Fly easy phone. Review of GSM phone Fly Ezzy. For advanced grandparents. Battery and battery life

Good weekend everyone!!!

I believe that in our turbulent times you cannot go outside without a mobile phone! Especially children and elderly people! Well, to all other categories of the population as well - you never know!

My mother, husband and I have been using mobile phones for a long time (like most people). But the only opponent of mobile communications in the family was our dad! No matter how much we tried to persuade him to carry his phone with him - no way! Now his health began to fail, and in the end he gave up.

But he immediately warned that he was not going to make a lot of calls and in general he didn’t need any bells and whistles, but he needed large letters and numbers, because his eyesight was poor. That's what they decided on.

This means that the most suitable telephone in this case is a grandmother’s phone. This is what people affectionately call the combination of low price, large letters and ease of handling.

We went to the nearest Euroset - despite all the wealth of choice, there were only 3 phones with large numbers: one did not suit us because it was too wide, the other was too long. And only the third outwardly answered all the requests. And they bought it...

Model FLY EZZY 5

*Price – 1290 rubles

*Telephone for 2 SIM cards

*Classic body, made of metallic plastic

*Color screen – 1.77 inches

*Polyphonic melodies, vibration, FM radio

*Battery capacity – 800 mAh. The charge holds well. Standby time is about 180-200 hours, talk time is stated to be 7. But we are not yet ripe for such long conversations! ))

*Supports microSD up to 8 gigs, but it must be purchased separately.

And without it, you cannot change the wallpaper on the display. They are alone there - a terrible fist!

And it is impossible to remove it! No gallery! There is nothing to choose from. You need to upload images and melodies to the card if you want to change them. But for this you need to have a map. There is a choice of melodies, but very limited.

Because of the fist, the date and time are difficult to see.

*There is no camera, but there is an SOS button on the back panel. When pressed, the device turns on the siren so that everyone can hear that the person needs help. For an elderly person, I think this function is very useful.

*Surprisingly (for such a model), but the device has Bluetooth!!! True, you still can’t use it unless you have a microSD on your phone where the transferred files will be saved.

Grandmothers may not need Bluetooth, but those who set up phones for grandmothers definitely need it. And then such a pig was planted - there is nowhere to transfer the files! At least it’s trivial to change the background on the display to a plain and darker one, and put on a more decent melody...

*The instructions are also extremely sparse! This is not an ordinary book, but an “accordion” from one piece of paper! If you need more detailed instructions, they are available on the Internet for free.

There is also a flashlight - a thing that is not at all useless!

A charger and headphones are also included.

The biggest drawback is that it is impossible to make a call in the usual way - by pressing the green handset!!!

Another drawback is that there is no joystick. It's uncomfortable without him. Menu items are also controlled by pressing the green and red tubes alternately.

So, we find the contact we need, press the green handset, but instead of starting a call, the device displays another menu, in the items of which you must first select “CALL”. He is not even the first point there, but the third!!! And only then press the green tube again!!!

It is also inconvenient to unlock the keyboard - first you need to press the green handset, then *

My much more sophisticated phone has a button on the side that unlocks it with one click, but here they’ve tricked it out for grandmas! EZZY 5 also has a side button, but it turns on the flashlight!

Among the advantages I can mention really huge numbers and large letters.

Nowadays, push-button mobile phones, which are very popular among the older generation, are becoming less and less common and produced. Well-known brands practically do not produce such gadgets, focusing on touchscreen models. One of these mobile phones was Fly Ezzy 7 - a mobile phone, reviews of which mark it as a convenient and popular gadget. The phone belongs to the budget category: it can be purchased in stores for 1500-2000 rubles.

Options and packaging

The phone is delivered in a white branded box along with a charger with a microUSB connector, operating instructions, a warranty card and a headset connected via a microUSB connector. The gadget's package is basic and contains everything you need. The charger connects to a standard connector, which is especially noted in reviews of the Fly Ezzy 7 cell phone, since if the charger breaks down, you can find a similar one.

Housing materials and design

The phone is made in a candy bar case and has compact dimensions: 117 x 56 x 14.4 millimeters and weighs 82 grams. The body itself, like the decorative elements, is made of plastic. Reviews of the Fly Ezzy 7 Black phone note the ergonomics of the case: the gadget fits comfortably in the hand, does not slip out, the button coating is indelible with large font. The build quality is high, even with long-term use the parts do not creak or cracks appear. The phone is available in classic colors - black and white.

The front panel of the gadget houses a display, speaker and control keys.

On the left side you can see the keyboard lock key and a special hole for attaching a tag, rope or any accessory.

At the top end there is a flashlight, at the bottom there is a microphone and a standard microUSB connector for connecting a headset, charging a mobile phone or synchronizing with a personal computer.

Separately, reviews of the Fly Ezzy 7 phone note the large SOS shortcut key located on the rear panel, coupled with the main speaker.

The functionality of the phone allows you to simultaneously use two SIM cards with their alternating operating mode. You can transfer data between the SIM card and the internal memory of the phone.

Keyboard

The phone's keys are located close to each other and at the same level, which, however, does not in any way affect the ease of working with the gadget. Reviews of the Fly Ezzy 7 Black note that the buttons are quite large - 16 x 11.5 mm. This solution is very convenient for older people. The keyboard is completely plastic, there is a slight play in the keys, but this does not affect the usability. The button labels are placed horizontally, which is pleasing to the eye and comfortable. All the inscriptions are white, making them easy to read on the black buttons, which is convenient for people with poor eyesight: this feature of the phone is noted in reviews of the Fly Ezzy 7.

The keyboard is illuminated with a bright orange light: the central column of buttons is best illuminated, the side ones are slightly less illuminated. Despite this unevenness, all the characters on the keys are easy to read.

Display

The phone screen is small: 1.77 inches with a resolution of 160 x 128 pixels. TN display with 16-bit color depth and 116 ppi per inch. There are five screen brightness adjustment modes available. The font is easy to read and large. Viewing angles are small, the screen itself has a lot of glare, which is noted by users in reviews of the Fly Ezzy 7 as a disadvantage.

Phone battery

Fly Ezzy 7 is equipped with a 1000 mAh lithium-ion battery. The manufacturer assures that the battery power is enough for 200 hours of standby time and 4 hours of talk time. In reviews of the Fly Ezzy 7, phone owners note that in Moscow networks, on a single charge the gadget worked for 4 days with daily calls lasting 15-20 minutes, 2 hours of listening to the built-in radio and 20 minutes of using third-party functions.

The result for a mobile phone is very good, especially considering the fact that the main target audience will use the gadget in a very gentle mode, which will allow it to work on a single charge for one week.

The battery is charged by connecting the phone to a special adapter or to a personal computer via the microUSB port. Versatility in charging capabilities is an undoubted advantage of the phone and is appreciated by the owners of Fly Ezzy 7 in reviews. The battery is fully charged in 2.5 hours.

Software

The phone is equipped with a single-core MediaTek MT6261M processor. Clock frequency - 260 MHz. Built-in memory - 24 megabytes, RAM - 32 megabytes. You can expand the memory by installing a memory card up to 16 gigabytes, which allows you to use the phone as a flash drive.

The gadget has the Nucleus operating system installed. The phone turns on in a few seconds, works quite quickly, switching between options in the menu is carried out without delay.

Radio, player, sound

Fly Ezzy 7 is equipped with a compact speaker, the power of which is sufficient for comfortable listening to music and loud calls. The built-in audio player supports MP3, AAC, AMR, and a voice recorder function is available. The kit comes with a standard headset with a microUSB connector. You cannot connect peripheral audio devices to the phone due to the lack of a 3.5 mm audio jack. The built-in radio operates at a frequency of 87.5-108 MHz. Both the main speaker and the headset can be used to operate the radio. On the right side of the phone there is a button for quickly turning on the radio.

Memory and communication

The lack of the phone's own memory is compensated by a slot for microSD memory cards hidden under the battery. Supports Fly Ezzy 7 memory cards up to 16 GB. The presence or absence of a memory card in the phone can only be found out through the file manager or after disassembling the gadget, since no information is displayed on the screen.

A controversial point is connecting the phone to a personal computer: the gadget is not displayed as a removable disk and is not detected by Windows OS, and accordingly, drivers are not selected for it.

Ability to work with two SIM cards

Despite the fact that the Fly Ezzy phone was developed for the older generation, the manufacturer supported the idea of equipping the gadget with two working SIM cards. For several recent phone models, the company has implemented support for two SIM cards with one radio module, respectively, both of them can work simultaneously only in standby mode. Under the battery there are slots for both SIM cards, access to them is free. Depending on the selected slot, the cards are displayed in the phone as SIM1 and SIM2.

The numbers 1 and 2 on the phone screen indicate two signal reception scales. For cards, the information in the phone menu is clearly demarcated, making it impossible to get confused. SIM cards can be disabled either together or separately.

Finally

For older people or those who prefer classic push-button phones, the Fly Ezzy 7 gadget will become a real helper. The cell phone is easy to use, equipped with a bright screen with large font and large keys. Even the most novice user can understand the simplified menu.

Additional functions are very convenient and useful for everyday use: flashlight, SOS speed dial button and radio. Fly Ezzy 7 is worth the money and, despite the fact that it belongs to the category of budget gadgets, it may be of interest to consumers who prefer inexpensive, high-quality, simple and easy-to-use phones.

Positioning

The Russian market for grandmother's phones cannot be called very saturated, but since 2009, models aimed at the older generation from various manufacturers periodically appear on sale. But until 2009, this niche in our market was completely free, unlike the European market, where similar phones from the Austrian company Emporia were sold for several years. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, Emporia never entered the Russian market, although it planned to take this step.

In 2009, two companies entered our market with grandmother phones almost simultaneously - Samsung with the 3060R model and Voxtel with its RX500 device. The models of these companies became the first signs on the domestic market of grandmother's phones; they did not compete with each other, as they were completely different. Thus, Samsung offered a fairly functional model with a color display; it differed from other devices of the company only in large keys and large font in the menu. Voxtel took a different route and presented a model similar to Emporia products, a device with a monochrome display, large keys and a number of other details that make it easier for older people to use the phone.

A little later, the CP09 babushkaphone appears on the market, which is sold under the MegaFon operator brand, and later the same model appears at the Beeline operator. The device is a “classic” grandmother’s phone with a monochrome screen, large keys and other useful and not so useful functions.

A little later, the Just5 brand appeared on the Russian market with the same model that was sold to operators - CP09, but after a while the company replenished the line of its grandmother phones with the CP10 model. Soon the company should start selling another phone for the elderly, this is a model with the simple name CP11.

After devices under the Just5 brand appeared on the market, other small manufacturers also moved into the niche of grandmother phones, for example, the TeXet company introduced the TM-B100 model, and ONEXT introduced the Care-Phone 1 phone. All these phones offer relatively the same functionality, but differ only design and price.

The latest brand to enter the grandmother phone market at the moment is the Fly Ezzy phone. If you don’t read the specifications, it may seem that the device from Fly does not offer anything new, and in appearance it is generally an exact copy of the Just5 CP10, but this is not so. The Fly Ezzy phone is the most functionally advanced device in the niche of granny phones and offers something that no other similar model has to date.

Design, dimensions, control elements

Externally, the Fly Ezzy phone is an exact copy of the Just5 CP10 phone, and there is no need to be surprised here, it’s just that Fly tried to reduce the final cost of the product as much as possible, which is why the “catalog” design was chosen. If the company decided to release the device in a unique case, this would significantly affect the price of the Ezzy. The appearance of the device is pleasant, the body shape has smooth lines. The device fits well in the hand, there is no discomfort from the first seconds of communicating with it. The dimensions of the device are relatively small (107x50x15 mm, weight 70 grams) for this class of device.

The body is entirely made of average quality plastic, the surface is smooth, but not at all easily soiled, and it is also resistant to scuffs and scratches. The thin silver frame on the front panel is a little confusing; perhaps over time the paint will begin to peel off, but these are just assumptions. The device is offered in a single black color scheme. The assembly of the case is mostly flawless; there are only complaints about the controls, but more on that below.

On the left side surface there is a large double volume control key, which is convenient to work with blindly; a little lower is the on/off slider for the built-in FM radio. There are two sliders on the right side surface, the top one is responsible for the built-in flashlight, and the bottom one is for blocking the device. The sliders have an unclear movement, that is, the positions are not fixed, but as I was assured by the Fly representative, this problem has already been fixed, and in the second batch of devices the sliders will have clear fixed positions.

There is a flashlight at the top end of the device; it is average in brightness, but quite suitable for emergency needs. It's nice that the flashlight can work even when the phone is turned off. As they wrote to me on Twitter, “This is because the phone is built into the flashlight!”

At the bottom end there is a 2.5 mm audio jack, a standard microUSB connector, as well as a connector for a charger, similar to that of Nokia phones (thin plug).

Comparison with Voxtel RX500:

On the back wall of the device there is an external speaker for playing a call signal and other sounds, as well as a large “SOS” slider, by sliding which you will activate a siren, a very unpleasant loud sound, and an SMS will be sent to four pre-selected numbers. The slider is a little loose, but, according to company representatives, this defect has also been eliminated in the second batch of phones.

Most of the back wall is occupied by the battery compartment cover; it is attached securely, there is no play, although it can be removed quite easily.

Keyboard

All the keys in the device are located at the same level, close to each other and are not separated by anything, but despite this, this does not affect the ease of operation, since the buttons are very large (16x11.5 mm), and it is enough to miss or accidentally press both keys difficult. The keyboard is made of plastic, the keys have a slight play, but this is not scary and does not affect the ease of use. It’s nice that Fly put the symbols on the keys in a standard way, namely in a horizontal plane, and not like Just5, where the symbols are printed in a vertical column. All symbols are white, on black keys they are easy to read, in addition, they are large in size, which makes them easier to read for people with impaired vision.

The backlighting of the keys is bright orange, it is distributed unevenly, the central column of buttons is better illuminated, while the side ones are a little worse. But, despite the unevenness of the backlight, the characters on the keys are easy to read.

Display

The device has a small (36x23 mm) black and white display with a resolution of 128x64 pixels with a bright orange backlight. The screen displays a maximum of two lines of text and one more line with service information. The text and all the characters on the screen are large enough that no one should have difficulty reading them. In the sun, information from the display can be read without any problems.

Battery

The phone has a 1000 mAh lithium-ion battery. According to the manufacturer, with this battery the device can operate up to 200 hours in standby mode and up to 4 hours in talk mode. In the networks of Moscow operators, the phone worked on average for 4 days with 15-20 minutes of calls per day, about 2 hours of listening to the radio and up to 20 minutes of using other functions. The result is quite good, taking into account the fact that the target audience of the device will use it in a more relaxed mode, the phone can easily work for a full week on one charge. The phone's battery can be charged either using a wall charger that connects to a dedicated connector, or via a microUSB connector by connecting the device to a PC, or using a wall charger with the required plug. This versatility in charging the device is a definite plus. The battery full charge time is about 2.5 hours.

Communications, memory

The device does not have its own memory, but under the battery there is a slot for microSD memory cards; cards up to 8 GB are supported. By the way, when a memory card is installed in the phone, no information about it is displayed on the screen; you can find out whether the card is installed or not only through the file manager, or by disassembling the device.

When connected to a PC, the phone should, in theory, be recognized as a removable disk, without installing additional drivers, but in my case, a computer running Windows 7 could not detect the device and find drivers for it. To be honest, I haven’t been able to figure out what the reason might be here.

Working with two SIM cards

Yes Yes! Although Fly Ezzy is a grandmother's phone, the company decided not to deviate from the chosen course and even equipped this device with support for two SIM cards. Traditionally, the company's latest models support two cards with one radio module, which means the cards can operate simultaneously only in standby mode. Two slots for SIM cards are located under the battery; access to them is free. The cards are equivalent and are displayed in the phone as SIM1 and SIM2 depending on the selected slot.

On the main screen of the phone, two reception scales are displayed, which are designated by numbers 1 and 2. In the device menu for cards, there is a clear division of information, so it is impossible to get confused here. It is possible to disable one of the cards or turn off both.

Menu

Perhaps we should start with navigating the menu; it is not so simple, since for these purposes a two-position navigation key, buttons for starting and ending a conversation, as well as the * and # keys are used. For those who have previously used a device with a classic four-way navigation key, navigating the Fly Ezzy, especially at first, may seem difficult. But, on the other hand, this is not a device that requires frequent navigation through the menu, so you can easily put up with the not very convenient controls.

Another difficulty awaits users in the phone menu, since the layout of the sections in it is absolutely illogical, which, of course, complicates the work. For example, it is worth mentioning that such sections as “Player”, “Calculator” and “File Manager”, for unknown reasons, ended up in the “Settings” section, which is very, very strange.

The localization of the device is performed at a good level. The device has predictive text typing eZi (analogous to T9) for Russian and English.

On the main screen of the device, in addition to two reception scales, a battery status scale is also displayed, as well as the date and time. There are no service icons for, for example, incoming messages or missed calls; this information is displayed once (until canceled or read by the user) on the entire screen.

The main menu is page-by-page; the screen displays the icon of the selected item and an explanatory text for it. The submenu is also page-by-page, but there are no graphics here, only text.

In standby mode, pressing the navigation key up takes you to the main menu of the device, down - to the phone book, and pressing the call key opens the call log.

Phone book. A simple phone book designed for 100 contacts; for each subscriber you can write down a name (up to 30 characters) and one phone number. You can also set your own ringtone for a contact and place it in one of 5 groups. Search in the phone book is carried out by the first letters of the name. The device also has a speed dial function for up to 10 numbers. Contacts can be moved from SIM cards to the phone’s memory and vice versa; the list can display either all contacts, or only from a selected location (one of the cards or the device’s memory).

Messages. The device does not have its own memory for messages; they are all stored on SIM cards. The phone supports stitched messages; for outgoing SMS the maximum number of characters is 612. There is multi-distribution of messages; you can add either numbers or contacts from the phone book to the list. The phone has 10 templates that the user can change at their discretion. Delivery confirmation is implemented as a separate message.

Call Center. Here you can view lists of incoming, outgoing and missed calls separately for each card. The maximum number of stored calls for each list cannot exceed 10. Calls from identical numbers are combined, their number is indicated in parentheses next to them, and detailed information displays the date and time only for the last call.

In the same section, you can make settings for call forwarding, call waiting/holding, and call barring for any of the cards.

Settings. All the basic settings of the device are collected here, for example, settings for SIM cards, calls, security, time and others. There are also profiles here, of which there are 5 in the phone, and each can be configured by the user. You can set one of the preset melodies or your own composition in MP3 format as a ringtone, but there is a limit of 5 custom melodies. The ringtone can be set to ring only, vibration only, ring and vibration, vibration then ring. The only inconvenient point associated with profiles is that you can only switch between them through the menu.

This section also includes a simple calculator, as well as an alarm clock. There are two alarm clocks in the device, they are independent, for each you can set the time, single or daily activation, as well as the type of signal.

My files. This simple file manager is also included in the “Settings” section, through which you can view all the information that is on the memory card. Here you can create and rename files, and in the case of musical compositions, listen to them immediately or set them as a ringtone.

Audio player Also, by misunderstanding, I ended up in the settings section. The phone has a very simple player that allows you to create a playlist either automatically (sees only your own folders) or manually (you can select any folder with music). The device displays Russian file names without any problems; there are no problems with playing songs with different bitrates. There is no rewind within the composition, as well as the ability to operate the player in the background. In the player settings, you can enable random playback of songs, as well as repeat.
