Video overlay

Overlay video is a system method of playing video directly from the computer's memory to a video card, bypassing the Windows graphics system. This technology was developed for weak computers of the 90s and early 2000s to allow high-quality video viewing at no extra cost. On modern computers, this technology is no longer necessary, so we have stopped supporting it on Windows 7. Due to antivirus programs that often identified the overlay video interception algorithm as malicious, we excluded this code from the program starting with version 4.4.

If you need to use the overlay video interception mode on the Windows XP operating system, you can download the server module of the program version 4.2 from the website and install it to use this function.

Most video players use video overlay technology to display images on the computer screen, this reduces the load on the processor and increases image quality. LiteManager allows you to intercept overlay video.

So you've launched TrueView video ads to reach the right audience and increase brand awareness. Now you need to make sure that the audience interacts more actively with your advertising.

Add interactive elements so that viewers can not only watch the video, but also interact with your brand. This will also allow you to adjust your ads to achieve your desired marketing goal. For example, increase the number of app installations, website visits, or sales.

Here are some examples of how to use interactive features in video ads:

TrueView video advertising is billed on a cost-per-view basis. You will only be charged when the user watches or interacts with the video for at least 30 seconds (or the entire video if it is shorter). For example, clicks on a call-to-action overlay, teaser, tooltip icon, or companion banner.

Note. Some interactive features may not be available on all platforms. For example, only some of the functions of the mobile version of the YouTube website (m.youtube.com) are supported on mobile devices.

Tips for Shopping Campaigns End screens

There are two types of screensavers: automatic and final. The first ones are created automatically in Google Ads and appear for a few seconds at the end of the video ad. They contain information about your products and services. The latter are set up by the author of the YouTube video, and they are shown not only in ads, but also in the video itself.

YouTube end screens

In YouTube Studio, you can create end screens to display after your videos. They can only be placed in videos lasting at least 25 seconds. With their help, you can work with your audience, including:

  • recommend videos, playlists and YouTube channels to viewers;
  • offer to subscribe to your channel;
  • encourage viewers to visit your website, purchase a product with the channel logo, or participate in a fundraising project.

Are you ready for the next piece of knowledge about effective promotion on YouTube? Then let's go! Today we will talk about what overlays are and “what they are eaten with” :)

Overlays are a free way to advertise any product, service, website, online store, which you can place on your channel completely free of charge. Popping up in your videos on the channel, the overlay will lead the user to your or any other resource, provided that you are of interest to the viewer. This way you can direct channel traffic, so to speak, in the right direction, that is, where you need it. Since overlays are still advertising, you can place your overlays on other people’s channels only for money.

Benefits of YouTube Overlays

You can only appreciate the benefits of overlays when you compare them with other interactive elements in the video. For example, if we compare overlays with annotations, the difference will be that you can only place a link from annotations leading to your site. If you make money from affiliate programs, then placing a link in the annotations, as you already understood, will not be possible. The only solution is to use overlays for this purpose, because in them you can place both referral links and links to any external resources.

How to install overlays?

In order to install overlays, you need to go and log in to Google Adwords. Here you need to select the “Create campaign” function:

Then click “Video” and fill in the “Campaign Name” and “Budget” fields. Next, we need to specify the name of the ad group and insert the URL of the video on which we want to place the overlay.

On the next settings page, you will need to select the In-Display ad type and fill out the title and description fields for your overlay. Be sure to check the box next to “My YouTube Channel Page” and don’t forget to “Save.”

The next step is to link ads to your YouTube channel. After that, we go to the YouTube channel and check that the connection is correct. Go to “Video Manager”, in the “Channel” section “Advanced”. If everything is in order here, you can start setting up your first advertising campaign.

In order to make the overlay more attractive, it is better to add the words “discounts”, “promotions”, “inexpensive” and the like to the title. And if the advertising in the overlay coincides with the theme of the video, this will give the greatest results.

To get the most out of your video, you need to use all the methods and tools that will help turn your viewers into customers and increase your income.

To do this, we place all possible interactive elements in the video, so:

  • Leave a link under the video, although this is an old-fashioned method, it still works well.
  • Post cool annotations with a call to action.
  • Make mobile tips, maybe with surveys, their advantage is that the tips are displayed on mobile devices.
  • Add contacts to your video during editing. If your video is downloaded to their computer, the only coordinates you can leave are the contact information in the video.
  • Insert a clickable button into the video to direct you to purchase a product or service.

These are the main tools that work most effectively in combination with each other, the main thing is to correctly place them in the video and set the time stamps correctly.
