Screenshot of the entire web page. How to take a screenshot on a computer while scrolling a page. Online tools for taking screenshots

Capturing, that is, a snapshot of an image on a monitor screen is called a screenshot. Read the lesson about taking a screenshot using standard Windows OS tools: Windows Scissors.

Today, to view most web pages and interact with them, we scroll - we scroll the contents of the window with the mouse wheel. We'll look at how to take a screenshot of such a long web page in this lesson.

A primitive and labor-intensive method is to generate a series of screenshots to fit the screen size with sequential manual scrolling of the page. As a result, the coherent content of the page is divided into a certain number of pictures, which have yet to be combined in some graphics editor. Therefore, to create a complete screenshot of a long web page, we use specialized tools.

The free online service Web Screenshots works stably and quickly creates a screenshot of a long web page. We go to the address: https://goo.gl/sZpCF5 to this resource, paste the URL of the captured page into the request field and click the “screenshot” button:

After some time, depending on the length of the page, the capture is made and the screenshot appears in the active service window. By right-clicking anywhere in the resulting image, open the context menu and save the screenshot to the selected directory:

Having saved a screenshot of a web page in a png file, we view it with scrolling, for example, in standard Paint.

The service is also noteworthy snapito.com. Here we copy the address of the page to be captured into the search field and click the “Snap” button. The settings allow you to start capturing with a time delay and select the screenshot size:

The completed screenshot appears on the same page of the service. By right-clicking anywhere in the image, open the context menu and using the “Save image as...” command, save the screenshot to the selected directory. Saving is only possible in jpg format.

Another way to capture online is to install an additional tool in your browser. One such extension for the Google Chrome browser is FireShot. Find and add it to the browser from the Chrome online store:

After installation, the FireShot plugin icon appears in the upper right corner of the browser window, clicking on it opens the add-on functions menu:

In the free version of the extension, screenshots can be saved to files in the following formats: png, jpg, pdf.

A similar free plugin for the Opera browser on Windows is Capture Webpage Screenshot - FireShot.

And in Firefox, the function of creating a scrolling screenshot is already built into the browser. To activate it, use the combination Ctrl+Shift+I to open the “Developer Tools” panel and use the F1 key to go to the “Options” section. On the left side of the panel, in the “Additional tool buttons” subsection " activate the function "Take a screenshot of the entire page":

After this, a camera icon appears in the “Developer Tools” panel, by clicking on which you can take a full screenshot of the current web page:

By opening the download log in the browser, we will find the saved screenshot file:

In addition to online services and plugins for various browsers, many desktop applications have been developed to capture scrolling web pages.

FastStone Capture is a popular multifunctional program for taking screenshots and recording screen actions. The free trial period is 30 days. Convenient, with a laconic interface, easy to learn program:

Having captured the page, the program opens it in the editor, where the screen can be viewed, supplemented with inscriptions, watermarks, pictures and saved in the desired format (bmp, gif, jpg, pcx, png, tga, tif, pdf).

Thus, after comparing tools for capturing a long web page, we select the best option for ourselves.

We've released a new book, Social Media Content Marketing: How to Get Inside Your Followers' Heads and Make Them Fall in Love with Your Brand.

Sometimes there is a need to upload the appearance of a website page into a graphic file. An exact snapshot of a web page also has other names: webshot, thumbshot, screenshot. It is worth noting that rarely does a website fit on the screen without scrolling down. If we use the Printscreen key or add-ons like Joxi or LightShot, we get the opportunity to “remove” the visible part of the screen without scrolling.

In this case, the bottom of the page is “cut off”.

Is it possible to take a screenshot of the entire page of an online website so that it fits entirely into the screenshot? Let's figure it out.

There are online services on the Internet that help solve this issue. No additional software or browser extensions are required. The services make a thumbnail of the web page that you can save.

The operating principle of each service is as follows: the user copies the URL of the desired Internet page, pastes it into a special field, configures the parameters and starts processing. As a result, the service issues a link to the received image, which is stored for some time on the server. The user can download it to his PC. Let's consider several online services.

Snapito

Using the “gear” button you select settings (size, image storage period, etc.), and the Snap button starts processing. You can also save the screenshot as PDF. The result of the service is a link to the resulting image.

Web Capture

Works in Russian. The image can be converted to any of the proposed formats. Enter the URL, select a format, click Generate.

You can then download the snapshot as a ZIP or expanded file.

IMGonline

Allows you to receive a webshot in JPG or PNG formats. Enter the web page address, configure the settings, and click OK.

Then open the resulting webshot or download it.

S-shot

It works on the same principle.

Another option for the web service to work is to create a screen by copying the link circled in a red rectangle in our example, replacing the site address from the example with your URL.

Screenshot machine

Another free option.

After receiving the photo, click Download and save the thumbnail to your PC.

ScreenPage

Mozilla Firefox

In the Mozilla Internet browser, you can create and save webshots as a standard tool. Press Ctrl + Shift + I at the same time. A toolbar will appear. On the right side, click on the gear. Select the available buttons and activate “Take a screenshot of the entire page.” A camera icon will appear in the browser. You need to open the desired web page, click on the photo icon and enter the download folder, where the screen has already been automatically recorded.

Browser extensions

These are Joxi, Qsnap, Lightshot and others. The corresponding software is installed on the computer. Then, holding down the CTRL button and scrolling the mouse wheel, we reduce the page until it completely fits on the screen. Click the button corresponding to each plugin. For example, for Joxi it is a bird in the upper right corner of the browser.

Select the required area of the screen for the screenshot, take a photo and download the result.

How to make a quick screenshot

Is it possible to take screenshots without installing different programs and without going to third-party websites? What if you don't have internet?

Having reduced the web page to the optimal size, you need to press the РrtScrn key (top right on the keyboard) or Shift + РrtScrn. The page will be copied to the clipboard. Then you need to open any graphic editor, create a new file and select the “Insert” function.

What about phones?

Modern gadgets are the same computers, only slightly smaller. They can also take screenshots. To create a snapshot, key combinations are used that correspond to each model and type of operating system.

  • iOS - hold down the "Power" and "Home" buttons. The webshot will be saved in the "Photos" folder.
  • Android 1, 2 - a special application is installed that allows you to take webshots.
  • Android 3.2 - hold down the “Recent Programs” button for a while.
  • Android 4 - press “Volume Down” and “Power” at the same time.
  • Samsung for Android and HTC for Android - Hold “Home” and “Power” at the same time.

A screenshot of a full web page can be made in different ways. Moreover, many plugins allow you to process the resulting image - insert text, select blocks, draw arrows and other geometric shapes. Good luck

It would seem that a screenshot of the screen - what could be simpler? But what if you need to save not only the part visible on the monitor, but the full page of the site, scrolling to the very bottom? Or take a picture of a page from Word, but the page just doesn’t fit on the monitor screen? And even more so if there are several of these pages. For example, some important agreement. What to do then? There is no way to get by with standard ones! This is what we will talk about now.

I'll start the article with a short introduction for novice users. About, Which methods are best to use for taking screenshots: online or offline?. If you have already decided on this issue, then you can immediately move on to ready-made solutions. The article describes several working options. There are very good ones, and also those that are simply not worth wasting time on.

I periodically check the quality of work of each resource.

Offline programs:

Online services:

When you need a screenshot of an entire page, which method should you choose: online or offline?

Let me just give the pros and cons of these and other methods, and it will be easier for you to choose what to use when creating a screenshot in principle.

Online services for creating a screenshot of an entire website page

Pros:

  • No additional software installation required.
  • Services are available from any device.

Minuses:

  • Online services may not be available due to technical reasons. For their technical reasons, as a rule. I've encountered this several times.
  • Poor quality of the final work result. This is explained by the fact that most of the services are either shareware or poorly supported by their developers.
  • Applicable only to website pages. For example, it is no longer possible to take a screenshot of a multi-page Word document.

Offline programs for creating a screenshot of a full page

Pros:

  • You can take not only a screenshot of a website page, but also a screenshot of any long page or multi-page document. This applies to documents Word-like text editors, spreadsheets like Excel, PDF-files.
  • Built-in editing capabilities of the resulting image.
  • Data security control. Confidentiality is maintained when scanning documents. You do not upload the document to a third-party service.
  • Supports a large number of formats for saving the resulting file.

Minuses:

  • The need to install additional software.

Screenshot of the entire website page in the program FastStone

Program FastStone Capture(Windows only) which I will tell you about is distributed under the following conditions: You can freely use (test) the program for a 30-day continuous period after downloading (installing) it. After 30 days, you must either purchase a license to use the program on the developer’s website, or immediately delete it. Information about the terms of use is available on the website at http://www.faststone.org/order.htmand

FastStone MaxView are shareware. You may try the software free for 30 days. Once this 30-day period has expired, you must either purchase a license to use it, or uninstall it from your computer promptly.

To install, download the program FastStone Capture can be found on the official website: http://www.faststone.org/FSCapturerDownload.htm

Open FastStone by double clicking on the shortcut or from the list of installed programs. In this case, a small program menu will appear on your desktop screen. Here it is enlarged. You can drag the menu to any part of the screen. It will be displayed on top of any windows until you force close it by clicking on the cross at the top right.

To take a screenshot of a full web page, click the “Scrolling Window Capture” icon in the menu.

The program will automatically “highlight” the intended scanning area and prompt you to select a scrolling option. This window will appear in the lower right corner of the selected area.

Select “Autoscroll” and the program will do everything itself right before your eyes. After scanning the entire site page, the created screenshot will automatically open in the program editor.

The editor is small but convenient. It offers cropping, resizing and some effects: watermark, frame, torn edge of the picture, color change, and some effects.

I made a short video in which I took a screenshot of one of the pages of this site, an article. And here is a link to the picture itself, which turned out in the end: sample of the resulting screenshot.

It is not for nothing that they say that it is better to see once than to hear a hundred times.

Screenshot of the entire website page in the program PicPick

PicPick is located at: http://ngwin.com/picpick. Completely free, at least for non-commercial (home) use. Downloading and installing the program is very simple. You can do it without difficulty.

  • Open PicPick, or if the program is currently open, click "File" in the top left corner of the main menu.

  • From the list of suggested tasks, select Scrolling Window.

A small screen capture menu will appear in front of you, it looks like this. The "Capture Scrolling Window" button has already been pressed, no need to press it again.

  • Now, click with the mouse on the area that needs to be scanned, for example, on the website page of which you want to take a screenshot (anywhere on the page). The area will be highlighted with a frame, and the words “Autoscroll” will appear in the upper left corner of this frame.
  • Click on this inscription. The program itself will take care of everything. She will lazily scroll to the very end of the page. As a result, you will receive a full screenshot of the site page.

You can crop the resulting image directly in PicPick. Also see on our website.

PicPick is an excellent workhorse for taking a screenshot of a full website page. Multifunctional screen capture, clear image editor menu, color selection, color palette, adding text, arrows, shapes, pixel ruler, protractor, shadows, frames, watermarks, mosaic, blur, brightness adjustment, zoom and much more.

Minuses:

  • For Word, Excel, PDF documents, the program takes a screenshot of only the visible part of the screen.

Pros:

  • The built-in editor is quite multifunctional. It deserves a separate article, but in this one you will have to limit yourself to a few screenshots of the working menu. I would also like to note the possibility of applying watermark in the screenshot, and the process can be automated.
  • Automatic scanning of a full website page.
  • Several formats are available for saving a screenshot: PNG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, PDF. True, the program, although it saves files in PDF format, does not know how to open them in it. So, if you use it as an editor, then for PDF images you will first need to convert them to JPEG.

Result:

  • I recommend.

As a short presentation, I propose to evaluate the program’s working menu in general terms. Of course, many of the buttons on this menu hide submenu lists. To tell in detail, you will have to write a real operating manual. But this is a topic for another article.

Here is another interesting option that can be useful when scanning a website page or document containing small fragments. This is a “magnifying glass” in the shape of an ellipse, a circle, with the help of which small details can easily be made large right on the screenshot.

Service S-shot.ru

Located at: https://www.s-shot.ru/

Don't forget to check the "full size" checkbox. When it is checked, scanning is done from the entire page; when unchecked, only from the part that is visible on the monitor. The service interface looks like this:

Minuses:

  • Quantitative restrictions on free use. Up to 100 pictures per day and up to 1000 per month (from one IP address).

Pros:

Result:

  • Quite a working option.

Online service Snapito

Located at: https://snapito.com/

A good solution when you need to quickly make a copy of a website page and save it in JPEG format. The service also claims to convert to PDF, but several attempts I made to save the image in this format were unsuccessful. I had to do some additional image processing. It is also impossible to take a screenshot of a Word or Excel document using this service “without intermediaries.” That is, in principle, this is possible if you place a Word file on the Internet, upload its contents to Google Docs, configure access rights to the resulting page (I did full access), and then paste the link to this page into the appropriate input field on the Snapito website .com. But why such difficulties when the offline program described above can do everything easily and simply.

Minuses:

  • Takes a screenshot in JPG format only.

Pros:

  • High-quality work without scanning failures.
  • Adjusting the size of the future screenshot before scanning.

Result:

  • Quite a working option.

Screenshotmachine service

Located at: https://www.screenshotmachine.com/index.php

Despite the promised “full length screenshot”, no full length could be achieved from this service. Registration on the site also did not lead to anything.

Minuses:

  • Takes a screenshot of only the visible part of the screen! Doesn't make a copy of the entire page. And this despite the declared functionality and the presence of a paid version! This error in operation was recorded on May 28, 2018. Perhaps the situation will change, but today I’m giving it a minus. As of March 21, 2019, the situation is no better.
  • Supports PNG format only.

Pros:

  • Simulates the appearance of a website page on a tablet and mobile. But, taking into account the fact that most modern sites have a mobile version and look completely different in it than on a desktop, this plus is very doubtful.

Result:

  • I don't recommend it. The service in spirit is quite consistent with that slob-robot who, with a stupid look, scattered all the copies on the main page of the site.

IMGonline service

Located at: www.imgonline.com.ua

Minuses:

  • Does not scan all images from a website page. Despite the fact that there is a “disable pictures” option in the settings, it simply does not work. Whether it is turned on or not, at best, there will be one or two pictures on the copy of the page, instead of the rest of the images there will be just a space.

Pros:

  • Takes a screenshot in PNG, JPG formats.
  • It is possible to manipulate (I wouldn't call it settings) the size of the future screenshot before scanning.

Result:

  • I don't recommend it.

Screenpage service

Located at: http://screenpage.ru/

Minuses:

  • Takes a screenshot in PNG format only.
  • Requests your email.
  • Does not scan all images from a website page. In the best case, there will be one or two pictures on the copy of the page, instead of the rest of the images there will be just a space. This error is systematic.

Pros:

Result:

  • I don't recommend it.

Conclusion

As I promised at the very beginning, I provided you with very good, working solutions: the program FastStone Capture program PicPick, Services S-shot And Snapito. I hope that I helped you understand the issue and choose a tool to your liking.

Of course, within the scope of this article it is impossible to physically talk about all the methods and tools that allow you to take screenshots. I tried to talk about those that are easy and convenient to use, and those that are not very suitable to be considered a good tool. For what? First of all, so that you do not waste time searching. Perhaps it would have been worth including the Screenpresso program in the review. But... The fact is that the program has a free version and a paid one. It wouldn't be so bad if these were two different programs. In fact, all this is one program, only part of the functionality in it is available exclusively for money. You start clicking on the buttons, everything you need seems to work, and at the very end, instead of the saved result, you receive information that this particular action is only possible in the paid version. Perhaps the program is not bad, but I didn’t like the approach to the user. So I didn't test it. Here is the link to the site if anyone is interested: https://www.screenpresso.com/

What screenshotters do you use? Why are they interesting, what features do they have?

Sometimes, while working at a computer, we need to “photograph” some event occurring on our monitor screen. For example, some program generated an error, or some kind of notification, which is impossible to deal with on your own, but you need to solve this problem. This is where the ability to “photograph” what you see on the monitor comes in handy—to take a so-called “screenshot” of the visible area of the monitor, or “screen” for short. To do this, you need to press the “Print Screen” key (sometimes the name on it is written in abbreviated form, for example, “PrtScrn”), usually it is located either to the right of the F12 key, or just below. You can see its location in the pictures below.

The image will be placed on the clipboard, and to notify the program developers (or technical support) about the error, you can paste it into an email or other document (for example, MS Word, Excel or PowerPoint) and send it to them so that they figured out why this or that error occurred and gave recommendations for eliminating it. If you want to save a screenshot to your computer, then you need to open any graphic editor (the simplest one is built into Windows Paint), paste it there (either through the “Edit” - “Paste” menu, or with a simple key combination “Ctrl” + “ V" in the English keyboard layout) and save it in any convenient place on your computer or on removable storage media.

If you need to take a screenshot of not everything that is happening on the monitor, but only a separate window of a folder or program, then you need to make this window active, and then press the “Alt” + “Print Screen” key combination on your keyboard.

In general, screenshots are needed in cases where it is easier to show or send a screenshot of what is happening on the screen to your interlocutor than to explain it for a long time or manually retype it into the text of the letter.

But what if you need a screenshot of a page that vertically does not fit into the monitor size? For example, you need to save as an image a long page that is five to six vertical lengths of your monitor, according to your vertical scroll bar.

There are several ways to do this.

1. The simplest method, which does not require installing any programs, and at the same time the most time-consuming and not very high-quality method, is to take several screenshots one after another, each time scrolling the page one screen down, and simultaneously insert the resulting images one after another, for example, in Word or Excel. The disadvantage of this method is that it takes a long time, the resulting image is not whole, and the need to adjust the edges of the previous and next images to each other. You can use this method only in cases where you are in a hurry and you do not care about the quality of the final result. In this case, you will not get a whole, unified image.

2. Using online services for creating screenshots of any website pages. For example, let's try to get a screenshot of one of the pages of my website “Computer Smarter”, on which I talk about increasing the text size (opens in a new window):

On my work monitor, this page takes up four vertical screen sizes. There is a wonderful online service that easily copes with the task, resulting in full screenshots of long pages. I suggest you familiarize yourself with it and use it in the future if you like it.

By following the link above, you are taken to a simple page on which you need to indicate the address of the site page from which we want to receive a full-size screenshot. We copy it from the address bar of the browser (or directly from this article) and point to our test page on this site: https://site/sovetyi/kak-uvelichit-razmer-teksta.

Click the “Capture Screenshot” button and wait for the site to generate the image (progress will reach 100%). This usually takes from a few seconds to a couple of minutes, depending on the vertical length of the page.

Click on the “Download Image” button, and the automatic downloading of the screenshot of the resulting page begins.

We open the resulting image and make sure that the service worked perfectly, a screenshot of a long page was received and saved as a picture for further work.

Of course, there are a fairly large number of online services that allow you to do the same thing as Web Screenshots, but some of them are quite difficult to learn, some require registration in order to get the necessary image, so I recommend you what I use myself.

3. If you use the Google Chrome browser, then the task is simplified. In this case, you need to find and install an extension for Google Chrome called Awesome Screenshot. To do this, just enter the following line “Awesome Screenshot for Google Chrome” into the search query of Google or Yandex search engines (you can copy it directly from here), and follow the first links of the search results to go to the site for installing extensions for this browser.

Yandex:

Google:

After going to the extension installation site, click the “+ Free” button and install it in your browser:

Confirm the installation of the extension by clicking on the “Add” button:

As a result, an icon of the installed extension will appear at the top of your Google Chrome browser:

Let's look at the main features of this extension. Click on this icon and open its menu:

Briefly about the main points of this menu:

  • Capture visible part of page— take a screenshot of a part of the page visible on the screen
  • Capture selected area— take a screenshot of the selected area (a very convenient option). After clicking on this option, you can select any area on the monitor screen with the mouse and get an image of this area.

However, for our initial purposes (taking a screenshot of a long page), we need to go to the desired page on the Internet and select the menu item “ Capture entire page"("take a screenshot of an entire page").

The extension itself will scroll the page all the way down and redirect you to a new page where you can edit the screenshot you took, or you can simply click the “Done” button at the top

Our screenshot is ready, all that remains is to select further actions with it on the right:

  • Save— save the picture in a graphic file format;
  • Copy— copy it to the clipboard;
  • Print— send the picture to the printer for printing.

We will save it as a picture, so select “Save”

We indicate the location on your computer where to save the received file, and finish working with the extension.

I hope you found this article helpful. If you have any questions about the operation of the methods specified in the article, ask in the comments.

Let's screenshot the entire page

I just talked about it in the previous article and realized that we also needed a screenshot that would take a snapshot of the entire site page (including what is visible only when scrolling). I didn’t even think that the topic of screenshots would be enough for 2 articles

Suitable add-on for Chrome based browsers (Yandex.Browser, Google Chrome...) again found here https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions?hl=ru. This time it’s Nimbus Screenshot and Screencast - in general, it turned out to be a very sophisticated thing, it even shoots video.

Taking a screenshot of an entire website page using the Nimbus Screenshot and Screencast extension

Download

You can download and install. After installation, an icon for this add-on will appear at the top right:

Nimbus screenshot icon

How to use

To take a full screenshot of a web page, you need to click on the icon of this add-on and select from the menu that appears "Screenshot of the entire page":

Taking a screenshot of the entire page

After this, the contents of the browser window will scroll from bottom to top and you will be transferred to the editor, where you can make inscriptions on the picture, draw lines, etc. Super-powerful editor:

Screenshot editor in Nimbus Screenshot and Screencast

After finishing editing, click “Done” and then the picture can be saved to a certain Nimbus Note, in, on your PC or printed.

With this add-on you can take a screenshot not only of the browser contents, but of the entire window. And also record a video (select “Record video”). I was surprised, but the video is actually recorded, and quite well.

You can also edit any pictures or draw something - to do this, you must first install this, and then select “Blank Slate” in the extension menu:
