What is it and how to use the system. What type of PayPal account should I open? When registering, I was offered a choice of two account types: “Personal” and “Corporate”. Which one should you choose? Payment limits, withdrawal restrictions

PayPal money is a real currency and is accepted by over 90% of the world's online merchants. An account opened in the system makes it possible to make purchases in online stores and participate in online auctions. A big advantage of PayPal is the insurance of transactions from unreliable sellers: if the goods are not shipped, PayPal will return the money transferred to the supplier.

The PayPal system has a multi-currency platform and provides a set package of services for each country depending on its status with restrictions and tolerances. Until recently, the package of the Russian branch of PayPal included only services for depositing funds into an account and paying using the online purchasing system. Most often, PayPal was used by Russian buyers for purchases on resources such as eBay or AliExpress.

However, the service for withdrawing funds received from the system was not available to Russians. But recently Russia was given a higher status and the opportunity not only to pay for goods, but also to make transactions to withdraw funds from PayPal to a card.

Now in Russia, clients of the system can not only create a wallet and open an account, but also link a credit card and send payments. Registration, opening an account in the system, sending payments are free. Commissions are usually taken from the recipient of the money, the average percentage is 1.9% of the payment amount.

This percentage depends on the recipient's country, account type, etc. Currency conversion is carried out using PayPal or the bank making the payment. PayPal commission for currency transactions is 2.5%.

How to use PayPal in Russia: registering with PayPal

To start using PayPal, register in the system. This is a free service and no separate payments are required. Two types of accounts are offered: for individuals and for companies.

An account for individuals allows you to pay for goods without indicating the company name. A corporate account for companies will allow you to conduct transactions from a legal entity.

Select the desired option and click the “Open Account” button. You will need to enter your bank card number, personal data, and come up with a password. When registering, you must indicate your official data; if there is an error in it or even a pseudonym, then when the system checks, the account will be considered fake and blocked.

After selecting the country and user status, you will need to enter your e-mail address, password and postal address, and you will also need to link your card to Paypal. You can use the payment service only through a linked debit bank card; it must be opened in the name of the person who is registering.

It is to this card that you will subsequently withdraw money from the system. You need to enter its number, expiration date and code located on the back of the card. An account is created automatically in the system. The transaction note will indicate a four-digit number that is the key to activating your PayPal account. Enter this code and activate your account. After this, the system will begin checking the card. In this case, a small amount of money ($1.95) will be blocked on the account. Once the cardholder confirms that the withdrawal was made with his or her knowledge, the card is considered confirmed and the funds are returned to the bank account.

You can now make payments. Subsequently, the client will have the opportunity to move to the next payment level in the system.

Using Paypal: Paying for Purchases and Receiving Payments

After selecting your purchases and receiving a page with a description of the product and payment methods, click the “Pay with PayPal” button. Enter the email address and password used in the system. Click on the “Login” button. Confirm the purchase and debit the funds from your bank account.

The most convenient thing about this system is that the interface is as client-oriented as possible; it is truly friendly. The simple design is intuitive; when registering, the required language is set, so there are no difficulties for a Russian-speaking user without knowledge of English. Setting up PayPal allows you to send money in just a few clicks.

Top up your PayPal account

Separately, you can transfer money to PayPal in the system. The system connects to the linked card and takes the required amount from it. To send money to another user of the system, you only need his identifier and email address. Please note the peculiarity of the system: Russian citizens can only send funds in rubles during mutual settlements; with other countries, payments will be in dollars or euros.

Money is transferred from the system to the card almost instantly. You do not need to register for a commercial account to transfer money within PayPal's monthly withdrawal limit. This is only necessary if you do not meet the limit and need a large turnover of funds.

PayPal Features: Security and Limits

The limit of funds installed in the system that can be used depends on the level of current verification of your account. When using an unverified account, you will be able to perform transactions in PayPal in the amount of up to 15 thousand rubles or its currency equivalent per day. The limit on the movement of funds on the account per month is 40 thousand rubles.

The system imposes such restrictions on users for security reasons. To expand the limit, you need to complete the account verification procedure.

The system offers two types of verification:

  1. Simplified verification. After passing it, the cash turnover limit increases per day to 60 thousand rubles, and per month – to 200 thousand rubles.
  2. Full verification significantly expands the user's capabilities. It becomes possible to transfer up to 550 thousand rubles in a one-time payment.

How to complete full account verification

To obtain the maximum possible financial freedom in the system, you must fully verify your identity. For complete identification, the PayPal user is required to provide the following relevant information:

  • full passport details;
  • Mobile phone number;
  • optional state registration number: TIN, insurance number of a personal bank account, compulsory health insurance policy number.

Paypal Service Fees

When transferring funds, the PayPal service deducts a commission from the client's account depending on the size of the transferred amount. To avoid misunderstandings, the full payment amount along with the commission must be clarified before the transaction.

Without a commission in PayPal, you can pay something in rubles within Russia or make a money transfer within the country if you use funds from your internal PayPal account for this. If the system takes funds for the transfer from a bank card, then a commission is charged in the amount of 3.4% of the transfer amount and an additional 10 rubles for each transaction.

When withdrawing funds abroad, you will be charged an additional fee. Depending on the country where you need to transfer money, the commission will range from 0.4 to 1.5%. The system allows you to select the payer of the commission; it can be paid not by the sender, but by the recipient of the money. Before any transaction, the system will prompt you to familiarize yourself with the current commission fees.

Additional guarantees of transaction security

To ensure the security of customer accounts and as part of the fight against fraudulent schemes, PayPal provides for payment blocking until the buyer confirms receipt of the goods. Only after this the seller is given access to the transferred funds. Most of the reviews available on PayPal confirm the need for this approach. If the buyer does not receive the goods or there are complaints about the goods, he can challenge the transaction within 45 days. The claim is being reviewed by PayPal staff.

Withdrawing money to PayPal

Today in Russia it is possible to withdraw money from the system to a bank card account. To do this, you need to select the “Withdraw funds” item in the menu; the system will show the card linked to your account. The operation will take from 5 to 7 days, a notification is sent to the client’s email.

GENERAL ISSUES

What is PayPal and what does this company do?

"What is PayPal?" - this is the first question that arises for anyone interested in this system, so we’ll start with it. PayPal is an American company that occupies a leading position in the global Internet payment market. It operates in 203 countries, operates in 25 currencies and has more than 230 million active users. It is characterized by simplicity and at the same time a very high level of security, which is especially important when conducting financial transactions. The literal translation of the name is “pay your friend” (pay – pay, pal – buddy) .

I have a bank payment card, why do I need PayPal?

There are many reasons. Let's name the main ones.

Firstly - convenience. Sending and crediting funds occurs instantly. In one click you can send money to the other side of the globe, because... PayPal is known and accepted everywhere, unlike other electronic payment systems (such as, for example, Webmoney, popular in Russia).

You can easily pay for goods at any of the regional branches of the ebay auction and in hundreds of other foreign online stores, including where certain difficulties may arise when paying directly with a payment card issued in the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, etc. . The fact is that many stores are especially attentive to orders from countries where there is a high level of fraud with payment cards, and may well either request copies of the card and passport or cancel the order. When paying via PayPal, you are guaranteed to avoid such “pleasures”. It is believed that the buyer's use of PayPal is already a significant guarantee of security.

In addition, you do not need to enter your bank card details and delivery address each time - just log in to your PayPal account when placing an order. At the same time, residents of the Russian Federation and the Baltic countries can receive funds to their PayPal accounts - both personal payments and payments for sales.

Secondly - safety. Have you ever been robbed? Do you know this feeling of anger and powerlessness? No matter how much effort banks, developers of security certificates, stores and payment systems make when working on the security of transactions, it is still impossible to say even with 50% confidence that attackers will not be able to steal bank card data at some stage and simply rob them owners. Even large, respectable trading platforms periodically report the theft of customer data. Do a news search!

And the easiest way to “lose” data is when paying in small, unfamiliar online stores. Yes, what can I say, sometimes cunning scammers deliberately create clones of pages of well-known stores or entire stores in order to extract data from inattentive customers.

In the case of payment via PayPal, payment card data is not transferred anywhere, and the service itself is, in fact, one of the most secure portals in the world. Huge amounts of money are spent on maintaining its safety and the best specialists in the world work. Therefore, when you pay for your order via PayPal, you can rest easy.

Thirdly, protecting the buyer from unscrupulous sellers. Defense tool - dispute , which is available to every PayPal client, helps in case of problems during the transaction at all its stages. It will allow you to return the money paid in full or in part if the product is not received or does not correspond to the description. Anyone who has encountered problems during a transaction will confirm how useful and necessary a tool it is in online trading. The main principle of the dispute is impartiality, and on its basis the work algorithm is prescribed. PayPal is very strict about compliance with its rules, so all sellers who accept funds from buyers through this payment system are very disciplined and resolve disputes with clients as soon as possible. For a seller, a ban on accepting funds through PayPal is a disaster.

Fourth - flexibility. If you live in a country where you can accept funds into your account balance, you can turn PayPal into a full-fledged financial gateway for conducting international business in the most secure and transparent environment.

I already use the payment system Webmoney, Yandex.Money, QIWI, etc. Why do I need PayPal?

Thousands of online stores around the world accept payments via PayPal. But little is known abroad about Russian electronic payment systems, and only a few trading platforms work with them, mainly in China.

Living in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan or another country of the former Soviet Union, can I use PayPal and to what extent?

You can determine whether the payment system works with a particular country and to what extent directly on the PayPal website. Countries it works with Paypal, are conditionally divided into two groups: the first is allowed to send and receive funds, as well as withdraw them to a bank account, the second group is only allowed to send funds from payment cards linked to the account.

Countries whose residents are allowed to send, receive and withdraw funds:

  • Russian Federation
  • Kazakhstan
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Estonia
  • Georgia
  • Moldova

Countries where PayPal only works for shipping:

  • Ukraine
  • Belarus
  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Turkmenistan
  • Tajikistan

As you can see, almost all countries of the former Union, with the exception of the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Moldova and the Baltic countries, belong to the second group. To quickly see if PayPal allows you to accept payments and create business accounts in your country, simply select your country and look at the top left corner of the site. If, in addition to the “Buy” and “Send” buttons, there are also “Sell” and “Business” buttons, then you can work in full.

Is the Russian interface available in PayPal and is there support in Russian?

A full Russian interface is available in PayPal. When you access the site from a Russian IP address, the system will automatically install the Russian language. If you are from another country, but want to use Russian, simply select the language by clicking on the corresponding checkbox. English can also be selected at any time from the drop-down list in the upper right corner of the authorized account page. Russian-language support service is available for accounts registered from Russia by calling 8-800-3332676 (Mon – Fri from 10:00 to 20:30 Moscow time) and through the feedback form via e-mail.

Some foreign online stores and sellers on ebay do not accept payment via PayPal. Why?

There are several reasons. Some sites, such as Amazon or Aliexpress, do not work with Paypal, because... the ebay company, to which this payment system is most directly related, is their direct competitor.

Many European stores and sellers on ebay do not work with Paypal due to the rather high commission that the system charges (5-7%). A bank transfer within the EU will cost much less, sending it is just as easy, and crediting the funds will take some hours.

I don't have a laptop, I want to work via a mobile phone or tablet. How can I do it?

It is enough to download the PayPal mobile application for Android or iOS mobile platforms from PlayMarket or AppleStore, enter your login and password for your account (or register a new one if you don’t have one) and use all the tools anywhere in the world where there is Internet.

Does Paypal transmit data about payments received by the user to the tax authorities?

If the turnover is significant, then data on payments received can be transmitted to the tax authorities. In any case, be prepared for this.

REGISTRATION

Which email account should I use for PayPal?

Absolutely anyone is suitable, but for security purposes it is better to create a separate mailbox specifically for working with payment systems - with a password that is different from other services. Give preference to the most secure email services such as Google Gmail, Microsoft LIVE, Yahoo Mail. The email address will require confirmation. You can get more detailed information on this issue in our article: Paypal. Registration .

Pay special attention to your email address when opening business accounts. It is the address of your mailbox that will be the ID in the PayPal system and clients will see it. Therefore, it would be optimal to include a trademark in the email “name” and use an email registered not in the free service, but in the domain zone of your website.

What type of PayPal account should I open? When registering, I was offered a choice of two account types: “Personal” and “Corporate”. Which one should you choose?

If you are an individual and are only going to buy and receive transfers from friends and relatives, choose " Private". If you want to use PayPal as a business tool, choose " Corporate" (you must be registered as a legal entity). A “Personal” account can always be changed to a “Corporate” account.

In what language should I enter my registration data?

Is registering with PayPal free?

Registration, opening and maintaining an account, and sending payments are completely free for any account type.

In what currency should I open an account?

PayPal offers a choice of working with 26 different currencies in which you can open an account. But due to the peculiarities of legislation in certain countries, opening an account is possible only in national currency. In relation to Russia, this rule applies partially - initially an account is opened in rubles and funds can only be withdrawn to ruble bank cards, but it is possible to add any of 25 account currencies. As a rule, users from the countries of the former Union open an account in either US dollars or euros. To reduce conversion losses, it is better to link cards denominated in the currency in which most transactions will be made.

My country is not on the list, i.e. they don't work with my country? Maybe I should indicate another country?

Yes, this means that PayPal does not work in your country. It is not worth registering using falsified data, because... Sooner rather than later, your account will be closed and the funds on your balance will be frozen. In this case, intermediary firms will help.

After registration, can I change my e-mail – account identifier?

Yes, it can be done.

I registered, entered the card details and was informed via SMS banking that an amount equivalent to $1 was blocked on the card, how do I understand this?

To authorize a card and check its validity, the system necessarily requests an amount of $1 and blocks it on the payment card. This is a normal procedure; funds will not be written off and will become available after some time.

During the card verification procedure, $1.95 was blocked on it, how can I get this money back?

I went through the registration process to the end, however, when I got into my account I saw that my balance was 0.00, although there was money on the card that I used during registration, is this normal?

Yes, this is a distinctive feature of accounts from which only sending funds is allowed. The balance will always be zero, and money is withdrawn from the card if necessary. If you are allowed to accept funds (for example, you live in the Russian Federation), then your account balance will include the funds debited from the card during verification - $1.95.

I'm under 18 years old, can I register with PayPal?

If you have a payment card suitable for online payments, then, of course, you can; no one will scrupulously check this point. But if controversial situations arise, when verification may require providing copies of identification documents, there is a risk of problems arising, since the rules prohibit the registration of minors. An alternative option is to register through parents or older relatives. Under no circumstances should you register a business account under the age of 18 if you intend to trade and accept payments.

I live in one country, but am a citizen of another. Which country should I choose when registering?

Be sure to choose the country that issued your passport, a copy of which you can provide if questions arise. If in the country of temporary residence there are documents equivalent to a permanent residence permit, and there is a bank account with cards, then you can easily register an account using the available data. Otherwise, such actions may be considered data falsification and you will simply lose the money remaining on the account that was blocked at some point.

This question is especially relevant when opening an account for accepting payments.

Can I open a second PayPal account in my name?

Yes, the user can open a second account in his own name - having two accounts (but no more!) is not against the rules. This is usually done when opening a business account. However, when opening, the following conditions must be met: another email address for registration, another payment card.

If your account was blocked for one reason or another, then opening a new one makes no sense, because... it will also be permanently blocked.

On the main page of my account there is information that my account is “Unverified”. What does it mean?

PAYMENT CARDS

Is it necessary to have a payment card to register and work with PayPal?

You can register without a card. But further work with the payment system depends on the country in which you live, since PayPal’s working conditions vary greatly depending on this point.

How to top up PayPal using a Russian bank card?

PayPal allows you to top up your balance only by bank transfer, direct transfer from friends, relatives, buyers, cashback services, and counterparties. And, naturally, the question of how to top up PayPal is relevant only for users from those countries where this opportunity is open.

Which payment card should I choose to use PayPal?

Can I use a payment card opened in Euros in a PayPal account opened in US dollars?

The payment system allows you to maintain a balance account in any of 25 currencies, including euros or dollars. PayPal or the card issuing bank (depending on your choice) will convert one currency to another. But do not forget that for them conversion is a source of income for the system and, if possible, try to avoid it. An option would be to link a multi-currency bank card to your account and pay from it in the invoice currency without bank or PayPal fees.

Can I use payment cards issued by Payoneer and ePayments when working with Paypal?

Yes, cards issued by ePayments and Payoneer services are suitable for work without any problems.

I found a company that sells so-called. "prepaid cards". Can I use this card?

We do not recommend that you do this - judging by the reviews, users of such cards have accumulated a lot of negative experience. Often, for using such a card, the payment system security service closed the user’s account once and for all. The main problem is that it is almost impossible to verify the identity of the owner of such a card and, taking advantage of this, such cards are often used by fraudsters. To work calmly and stably with PayPal, it makes sense to open a traditional payment card at a bank.

PayPal does not accept my payment card. What to do?

There could be many reasons for this. One of the most common is trivial: the card does not allow online payments. This problem can be solved by calling the bank's support service. Most other reasons and ways to overcome them are discussed in our article: If eBay, PayPal, online stores do not accept a payment card.

Why verify the entered payment card in PayPal?

Is it possible to use a payment card issued to another person (relative)?

This is completely out of the question. In this case, the account must be opened in the name of the person whose card will be used, and you must have access not only to this person’s documents, but also to his bank account (Internet banking).

PayPal sent me a reminder that my card is about to expire. What should I do?

Link another bank card to your account and verify it, or change the validity period of the old card - when the end of the card’s validity period approaches, many banks automatically re-issue a card with the same number, but with a new validity period.

SENDING PAYMENTS

In what currency should I send the payment?

In the one in which the invoice (bill) is issued. When sending payments within Russia, select rubles; when sending an international payment, select the currency of the payment recipient's country.

How quickly are payments processed?

Usually within a minute.

What do you need to know to send a payment?

You only need to know the account ID of the user to whom you want to send the payment. This identifier is the recipient's email address.

Is it possible to cancel a transaction?

Only at the initiative of the recipient, who can return the payment to you.

Is it possible to transfer with a protection code?

No, this option is not provided.

Do I need to top up my account balance to send payments? What methods of transferring funds are available in PayPal?

Depending on your country of residence and PayPal's operating conditions in that country. Typically, the payment system works as a gateway between your card linked to your account and the recipient. You can top up your balance in the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Moldova and other countries of the former Soviet Union, where residents of which PayPal allows you to accept payments, only by receiving payment from another user. Self-replenishment is not provided.

PayPal has several ways to transfer funds:

  • From the payment card attached to your account.
  • From your PayPal account balance.

In any case, the recipient's funds are credited to the account balance.

While sending a payment, I received a message that the recipient "Cannot accept payments."

This means that either he lives in a country whose residents cannot receive payments through PayPal (Ukraine, Belarus, etc.), or his account is blocked.

I heard that PayPal limits its users to some kind of limits?

There are several types of limits that are imposed on users according to various criteria (country of residence, type and status of account verification).

The limit is imposed on a single transaction - payment/withdrawal, account balance, all transactions within a month.

Limits are imposed on the volume of transactions with funds and directly depend on the status of the account - unverified, partially confirmed with bank card verification, and fully confirmed with bank card verification and sending a copy of the passport (verified).

For an unverified account, a limit of 60,000 rubles is set on the balance and any one-time transaction for the same amount; monthly turnover is set at 200,000 rubles or the equivalent in US dollars. For a fully verified account, all restrictions on monthly turnover are removed; the transaction amount increases to 550,000 rubles and the account balance limit increases to the same amount. For business accounts, if the balance account limit of RUB 550,000 is exceeded, funds will be automatically transferred to your bank account.

How do I remove transaction limits for my PayPal account?

On your account page, find the line “Check my account limits”, on the page that opens, find the “Increase limits” button and then proceed according to the proposed algorithm, i.e. add and confirm a bank card, confirm personal data by sending a scanned copy of your passport (TIN is not necessary). Review of an application to increase limits takes 5 days.

Why can't I choose a delivery address in a country other than the one specified during registration?

This is an immutable rule for account holders in some countries, which creates quite a lot of inconvenience: there can be many delivery addresses, but all of them must be located only in the country of registration of the user. If this restriction applies to you, the system will notify you upon payment.

The way out of this situation is to choose another payment method or seek help from an intermediary company.

The exception is payment on ebay: regardless of whether your account has a restriction on shipping an order to another country, you can pay for an order with any delivery address.

Why is my card charged more than the amount I send?

The reasons may be different and you will have to figure it out. First, pay attention to the currency of your card and the currency of the payment recipient: if they are different, the card issuing bank charges different fees: for each transaction, for transactions outside the country of issue of the card, for conversion, etc. Here we can add the point that PayPal itself converts the sent funds into the currency of the payment recipient, and the conversion commission is usually significantly higher than that of the bank. Secondly, this is the commission of the system itself. For example, transfers from an account to a PayPal account in Russia are free, and a transfer from an account in Russia to an account abroad will already cost from 0.4 to 1.5% of the transfer amount, using a card already 3.4% + 10 rubles.

The system converts sent funds at an extremely unfavorable rate - can I have my bank convert the payment rather than PayPal?

Yes, this opportunity is provided. To change the conversion center, you need to follow a simple algorithm of actions, which we outlined in the article: Converting funds when working with PayPal.

ACCEPTING PAYMENTS

I received a payment from a buyer, but I cannot handle funds. Why?

A payment “freeze” or hold is typical for all new PayPal accounts doing business online. This is due to a certain distrust of the system towards “newcomers”. Typically, "freezing" takes 21 days, even if the item has already been received by the buyer and a positive review/delivery confirmation has been issued. The “freeze” can be removed manually by contacting support, but not earlier than 3 days after receiving positive feedback/delivery confirmation. If the trading volume is large enough and the turnover grows over time, then the hold is removed during the first year of doing business. During long breaks in work, the hold is applied again. There is information that the hold is lifted after achieving 25 successful sales in the USA with confirmation of delivery using the tracking number from USPS.

I received a payment in US dollars, but my Russian PayPal account received rubles. Why?

It's all about the status of your account, which is not fully verified. If the status is "Unverified", all incoming payments in foreign currency will be automatically converted into rubles at the system rate. With full verification and establishment of maximum limits, it becomes possible to open a separate foreign currency account, receive and store money in foreign currency.

The seller wants to refund me the money for the goods I paid for, but says that funds cannot be transferred to a PayPal account opened in my country.

Yes, such a problem exists. Indeed, funds cannot be transferred to PayPal accounts opened by clients from many countries of the former Union (except for the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Georgia and the Baltic countries), since such accounts serve only as a payment instrument.

PayPal provides a “refund” service – refund of funds. If 180 days have not passed since the transaction, the seller can return either the entire amount paid (full refund) or part of it (partial refund). The money is returned directly to the card within 3-10 business days. You can amicably agree on a refund with the seller, but if he does not make contact, act within the framework of the PayPal Buyer Protection program and open a dispute.

I'm being asked to accept other people's funds into my account balance

In principle, this can be done, but only if you are sure that you know whose money it is and what it was transferred for. Otherwise, you may lose your account, because all responsibility falls on you.

WITHDRAWAL

I live in the Russian Federation, how can I withdraw funds received to my PayPal balance?

In Russia, PayPal allows you to withdraw funds from your account balance only to a current bank account in rubles (not to be confused with a card bank account). To withdraw, you need to open an account in any bank in the Russian Federation in your name or organization, find out the account details - account number and BIC. Next, we act in accordance with our instructions in the articles:

  • Adding a Russian bank account to your account.

Among other things, the funds received can be spent on purchases. But payment for goods can be made either from your account balance or from a card. If, for example, there are not enough funds on the balance, then the missing balance will not be withdrawn from the card, and the system will generate an error.

I live in Kazakhstan. How can I withdraw money from my PayPal account balance?

For account holders from this country, PayPal has two ways to withdraw funds "Withdrawal" - to an account in an American bank (for example, if you issue a Payoneer card, you will receive such an account) or directly to any Visa card linked to your account. The minimum withdrawal amount is 10 dollars, euros or 0.2 rubles. The withdrawal fee is fixed – $5.

RATES

How much do PayPal services cost?

Opening and maintaining an account is completely free. The system commission and size depend on many factors: whether the payment is personal or payment for a product/service, the country of account registration, account type and currency, whether the sender and recipient are in the same country, whether the funds being sent are withdrawn from the balance or from a linked card, etc. . The average commission is 3-5% of the amount.

When paying for goods, a commission is always taken from the seller. When sending a personal payment, you have the opportunity to choose who pays for the system’s services. More detailed information on this issue can be obtained from the link: Official tariffs in Russia

CONVERSION

What is double conversion?

A procedure where several automatic currency exchanges are made during a payment before the funds are credited to the buyer. Considering that with each exchange the amount “loses” by 4-5%, the results can be quite noticeable, especially when paying a large amount.

A classic example of double conversion: a payment card in euros is linked to a PayPal account, but the transaction is carried out in US dollars. The bank has been selected as the conversion center (to issue invoices in the seller’s currency). The bank cannot directly exchange euros for dollars and is obliged to use the national currency. Therefore, he first buys euros from you (first conversion), and then sells you dollars (second conversion). All this is done automatically.

Therefore, try to avoid such exchanges. To do this, buyers get cards in national currency, dollars, euros (or one multi-currency card). You will always have the right card at hand.

DISPUTES AND BUYER PROTECTION

What protection does PayPal provide to buyers? What is a dispute?

I paid for the product and received it in non-working condition. Opened a dispute, but the seller on ebay is blocked. Will I get my money back?

Yes, you will receive the full amount. If the seller is blocked or there are insufficient funds in his account, PayPal will bear the costs. The maximum declared amount of coverage is $2,500. If you receive a letter from ebay that the account of the seller with whom the transaction was made is blocked, then the dispute is automatically resolved in your favor.

I was denied payment, the dispute was decided not in my favor. What are your options?

You can appeal. To do this, just log into your account and select "Closed Cases" and press the button "Appeal." The case will be reviewed again, you may be required to provide copies of documents and even a statement to the police. It is advisable to provide some new data and materials, otherwise the appeal will most likely be decided not in your favor.

But even in this case, there is a way out - often clients were helped by a statement written to the bank that issued the card, stating that they had become a victim of fraudulent activities. This banking operation is called chargeback. The materials will be handled by the relevant department of the Visa or Mastercard payment system. You can usually apply for a chargejack at the same branch where you received your card. It is advisable to clarify this information with the bank’s support service.

Is the number of disputes opened somehow regulated?

No, the number of disputes is not regulated. But if this tool is abused, the account of such a user will be blocked. Therefore, use it only when truly necessary. Try to resolve issues that arise without resorting to opening a dispute.

SAFETY

What is Confirmed Shipping Address? Why do some sellers on ebay only want to ship to it? How can I get it?

"PayPal Confirmed Address" – the user’s physical address, verified and confirmed by PayPal. The address is verified using an algorithm that is not fully disclosed. Sometimes it is enough to add and verify a bank account, sometimes managers PayPal call the user at the specified phone number.

"Confirmed PayPal Address"is available only to residents of the USA, Canada and the UK. When shipping to a confirmed address, the Seller is protected by the PayPal Seller Protection Policy ( PayPal Seller Protection Policy), which allows you to compensate for losses on any transaction if the Seller has become a victim of fraudulent activities ( for example, the Buyer made an illegal return of funds to the card at the bank, etc.). Therefore, many Sellers make it a mandatory condition of the transaction that the Seller has a confirmed address.

It is worth noting that sellers rarely follow this rule and, if you have a good rating on ebay, they can easily send your purchases to the forwarder’s address. Often, even the address provided by your forwarder in the USA becomes "Confirmed" after several successful deliveries to it.

Can I log into my account from different computers?

Sure you can. Nobody limits this right. Another question is that the system closely monitors who, from where and from what devices accesses your account, monitoring potential fraudulent activities. Frequent authorizations from different devices (MAC addresses) and international IP addresses can lead to temporary blocking of access and the emergence of additional authorization conditions - up to sending copies of some documents or calls from PayPal support. You need to take this calmly and know that this is only for the benefit of the safety of your funds.

How can I find out any information about a PayPal user by his ID?

Can I give my PayPal account username and password to my relative who lives in another city? He wants to pay for his purchases.

If the account is registered to an individual, then it is better not to do this. IN companies will immediately determine that several people are using the account, and the second access can be determined as unauthorized. Such an account will be included in the “grey” list and will be blocked during regular logins from IP addresses in different cities, and the owner’s identity will be verified.

Business accounts have the ability for several people registered in the system to simultaneously access one account.

Can I exchange PayPal for Webmoney or vice versa?

According to the rules of the payment system, the exchange of funds for other electronic currencies (including Webmoney, Yandex.Money, etc.) or vice versa is prohibited. The accounts of users found to be violating this rule are permanently blocked. Therefore, do not be frivolous, because of a small violation you can lose your account.

My account is blocked forever, can I open a new one? What can be done?

No, in this case you shouldn’t even try, because... the newly opened PayPal account will also be blocked. This usually happens within a week. In this case, funds are frozen, and payments made may be cancelled. Therefore, in order to avoid unnecessary problems, it is strictly not recommended to open a new account in any form. It is also impossible to challenge the decision to close.

The only way out in this situation is to turn to one of your relatives for help: ask him to open a new PayPal account, enter his data, address, payment card. In this case, it is advisable not to use your computer to register and work with the newly created account.

Is it possible to close a PayPal account and immediately open a new one?

No. You cannot immediately close your Paypal account. You can only apply for closure. It will be reviewed, the account will be frozen for 180 days (the period of possible claims) and then it will be closed.

My ebay account is blocked, does this mean PayPal will be blocked too?

No, usually these two actions are not related. Although both accounts may be closed for serious violations.

My PayPal account was stolen, I can’t log in, what should I do?

You need to immediately block the payment cards that are added to your account and contact PayPal support.

I received an email from PayPal stating that access to my account is restricted. I looked in my account: in order to remove the limit, they ask me to send copies of documents. For what? Will scammers use my documents?

Of course, third parties will not use copies of your documents. The security service just wants to make sure that you are you, so it asks you to confirm the information entered during registration by sending copies of some documents. You can get more detailed information regarding this issue from our article: PayPal. If access to your account is limited (Limited Account Access)

I constantly receive letters to different addresses saying that my PayPal account is blocked and I need to change my password, although I can log in to the site without any problems - are they scammers?

Yes, such emails (usually on letterhead) are sent by scammers with one goal - to force the user to follow the link from the letter to the website, " very similar to the original site", and enter your username and password there, which will immediately fall into the hands of scammers. This fraud scheme is very common and similar letters are sent out in the hundreds of millions. The most popular targets among scammers for luring out data are users of the PayPal payment system, the ebay auction, and large Western banks (they steal your online banking password), etc. If you receive a letter like this on a letterhead, " very similar" to a branded one, then simply send it to Paypal at: [email protected]; if you received the same thing on ebay form, send it to: [email protected]. Good email services, such as Google Gmail, usually immediately send such phishing emails to Spam.

Also, when going to the PayPal website using links from an e-mail (which is generally not recommended), pay close attention to the address bar - the URL should start with HTTPS:// (not HTTP://), and clicking on the green certificate button should display a window indicating the type of encryption certificate, to whom it was issued, i.e. PayPal and by whom it was issued, as well as the validity period of the certificate.

PAYPAL AND EBAY

I buy on ebay and set up a PayPal account to pay for my purchases, are there any recommendations in this case?

The country of registration of your ebay account and Paypal must match. There are no other additional recommendations.

How to “link” a PayPal account to ebay?

After authorization on ebay, go to the section My eBay (My eBay), where after clicking on the tab Account(Account) you will see a column with links. Line PayPal account (PayPal Account) is what we need. Click on it and in the window that opens we find the button Connect PayPal account(Link PayPal account). After clicking on it, we will be asked to enter the login and password for your account PayPal. We enter the data, click “Ok” and now we can pay for purchases “in one click”.

Why does the seller write in the description of the lot on ebay that if I want to pay via Paypal, he will include the commission of this payment system in the invoice?

Indeed, some (especially European) private sellers impose similar conditions. And there's nothing you can do about them. eBay auctions, like PayPal, make the bulk of their profits from commission fees. So, a successful purchase for you also means the need to pay commissions for the seller, which in total range from 12 to 15% of the transaction amount. The fact that the Seller makes a demand to cover his expenses does not characterize him in a good light, but there is nothing illegal in these demands. If for a large retailer these are just operating costs, then for a small seller it is a significant minus in the balance sheet. In the end, you can always choose another payment method.

Why do some ebay stores and sellers only accept PayPal payments from US residents?

Yes, some popular stores and sellers do not accept payments from PayPal accounts registered outside the United States. When attempting to pay for an item, the buyer receives a corresponding notification.

This is an internal policy, incl. for security reasons. This information is usually indicated on the store's website or in the ebay store. Payment by bank card in such stores is usually also closed (theoretically, you can indicate the forwarder’s address in the Billing Address and Shipping Address fields, but no one guarantees that the order will not be cancelled) and you can only place an order through an intermediary.

Can I give the intermediary my ebay account details so that he can enter his PayPal ID and buy the item himself?

Yes, there are no special problems with this. The reseller will need to add another shipping address to your ebay profile and use their PayPal account to pay for your item. But if it is possible to avoid such a work scheme, it is better to do so, because... In any of the companies, such purchases may be viewed with suspicion and the account may be blocked for additional verification of the owner’s identity.

PayPal is the largest payment system in the world, with more than 179 million active users.

Since October 2012, it has been fully operational in Russia. With its help, you can pay for purchases in online stores in any country, since it operates with 25 types of international currencies. “Payment Buddy” (this is how the name of the service is literally translated) allows you to make any financial transactions quickly and most securely.

In order to transfer money to friends or pay for goods and services, you need to register. To do this, go to the official website of the service and click the special button (it is located in the upper right corner). After this, you will automatically be taken to the page for selecting the type of account: corporate or personal.

A personal account allows you to do the following:

  • transfer funds to your family and friends;
  • link a bank card to pay for online purchases;
  • put money into your account to pay for goods and services, transfer to friends;
  • withdraw money to a card or ruble bank deposit.

When registering, you will need to provide your email, create a password and fill out a form. Data entry is carried out in Russian. After filling out the required fields (full name, passport details, residential address, phone number, etc.), you must confirm that you have read the user agreement, and then click the “Agree and Create” button.

You can register, open and top up your account completely free of charge. With further use, you can always change its status from personal to corporate. Creating a wallet, regardless of type, is possible only in state currency. But as you use the system, you can add other types of currency.

After registration is completed, you can link a credit card to your e-wallet, indicating only the bank card number, its expiration date and the CVV2/CVC2 code (the last three digits on the back of the “plastic”). After linking, you will be able to top up your wallet directly from the card or, conversely, withdraw money from it and transfer it to a credit card. You can also top up your account in cash through Svyaznoy and Euroset stores.

How to start using PayPal?

The first action that needs to be taken in order to start using the payment service is to confirm your email address. Only then will the account be considered created, and the user will be able to send and receive money transfers, including without a credit card. To do this, you need to log in by clicking the link in the upper right corner of the screen. On the page that opens you will find a link to confirm your email. After clicking on it, the system will automatically send a letter to the address specified during registration.

To complete the verification procedure, you must re-enter the password you used to create your account. After this, instead of a link to your email confirmation, a green circle with a checkmark inside will appear. Now you can move on to full use.

But before you start using the service, you should find out the available limits. They are installed for all types of accounts. Thus, for account owners with unconfirmed data, the monthly limit is 200 thousand rubles. The amount includes any financial transactions, be it withdrawal or deposit of money, payment for purchases online. One-time transactions should not exceed the total amount of 60 thousand rubles. This means that without confirmed data you will not be able to buy a Macbook Pro 15’’ in the online store worth over 150 thousand rubles or receive a transfer for a similar amount.

To increase the amount of financial transactions, you must confirm your personal data. To do this you need to do the following:

  • log in to the service;
  • click the “Check your account limits” link at the bottom of the page;
  • On the page that opens, click the “Increase limits” button.

You will be offered several confirmation options to choose from. To remove account restrictions, you must complete all of them.

One way to confirm your passport data is to send a scanned copy of it (pages 2, 3 and 5). To confirm your card details, follow these steps:

  • enter exact data (number, expiration date, security code);
  • Click the “Add card” button.

Then in the data confirmation window, opposite the “Confirm bank card” line, click the “Start” button. Your account will be charged $1.95. Let's consider further actions using the example of a Sberbank card. After debiting the funds, you need to visit Sberbank-online, click the “Account Statement” link and find the required operation.

Next to the operation you will see a verification code (4 digits) like 2016CODE. Log in to your payment system account and enter it in the appropriate line. Upon completion of the verification, the blocked funds will be returned to the account automatically. If necessary, card information can be deleted or changed.

Where and how can I pay for purchases?

Today you can pay for purchases in tens of thousands of online stores around the world, including eBay, Ozon, etc. Many payment system partners provide special discounts to account holders, and numerous promotions are held for PayPal users. You can find out about current offers by visiting the “Shopping Center” on the system’s website.

This section provides a complete list of sellers who accept payment via PayPal. However, there are a number of stores that are not ready to accept funds in this way. It is impossible to make purchases using this service on Aliexpress and Amazon. But this is understandable, because PayPal and the direct competitor of these trading platforms - eBay - were previously part of the same group of companies. But, starting at the end of 2014, eBay decided to spin off the PayPal system into an independent structure.

Paying for purchases through the system is extremely simple. You need to take a few simple steps:

  • visit the desired online store;
  • add your favorite products to the cart;
  • proceed to checkout by clicking a special button or selecting from the list of available payment options.

After selecting payment via PayPal, a window will automatically open to enter the email address to which the wallet was registered and its password. If you did not have your own account before payment, you can create one directly during the ordering process.

After entering the required data, the direct payment page will appear. At the same time, a bank card does not have to be linked to your account. You can specify its details at the order confirmation stage.

The further procedure for placing an order is standard: you will need to indicate the address, delivery method and other necessary information. Payment for purchases is always free for visitors to Russian online stores. But when paying for goods abroad, the system may withhold a conversion fee equal to 4% above the wholesale currency exchange rate (if the seller refuses to pay it).

Owners of currency debit and credit cards should first disable conversion. Otherwise, the system will send a request to transfer funds in national currency (even if the invoice is issued in dollars or euros), and the bank will transfer the required amount at the internal rate.

Secure payment for purchases via PayPal

An important advantage of using this payment service is the presence of a Buyer Protection Program. You can contact the Help Desk for a variety of reasons:

  • the product does not correspond to the stated description;
  • presence of defects, damage, signs of wear of the goods;
  • non-delivery of goods to the buyer;
  • mismatch in size, style, color, etc.

In all of the above situations, the Support Service will help return funds to the buyer’s account and reimburse the costs of delivery and return shipment of unsuitable products. The Program partially applies even to the purchase of electronic tickets and documents.

To initiate the refund process, you must complete a number of steps:

  • open a dispute 7 or more days from the date of purchase by contacting the Problem Resolution Center;
  • contact the seller for an amicable settlement;
  • close the dispute by mutual agreement;
  • convert an open dispute into a claim if the seller’s response is unsatisfactory.

It is noteworthy that the Center operates around the clock. Its employees will review the application and make a decision, after which the money for the goods can be transferred to the buyer’s account. Another advantage of using the service is the secrecy of personal data (account or credit card details). To confirm payment, you only need an email address and login password.

How to transfer funds from an account?

You can create a PayPal account to make secure and fast money transfers. To transfer funds to friends and family, you only need to make a couple of clicks. Simply log into your personal account and click “Pay or send funds” at the top of the screen.

After clicking, a window will open with two more links, one of which is to proceed to sending funds from the account.

You can send a money transfer to absolutely any recipient in Russia who has his own email address. It is not at all necessary that the recipient has his own account. He will be able to register it after receiving a message about the transfer of money in his name.

You can transfer money not only from your account, but also from linked cards. But in this case, the service charges a commission equal to 3.4% of the amount + 10 rubles. When transferring funds in non-state currency (US dollars, euros), an additional commission is charged on the conditions described earlier.

How and where to cash out?

In order to cash out the balance in your account, you need to log into your personal account and click on the “Withdraw funds” link. If you have not linked a bank account to your account, you will be prompted to do so and go through an account verification process. Two small amounts will be sent to the specified account (crediting occurs within 3 – 7 days). You will need to find out their size and indicate it in special fields when you click on the withdrawal link again. After the verification is completed, you can freely withdraw money to your bank account, not forgetting about the established limits. Withdrawing money to a bank account or linked credit card takes approximately 3 to 5 days.

There are other withdrawal methods:

  • to Qiwi wallet;
  • on Yandex.Money;
  • on Webmoney.

You can use them through one of the online exchangers - sites that offer money transfer services between two services (for example, PayPal and Qiwi) for a certain commission. Its size sometimes reaches 10 - 12%, so before using it it is important to find out the operating conditions of the exchange office.

Withdrawal of funds is available not only in our country, but also in Belarus and Kazakhstan. Residents of CIS countries such as Ukraine, Armenia, etc. will also have to link a card and bank account to their account, go through a similar verification procedure and receive their money directly to their MasterCard or Visa card. In this case, you can receive funds using a bank terminal (ATM).

The dynamically developing Internet network and e-commerce tools have brought a rather new concept into our lives - electronic money. For another 10 years, few people could believe that it would be possible to buy something on the Internet and at the same time pay with virtual currency. But now electronic money has become a part of our lives. Yandex Money, Qiwi, Web Money - the name of these payment services no longer comes as a surprise to many network users. Annual turnover amounts to hundreds of millions of dollars, and this figure is growing inexorably.

Shopping in online stores is convenient, profitable, and fast. I think that no one will argue with this thesis. But domestic online stores are not always able to satisfy the needs of customers, and then we have to look towards trading platforms in the USA and Europe. And here one problem arises - how to pay for the goods? A few of them work with Russian payment systems, but most prefer PayPal. Just today we will talk about what PayPal is, where this payment system came from, and why PayPal is so popular in Europe, the USA, and throughout the world.

PayPal - getting to know the new payment system

PayPal (translated from English as “a friend who helps you pay”) is currently the largest and most famous electronic payment operator in the world. Hundreds of millions of people make online purchases using PayPal every day. But where did it all start?

The company was founded in March 2000 by a group of students, among whom was an immigrant from the USSR, Max Levchin. From the first months of operation, PayPal began to service auctions held on eBay. In less than a few months, PayPal was already working with a million auctions, offering people to pay for services through their payment system. Such rapid growth could not be ignored, and in 2002 an agreement was signed according to which eBay inc. bought the rights to PayPal, and since then more than 50% of all eBay auctions are paid using PayPal.

In 2013, it was possible to use the services of the payment system in 198 countries around the world. At the same time, the company operates in 29 national currencies of different countries. Not long ago, the number of registered PayPal users exceeded 200 million people. The incredible pace of development of this payment system forced many competitors to close their companies and leave the market. PayPal is the undoubted leader in the world of online payments, and this leader is coming to us.

Quite recently, PayPal came to Russia, and many Russian sellers and buyers who prefer foreign online stores and auctions were able to legally withdraw and deposit money into their PayPal account. Previously, everything was done through third parties, who asked for a large commission for cashing out. But now these “troubled” times are a thing of the past.

Due to the fact that PayPal opened its representative office in Russia, there was a need to study the payment system in more detail, understand its advantages over others, and understand the opportunities that open up through the use of PayPal.

PayPal: reasons for popularity and rapid development

Undoubtedly, PayPal has a number of advantages, thanks to which 200 million users around the world use this payment system. Among them are:

  • Globality

The most important advantage of PayPal is its global nature. Wherever you are, with only access to the Internet, you can pay for goods in an online store from the USA or China in a matter of seconds. PayPal provides a wide range of opportunities for its users, and regularly introduces new products to its service and functionality.

  • Convenience and speed

Speed and ease of use is another PayPal trump card. All your data is already in the system, and you do not need to enter your full name, account numbers, and confirmation codes each time. Everything is done as simply and quickly as possible, so that the buyer can pay for the goods without bothering with the payment system.

  • Safety

Security comes third on the list of PayPal benefits, but this does not mean at all that it is third in importance. The company devotes the most time to security issues, because everyone understands that clients trust PayPal with hundreds of millions of dollars, and if even once a major leak occurs, then the authority will be undermined once and for all. Who wants to use a payment system that can steal your money?

We can say that the company's management is obsessed with security, and is constantly introducing more and more new mechanisms to protect personal data. Some users complain that there are a lot of protection methods, and they interfere with quickly working and making purchases. But it’s better for a person to endure 20 seconds of inconvenience than to lose everything that is on electronic wallets.

PayPal also acts as an arbiter and resolves controversial financial issues that arise among users of the system. If a person proves that he was deceived and he paid via PayPal, but did not receive the goods or agreed services, then the company will return the amount spent from the fraudster’s account. If there is no money in the account, PayPal will compensate everything at its own expense.

  • PayPal and eBay

The fourth advantage of the PayPal payment system is that about 90% of all auctions are paid through it. This is not surprising, because the most popular auction in the world was bought by PayPal back in 2002, tying all payments to it.

Recently, the popularity of eBay, which has a presence in 30 countries, has been growing, and the number of PayPal users has been increasing accordingly. The payment system is expanding into new countries every day and conquering large markets. PayPal recently started operating in Russia, but faced great competition from Yandex Money, and especially Web Money.

  • Official status

Although PayPal does not position itself as a bank, it has all the attributes of a financial institution. In the US, PayPal is regulated by the Banking Act. It is this factor that distinguishes PayPal from other payment systems that are not related to real money, and this limits their functionality when working with foreign online stores. What does it mean? With PayPal, you have real dollars (or the currency of your country) in your account, and in other payment systems, your wallets contain title units that can be converted into currency. But the signs themselves are not currency, they are just a number that has no value.

PayPal offers a powerful, comprehensive financial instrument where all transactions are carried out with real, “live” money. You “link” a payment card (or several), a bank account, to your PayPal account, you can automatically top up your PayPal balance or withdraw money at any time, and even if you sell something, you can accept payments from customers directly from their payment cards (they do not need to have a PayPal account) and much, much more. By the way, PayPal works closely with fiscal authorities, transmitting to them information about payments received by the user.

  • Innovation

Everything that you are used to using in domestic payment systems was borrowed from abroad. PayPal is an innovator in the world of online payments, and all the newest and most convenient features are developed by this company.

PayPal pioneered the mobile payments revolution by offering its users instant payments using their mobile phones. With this service you can pay anywhere and always with only a mobile phone in your hands. This technology has already been adopted by several large banks in Russia and Ukraine.

PayPal payment system: how to use?

There is a small minus here. In each country, PayPal offers a different set of services and features available to registered users. Residents of the USA have the widest opportunities, because it is there that all new products and innovations are tested before being released to the rest of the world. A lot of functionality is available to residents of Europe, Australia and China. Unfortunately, the set of functions for users from post-Soviet countries is minimal, or very close to it.

This is due, first of all, to the fact that goods from stores in the USA and Europe are not so widely in demand here. Plus, the electronic payments market has been dominated for many years by other giants, which PayPal will have a hard time ousting from the RuNet.

How much does it cost to usePayPal?

Opening and using an account is absolutely free. There is also no charge for sending money. However, it is worth noting that the bank where the account is opened can take a small percentage. As a rule, this is a commission for converting and sending currency. PayPal services are paid by the one who receives the funds (unlike Web Money, where the one who sends the money pays).

We cannot give the exact amount of commissions, because it varies based on many factors: account type, amount, geographical location of the recipient and sender, etc. You can find out more about the commission percentage on the official PayPal website.

Which to choosee-mail forPayPal

When registering with PayPal, you need to provide an email address. We advise you not to use free services that provide the opportunity to register a mailbox. First of all, this is related to safety. If you want to be as confident as possible that your money will remain safe and sound, then set up an email account on Gmail or other reliable services.

PayPal account- international service for transferring and receiving payments.

Today the system operates in 203 countries with 26 currencies. You can view the entire list on the official website and see your country in the registration drop-down menu. Today it has more than 180 million users. Officially operating in Belarus since June 2014, in Russia - since 2005.

Official site Paypal- https://www.paypal.com.

Russian-language interface for Russians, for Belarusians - at the moment there is only an English version and I hope that this will be fixed soon, for Ukrainians - several languages, but no Ukrainian and Russian.

PayPal can be purchased or withdrawn to WebMoney, Yandex Money, PerfectMoney, Advcash, Bitcoin and others through an electronic currency exchanger: Kurs-expert or bestchange.com.

Please note that for different countries there are restrictions on functionality, some of which are quite significant.

For example, for countries - Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan:

  • Allowed - sending payments, linking a bank card, paying for goods,
  • It is prohibited to accept payments, as well as withdraw to any bank account.

For clients from Russia, the list of services provided is longer:

  • Allowed - sending and receiving payments, linking a bank card, as well as withdrawal to a bank account in the USA and a local bank (became possible after receiving the appropriate license from the Central Bank), using Russian rubles for transactions and paying for purchases.

A little from the history of development. The beginning of its activities dates back to 2000, one of the founders of the company is a native of Ukraine. Initially they were engaged in servicing electronic trading. Soon (in 2002) there was a merger with ebay. As a result, more than half of paid purchases began to be made through PayPal, which seriously crippled competitors.

In 2015 eBay Inc. group divided and each side included in it began to work autonomously.

PayPal account features:

  • The most important thing for most users is the ability to make purchases online in most online stores that use this payment solution and pay for them using a bank card or account linked to your account. It does not matter what currency the card is in, since a conversion operation will be performed. The commission is paid by the seller himself,
  • For those who run a business - connect accepting payments from clients to your website,
  • Make money transfers to any person, knowing only his email address.

By paying for purchases using a Paypal account, you don't have to worry about the safety of your personal and financial data. Bank card details will never be known to the payment recipient, since the service does not send them. This allows you to pay for goods on a variety of sites, of which there are thousands, and not worry that your data will be stolen by scammers. In a word, PayPal means high reliability and customer protection.

If you do not receive the goods or their quality is poor, you can open a dispute within 180 days and then file a claim with the seller. Within 20 days, the system will make its decision on it.

If you see the company's logo on the website of an online store (usually located at the bottom), it means they accept them and you can pay for purchases. You will need to enter your email address and account password.

Paypal account registration

Registration with Paypal is completely free and without any commissions. Carefully monitor your browser status bar to avoid ending up on a fake scam site. The real official website of Paypal is https://www.paypal.com.

Pay attention to emails that come from the company. PayPal always addresses you by your first and last name only. Also, they do not contain links to redirect to other sites requiring you to enter any personal information.

At the first stage, you will need to select which PayPal account you need (Personal or Premier):

  • Personal, if you use it for personal purposes,
  • Or corporate - for accepting payments from clients (only for individual entrepreneurs and legal entities).

Please note, there can only be one. In most cases, we choose a Personal PayPal account. In the future, if the need arises, it can be upgraded to corporate by carrying out a number of procedures from the profile - you need to click on the gear and select Upgrade, and then enter the data of your organization. But it will be impossible to return to the original status.

We select a country that cannot be changed, enter an email address that is valid only for one account, and come up with a password. If you want to have several accounts, they must have different e-mails.

The password can be changed in the future by going to the PayPal website and going to the Login menu and selecting the appropriate item. You can change your email address by going to your profile settings.

A PayPal registration form will appear, where we enter personal data and your address. Since not all online stores support Unicode and to avoid difficulties when receiving goods, I filled out the form using translit, I advise you to use the translit.net service. Be sure to provide only real data.

In the future, the email address needs to be confirmed, which is done in your personal account. Click on the Update button next to the email line and the message will be sent. Go to your email and follow the link and enter your account password. The icon will change its color and become green, like in my picture.

As you can see, there is nothing complicated.

If you need to close and delete your account in the future, make sure that there are no remaining funds on your PayPal account or any restrictions on the part of the company. Once deleted, you will no longer be able to restore it and all operations will be erased. To do this, go to the website, click on the gear at the top, select the Account parameters section and at the bottom there will be a line Close account. Also, if necessary, we change the address, email, phone number here.

If you are interested in the question - where and what is the PayPal account number and how to find it, then know that the company does not assign numbers to identify the client, as other payment systems do. The email address that you specified in your profile is the identifier that is required for payments and transfers.

As with any payment system, verification is necessary for security purposes and protection against fraud, and allows you to reliably verify that the client is the owner of the PayPal account. After completing it, the status changes to Verified. To receive it, we confirm your email address, link your bank card, and upload copies of your identity documents.

Attention. We disable and change the currency conversion at an inflated rate, and install it from the bank that issued our card. We carry out simple steps to set up the exchange from your personal account on the official PayPal website. I think everything is clear in the picture:

Linking a card to a PayPal account

For security purposes and to avoid fraud, you need to link your card to PayPal and confirm it. In this case, a certain small amount is blocked and in the statement of transactions you can see the confirmation code, entering which in the appropriate field on the site will verify that you are the owner of this bank card.

For this procedure, the amount is blocked in the amount of $1.95 or, like mine, 1.5 euros. The statement can be viewed in Internet banking or asked to be provided at the bank. For me it looked like PP7425CODE>*****>LU, which means the security code is 4 digits - 7425. Make sure that the specified amount was present on the card account, otherwise the request will be rejected.

The amount is not written off or disappears, it will return back to the card within a few days, usually no more than 5 days, but there are exceptions - you have to wait a month, depending on who the issuing bank is.

You will be immediately prompted to link it when registering with PayPal, but this operation can be postponed and done later by logging into your account and clicking on the Account button (Wallet) and selecting Add a card (Link a card).

You need a debit or credit bank card - Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Maestro. Since it is officially registered, any cards from issuing banks of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation must be linked. If this does not work, check whether the operation function abroad and on the Internet is enabled. Or contact your bank branch.

Remember, each account must have its own card and you cannot link it to another account.
I added a Belarusbank Visa Classic card, everything went without problems.

To do this, select the type, enter its twelve-digit number, expiration date and CSC (security) code, which you can look at on the back of the card and consists of three digits.

Paypal conclusion

Only clients from Russia can withdraw money to a bank account. For Belarus and Ukraine there is no such possibility at the moment. Once a withdrawal request has been made, there is no way to cancel this action.

First you need to link your bank account to your profile and confirm it.

  • Go to your account and click on Account at the top.
  • The Add Bank Account button will appear.
  • We enter information about the personal bank account in Russian.

After this, the system will send two small amounts to him, about 1 ruble. These exact amounts must be indicated to confirm account ownership.

Follow the withdrawal limits, which can be viewed in your account. The minimum amount for transfer in foreign currency is 10 US dollars. There are no restrictions in rubles. The money sent is credited within 2-7 days.

Paypal commissions

PayPal charges a commission for the following transactions:

  1. For receiving payment for goods,
  2. Money transfer using a linked bank card,
  3. When receiving an international payment,
  4. When performing transactions where one currency is converted into another.

When transferring to another person, no commission is paid if the transaction occurs from the internal account of the Paypal service. If it is carried out using an added card, then the commission will be from 2.9% to 3.9% plus another 10 rubles. This commission is paid by the sender.

There is no commission to receive, provided you are in the same country as the sender. If you receive a payment from other countries, the company will charge a commission. If the sending currency is different from the invoice currency, it will be converted and you will also have to pay for it.

The company does not impose additional fees for:

  • Purchasing goods in online stores,
  • When withdrawing money from your account to a bank account.

Information about the amounts that were withheld can be found by logging into your account and clicking Transaction History at the top in the PayPal Fees section.
