burn” to start creating a flash drive with the image. You will see a “Hint” window, which will warn you that all data from the card will be deleted. Click "Yes". Now the process of recording the operating system has begun. The writing speed of a USB flash drive with an image directly depends on the capabilities of your PC. After a while, the image will be written, which you will learn from the Write Disk Image tab, where a notification will appear that the recording has been completed. Well, you have learned how to make a bootable USB flash drive for Windows 7. You can close UltraISO, it has already done its job.

Finishing touches

After all of the above and done, you need to open Explorer and make sure that the image of the Windows operating system is actually recorded on the drive. If you open the flash drive, you will see a system image there. As mentioned earlier, the process of creating an image of another version of the OS is no different from this. In order to install the operating system, you will need to enable priority for loading the OS from a USB drive in the BIOS.

Now you are not afraid of any failures or malfunctions, because you will always have a working bootable flash drive with a system for restoring or reinstalling Windows at hand, which will allow you not to waste time searching for a new image if any problems arise. The last fact is very important in our dynamic times, when every second counts. In addition, such a solution will also be relevant for those who make money by installing and reinstalling operating systems. Agree, it’s much more convenient to carry a flash drive with you, and every PC has USB outputs.

Recently, the method of recording images on a Flash drive has become increasingly relevant. This was influenced by the fact that the operating speed of drives is higher than that of an optical disk, i.e. and you will install Windows faster. In this article we will clearly and correctly show how to burn an image to a flash drive via UltraISO, highlighting the main points, and here you can proceed to download this software if you have not already installed it. In some new computers, especially compact ones, the disk drive is no longer included in the package, so having an image on a flash drive is already a necessity.

Don't forget to check the amount of free space on the Flash drive with the size of the image so that no problems arise and you don't have to be distracted and waste time on cleaning. But how much minimum space is needed? You need to start from the size of the image. For example, before writing a Windows 7 image to a USB flash drive via Ultra ISO, you need to have order 2.5 GB available space . For other versions - XP, Vista, 8/8.1 - this number can vary, respectively, up, and sometimes down. Hence, in order for you to record properly, you at least need to have a Flash drive 4 GB, and whether it’s a regular flash drive or a 2 TB portable drive, there’s not much difference. Apart from the program and the drive (and a little attention and ability to follow instructions), you won't need anything else. And in general, the operation of how to write Windows to a flash drive via Ultra ISO, is quite simple and does not require much effort from the user, and also does not create problems.

But imagine that just recently no one even imagined that the PC industry would step forward so far. When Bill Gates demonstrated a 5 MB floppy disk, saying that he would store all the information he needed on it, did he think about what PC technology would be like in a few years?

Would 5 MB be enough for you now? Can you imagine how much work was done so that, for example, you don’t have to worry about how to create a bootable Windows 7 UltraISO flash drive? The special contribution here is not only engineering - teams of programmers (and what would we do without them) also know their work, and collectively progress is achieved. That's it... Now let's go back, the next link contains the software distribution Ultra ISO. Download if you don't have it. Let's move on and don't be shy!

To record in the program, you first need to open the image:
