Review of the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier smart watch. Smartwatch Samsung Gear S3

In September, at IFA 2016, Samsung presented two versions of its new smartwatches: Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 Classic. We have already talked in the news about their key innovations compared to the previous version. Now that the watch has officially gone on sale in Russia, it’s time for detailed testing.

It is worth saying that this time Samsung decided to make the Classic and Frontier versions very close in almost all respects. The models have the same set of technical characteristics and differ, in fact, only in the presence of e-SIM. In addition, the Frontier version is claimed to be more protected: it is impact-resistant and resistant to high and low temperatures. It was the Frontier version that came to our test.

Packaging and equipment

The Gear S3 Frontier comes in a medium-sized black plastic box, shaped like a cylinder.

The watch in the box lies sideways and is magnetized to the docking station.

Under the plastic circle there is an additional silicone strap, a charger with a Micro-USB output (5 V 0.7 A), a small warranty booklet and a quick user manual in English.

Samsung traditionally puts a different size strap in the box along with the watch. Unfortunately, with the third generation of its smartwatches, the South Korean company decided not to have an additional main-size strap (as was the case with the Gear S2), so if something happens to the main strap, you'll most likely have to buy a new one. However, it is worth noting that the Gear S3 is compatible with absolutely any strap from various watch manufacturers, so you can choose the one that suits you best.

The wireless charging dock is good for its compact size and the presence of a magnet, thanks to which the watch is held while charging. In fact, the dock design is similar to what we saw in the Gear S2, so we won't repeat it.

Design

Let's take a closer look at the watch itself. They look great, it feels like you’re wearing not a smartwatch, but some kind of Tag Heuer. And this comparison is not accidental: the Gear S3 looks exactly the same as one of the models of the famous Swiss brand. However, Samsung is not at all shy about this and says that one of the goals when creating the Gear S3 was its similarity to a regular watch. All those who complained that smartwatches look somehow ridiculous can breathe easy.

The Frontier version looks brutal. Like the Gear S2, the watch screen is round and has no dead spots. Steel body, grey. You can control the Gear S3 either using the rim (bezel) or by “flipping” on the screen itself. If you have thin hands, you might want to take a closer look at the Classic version - it's a few millimeters narrower. For example, on the hand of the author of the article, Frontier looked too bulky.

Like the Gear S2, the main design element is the rotating bezel. Operating the watch is really very comfortable: every step in the menu is felt, so it’s really very difficult to miss the right item. When you control it using the bezel, you get real aesthetic pleasure: at such moments you understand that this is exactly how a smartwatch should be controlled.

There are two function keys on the right; they are easy to press. The bottom button allows you to exit to the home menu, the top button allows you to return to the previous menu or screen. Below the bottom button is a microphone hole. On the left there are three speaker holes - the watch can be used as a hands-free headset, which is very convenient if you are, for example, driving.

Screen

The front surface of the screen is made in the form of a glass plate with a mirror-smooth surface that is scratch-resistant. On the outer surface of the screen there is a special oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating (effective, noticeably better than that of Google Nexus 7 (2013)), so fingerprints are removed much easier and appear at a lower speed than in the case of regular glass. Judging by the reflection of objects, the anti-glare properties of the screen are slightly worse than those of the Google Nexus 7 2013 screen. For clarity, here is a photo in which a white surface is reflected when the screens are turned off:

The screen of the Samsung Gear S3 is a little brighter (brightness according to photographs is 131 versus 113 for the Nexus 7). Note that from bright objects reflected in the screen, there is a not very pronounced bluish halo, more elongated along the wrist. The reflection ghosting is weak, which indicates that there is no air gap between the layers of the screen. When manually controlling the brightness and displaying the white field in full screen, the maximum value (10 on the scale) of brightness was about 600 cd/m², the minimum (1 on the scale) was 10 cd/m². You can enable automatic brightness adjustment based on the light sensor, which is presumably located under the screen. Depending on the adjustment value (we present the results for 1, 6 and 10), in complete darkness the auto-brightness function reduces the brightness to 10, 20 and 130 cd/m² (the first two values are normal), in an office illuminated by artificial light (about 550 lux) sets to 10, 130 and 300 cd/m² (only the average value is suitable). It turns out that the auto-brightness function works adequately and to some extent allows the user to customize their work to individual requirements. Note that the brightness decreases only after the screen is turned off and on. In very bright environments (from bright day lighting conditions outdoors, but without direct sunlight (20,000 lux) and brighter), the brightness always increases to an incredible 950 cd/m², regardless of whether auto-brightness is turned on or not. This ensures that the user always sees what the watch is showing him.

In the graphs of brightness (vertical axis) versus time (horizontal axis), only for low brightness can one see significant modulation at 50 Hz.

As a result, at low brightness there is a visible flicker of the image, but the modulation phase somehow changes depending on the coordinate on the screen, which significantly reduces the noticeability of the flicker.

This screen uses a Super AMOLED matrix - an active matrix on organic light-emitting diodes. A full-color image is created using subpixels of three colors - red (R), green (G) and blue (B) in equal numbers, as confirmed by a fragment of a microphotograph:

For comparison, you can see the gallery of microphotographs of screens used in mobile technology.

We observed a similar “structure” of the screen, for example, in the case. The spectra are typical for OLED - the primary color areas are well separated and appear as relatively narrow peaks:

Accordingly, the coverage is noticeably wider than sRGB, and there are no attempts to reduce it:

Note that the colors of regular images optimized for devices with sRGB screens appear unnaturally saturated on screens with a wide color gamut without appropriate correction:

Pay attention to the tomatoes and the shade of the girl's face. The color temperature of the white and gray fields is approximately 7500 K, and the deviation from the black body spectrum (ΔE) is 2 units. Color balance is acceptable. Black is just black from any angle. It is so black that the contrast setting is simply not applicable in this case. When viewed perpendicularly, the uniformity of the white field is excellent. The screen has excellent viewing angles with a much smaller drop in brightness when looking at the screen at an angle compared to LCD screens. In general, the quality of the screen can be considered very high.

Interface and functionality

Like previous generations of smartwatches and other Samsung fitness devices, the Gear S3 runs the Tizen operating system. The South Korean company continues to believe in its OS and is actively developing it. At the time of writing, the watch was running Tizen OS version 2.3.2.

The user is greeted with a traditional menu consisting of the following applications: Settings, S Voice, Music, Weather, S Health, Contacts, Phone, Messages, Phone Finder, Gallery, Brief News, World Clock, Alarm Clock, Calendar, Reminders, Baroltimeter. You can install other applications from the Galaxy Apps store. You are unlikely to find Google and Yandex.Maps applications there, but it is quite possible to download Yandex.Transport or order a taxi using the watch.

As for the dials, there are 14 options available out of the box. If for some reason you don’t have enough of them, then welcome to the store. You can see the available watch faces in the screenshots below.

Of course, the Galaxy Apps store is developing, but it is still very difficult for it to compete with the similar Apple product.

Smartphone operation and compatibility

Samsung is actively working to ensure that its smartwatches reach as many users as possible. Literally at the time of writing this article, compatibility with iOS was implemented.

First, let's test how the watch works in tandem with the flagship smartphone Galaxy S7 Edge.

On any of the Galaxy devices, you already have the necessary application to work with the clock, it’s called Samsung Gear. The principle of its operation has not changed since the Gear S2, so we will not repeat it and describe it in detail - if you want, take a look at our Gear S2 review. It’s much more interesting to check the Gear S3’s operation with other devices: for example, we tried connecting the watch to the not-so-new LG G4s.

You won't be able to simply connect your watch to the LG G4s (or any other Android device). You will need:

  1. The Samsung Gear app itself
  2. Gear S Plugin
  3. Samsung Accessory Service

Moreover, after installing them, you can only connect the watch. To get the full experience, you'll need a Samsung Account (to download apps), and if you want to use S Health on your Android device, you'll also need to download it separately.

Of course, progress compared to the Gear S2 does not stand still, and this time we were able to “make friends” of the watch with an LG smartphone, but the connection process took us quite a long time.

As for connecting to iOS devices (we are talking about the iPhone, since the Gear S3, unfortunately, does not work with other iOS devices), here to work with the watch you only need the Samsung Gear S application. After you install it on your iPhone, you can fully manage your watch: install and uninstall applications, as well as track other important information.

The watch can be used to receive and send calls. This is very convenient if you are, for example, driving and reaching for your phone is not very comfortable at the moment. Unfortunately, unlike the Gear S (the first generation of Samsung smartwatches), you won’t be able to use the Gear S3 as a standalone device: it must be paired with a smartphone via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Currently, virtual e-SIM is not supported by Russian mobile operators.

Battery life

On average, when using the Gear S3 in conjunction with a Samsung device, the watch lasts about 2 days. This is a good indicator, especially considering that the display, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi are always on. In “normal” mode, where the screen turns on only when you use the watch, the Gear S3 can last up to 4 days.

conclusions

Samsung Gear S3 is a logical continuation of the line of smart watches from the South Korean company, which is certainly worth a closer look if you are planning to purchase this type of device. The Frontier version that we tested is recommended for everyone who leads an active lifestyle: the watch has various degrees of protection, is not afraid of shocks, high and low temperatures, so it is almost impossible to break it. But if you have small hands or lead an “office” lifestyle, we would recommend checking out the Classic version.

A logical question immediately arises: is it worth taking the Gear S3 if I have a Gear S2 or Gear S? In the case of the Gear S, it’s definitely “yes” - after all, this device came out three years ago and is already obsolete. The Gear S has a smaller battery capacity, no support for fourth-generation cellular networks, and a very controversial charger concept. But with the Gear S2, not everything is so simple: the model appeared in 2015, but Samsung is still actively working on its development: the fact that it was not removed from the market, but made into a cheaper version, speaks volumes. From a software point of view, the Gear S2 is almost as good as the Gear S3: it can also connect to other Android devices or iPhones. Therefore, in this case, you should be guided only by your desire and financial capabilities: if you have the funds to buy a new toy, great, you can go to the store to buy it. No - you have a good, current model, and you may well miss the new product.

A few months ago, Samsung released the next continuation of its line of smartwatches. The model was called Samsung Gear S3. We had one of the copies of this model in our editorial office. How do they differ from the previous model and smart watches from other manufacturers?

The history of watches goes back hundreds of years. More precisely, it took about 400 years for pocket watches on a chain to evolve into modern electronic devices on the wrist, in which time display is nothing more than one of the functions.

When did the first smart watches appear?

The first watches that could do more than just show time were released back in the mid-eighties of the last century. First separately by Seiko, and later in collaboration with Epson. The line was labeled RC, and the characteristics of the devices were ridiculous by today's standards, but absolutely fantastic for that time. For example, the RC-20, released in 1985, was equipped with an 8-bit processor, 8 KB of internal memory and 2 KB of RAM. The display had a resolution of 42 by 32 pixels. They were loaded with scheduling apps, notes, a world clock, and a calculator. The watch could be connected to a computer for programming. Most popular computers of the time were supported, such as the Apple II, IBM PC, NEC 8201 and others.

At the turn of the two millennia, an attempt was made to make another watch that was ahead of its time. In June 2000, IBM introduced the world to a prototype wristwatch running on Linux. The watch had an accelerometer, vibration motor and even a fingerprint sensor. Citizen was chosen as a partner and was ready to collaborate with IBM to create the WatchPad. It was assumed that the model would be equipped with a display with a resolution of 320 by 240 pixels and run on Linux 2.4. The watch also had to have a built-in calendar, Bluetooth, 8 MB of RAM and 16 MB of internal memory. The WatchPad was supposed to cost only $399, but for a number of reasons the project was canceled after two years.

So things went sluggishly with smartwatches until in 2012 Pebble presented its vision of such an accessory on Kickstarter, and the media increasingly began to feed the market with rumors about the imminent appearance of the iWatch, as they were called then. Here, as they say, “here we go.” All manufacturers began to produce their own versions of this device. Moreover, technology has already made it possible to do something truly worthwhile.

Design was difficult early on, and few could come up with something interesting that didn't seem like a Tamagotchi toy on a strap. There were, of course, exceptions in the form of Moto 360, but this was rare. Even the appearance of the cute curved Samsung Gear S didn't help the situation much.

Then they were replaced by the Samsung gear S2, which looked more like a classic watch, and on August 31, 2016, the newest Gear S3 was officially presented, one of the nice features of which is decent compatibility not only with Android devices, but even with the iPhone.

Now about the Gear S3 itself

Externally, the watch turned out to be solid and even impressive. They don't feel like a plastic toy on your wrist. But at the same time, I personally didn’t like the way they fit on my hand. I love big watches, and my main watch is a fairly large chronometer. It's big and weighty, but fits more comfortably than the Gear S3. This is where the first disadvantage lies. Also, despite the fashion for large watches among women, it is unlikely that they will fit well on the graceful wrist of a young girl. Of course, you need to try and try it on, but I very much doubt that in this case the Samsung Gear S3 will be a good option.

Housing, screen and controls

There are two types of housing. We had a black case at our disposal. Watches in this design are marked as “Frontier”, which means “border”. There is also a classic silver version with the predictable name Classic. Externally, Frontier is more aggressive and somewhat sporty, which cannot be said about the classic version, in which even the side buttons are made in a classic style, and if you install one of the traditional options as a dial, then at a quick glance it will be even more difficult to distinguish them from ordinary watches. Even on the Frontier, if you turn on the chronometer dial, then, of course, there is no one hundred percent similarity with the mechanics, but visually the sensations are very interesting. There is even a mode with a constantly lit screen to enhance the effect. There are a lot of options for watch faces. Only a dozen standard options are initially installed, but in addition to this, you can download many more to suit every taste.

The screen has a resolution of 360 by 360 pixels, which with a diagonal of 1.3 inches provides a pixel density of 278 pixels per inch. The matrix is Super AMOLED, and the screen protection is Corning Gorilla Glass SR+.

In terms of functionality and content, the differences between the two versions of the model are minimal. These include only the weight, which for the classic is 57 grams, for the Frontier 62 grams, and the impact-resistant body of the latter. That's probably why they weigh more. The biggest difference is that some versions of the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier have the ability to work with an electronic SIM card.

The device case has a moisture and dust resistance level of ip68, which prevents dust from getting inside and allows you to immerse the watch in fresh water to a depth of one and a half meters for up to 30 minutes. True, on the Samsung website, of course, it is written that the watch is not suitable for diving and swimming.

Additional protection of the screen from scratches and damage is provided by the fact that the display is recessed into the case, and the bezel, which is the main control element of the watch, rises quite high above it. By rotating it, you can move between widgets and menu items, as well as adjust volume, brightness and much more. The bezel is discrete and rotates very smoothly and pleasantly. At the moment of rotation, if you bring the watch to your ear, you can hear a pleasant sound from its rotation, similar to the sound of the rotation of the crown of a mechanical watch. The idea of rotating the bezel is obvious, since there have long been chronometers that implement a similar mechanism. True, there it performs a different function, but nevertheless, Samsung specialists are great for finding such a control method and being able to implement it efficiently.

The bezel is especially nice in combination with the Tizen operating system that runs the watch and is built around this control, unlike Android Wear, where you have to swipe across the screen many times more often. But the disadvantage of this Tizen, in comparison with Android Wear, is the lack of a full-fledged voice assistant. There is also an analogue here, but it works somewhat worse than the usual “Ok! Google.”

Fitness

Traditionally, fitness has many functions. These include activity tracking, stair climb counting, a heart rate monitor that monitors your condition every 15 minutes, and even GPS. Separately, it is worth noting the barometer and altimeter, which will not be useful to everyone, but will definitely find their connoisseur.

If you play any sport with gloves on or just walk down the street on a cool day, then a mode is provided for this that increases the sensitivity of the screen, thereby allowing you to use it without taking off your gloves. Of course, this will not always work, and if you have gloves comparable in appearance to welder’s gloves, then nothing will work, but in some situations it will definitely be more convenient.

Charging and autonomy

According to Samsung, the battery in the Gear S3 lasts for 4 days of use. I can't confirm this. I was only able to use them for two days with fairly active use. If you significantly reduce the load on the battery, you will get a maximum of three days, no more. If you activate the always-on screen mode, the increased energy consumption will predictably take several more hours of battery life away from the battery. It turns out that there is nothing outstanding in this matter, everything is almost the same as that of competitors. The capacity of the built-in battery, by the way, is 380 mAh, which also does not cause sacred awe.

The watch charges contactlessly, which is convenient, but charging itself is inconvenient. If it were in the form of a flat tablet, it would be much nicer, but as it is, it is very angular and fits awkwardly in a bag if you need to take it on the road. But the box can be turned into a charging station. We thread the wire through the special slots - and you're done. But, as for me, it would be more logical to make the wire outlet at the bottom of the box.

Straps

Samsung has made a very nice step to meet users. The belts are 22 millimeters wide, which allows you to install not only one of the options offered by the company, namely multi-colored rubber, leather and crocodile-embossed ones, but also the lion’s share of the usual universal ones. At least from his grandfather’s trophy ones, with whom he went through the war.

Cross-platform and memory

A nice feature of the watch is its certain cross-platform functionality. Use is possible with both Android and iOS. All you have to do is download the app and you're done. At the same time, there is no need to talk about reduced functionality. At least if you compare other phones on Android (not Samsung) and iOS.

The built-in memory of the watch is 4 GB. Decent, but only one and a half are available to the user. But you can fill them with music, connect wireless headphones and go for a run without a phone, and training statistics will be collected by the built-in software, including GPS, which I talked about earlier.

Results

So what can we say about the watch, to sum it up? The watch turned out to be pleasant and quite similar to classical mechanics. I would even add an optional “ticking” mode for connoisseurs, so that the imitation would be even more believable, and they would be more likely to look at this gadget. Otherwise, by and large, these are ordinary smartwatches at the level of competitors, and in some places a little higher, but in any case, these are just smartwatches with their inherent functions. They can be used to conduct telephone conversations, not miss notifications and reminders, and collect activity statistics, but for real fans of mechanics they will not be able to replace what they are used to. Moreover, it is difficult to call a watch for 25,000 rubles fashionable. It's not cheap for a smartwatch, but for those who can afford a really expensive watch, or even just an expensive one, and want to show everyone that they can afford it, and for those who just love a beautiful classic watch, the Samsung Gear S3 is not will do. If even the smart Tag Heuer Connected model, which, according to forecasts, was supposed to become a bridge between smart watches and classic Swiss mechanics, did not take root, then there is also no need to talk about anything more.

For myself, I decided that neither good design nor cross-platform stimulating my desire to buy such a watch. Even with all my openness to something new. For me, the main off-putting factor was the Gear S3's somewhat clunky feel, which makes it less usable than many even larger models, and the lack of breakthrough in battery life. I've always said that there's nothing wrong with charging your watch every night, but it would be interesting to use something that lasts significantly longer than all the others. In any case, everyone decides for themselves what to use.

13.07.2018

In April 2017, I came across a very profitable and successful promotion, and I purchased a Gear S3 frontier. For more than two years, Samsung has not reduced the price of this accessory. However, at that moment, a random discount of 10 thousand rubles did not leave me indifferent, and the watch was purchased. However, I also wanted to change the old gadget.

The first emotions, according to tradition, were vivid. Excellent stylish watch, which is made in a sporty style. They go great with a white shirt and look good with sports T-shirts. In principle, in all situations, frontier looks natural on the hand. An incredibly successful design for a watch, especially a smart watch. Such a 100% hit rate is surprising for Samsung designers.

But in addition to its interesting appearance, the watch has many interesting advantages that, in general, set the device apart from the army of competing gadgets from Apple and other manufacturers. However, over time, for me personally, all these advantages somehow came down to contactless payment and periodic change of dials. All other features remained not very popular, and the manufacturer is partly to blame for this.

I have been persistently writing for many years that Samsung devices cannot be reviewed even after a month of use. Koreans are incredibly talented at changing the capabilities (software functions) of devices, so with each new firmware the user experience changes. These feelings change either for the better or for the worse. They add something, often take away a lot of things (which users may like) and forget about it forever. As a rule, Samsung does not care about the interests of users. It all depends on the specific device. Perhaps for their devices it is necessary to write several reviews at different time intervals in order to fully reflect the operating experience. In any case, the durability of the Gear S3 on my hand is decent and is just over 15 months. I’ll try to talk about why cognac only gets better over time, and smart watches become less useful.

I will describe my typical day with a smart watch, which remains on my wrist 5 days a week out of 7 possible, because at least on the weekend I need to stay without all these gadgets - to take a break from electromagnetic radiation...

My morning begins, probably like that of any average Russian, at 6 or 7 am. You need to wake up to go to training or run to work. It depends how it turns out, depending on whether you got enough sleep today. Of course, almost immediately, as I get ready, I put the watch on my left hand.

The experience of using the Gear S3 as an alarm clock was not successful. Firstly, the watch is quite bulky. Sleeping with a rubber strap that tightens your wrist and a massive watch is not very comfortable. This is not a thin bracelet, but a full-fledged noticeable device. Secondly, the watch does not have a “smart” alarm clock that could analyze the phases of sleep and wake you up at a potentially convenient time interval for the body. This function remains with fitness bracelets. Thirdly, there is no certainty that during sleep you will not simply turn off the clock or begin to unknowingly come into contact with the settings. Of course, when activating the PIN code, the chances of unconsciously changing the settings are reduced, but you can still situationally turn off the alarm clock at the awakening stage and continue to stay in the kingdom of Morpheus. But most likely you won’t fall asleep with them on your arm, at least I managed to only once, but that’s a completely different story...

The adjustable vibration intensity is enough to feel the wake-up signal. In addition, you can even choose the type of vibration. Of course, vibration can be accompanied by a sound signal, but you won’t be able to set your favorite melody as an alarm sound.

Are we still going to training today? Yes, the watch is great for training analytics. Fitness functions can be launched in two modes: automatically and manually. The automatic mode starts working when, for example, you climb onto the simulator. You start running on the treadmill, and literally within a minute the watch starts automatically counting your activity. The problem with this function is that there is no “hot start” as such, and activity counting does not start immediately. In principle, the data on simulators and watches vary. In some situations the clock is undercounted, and in others it is overcounted. But personally, I’m very happy that the watch can at least distinguish between an elliptical trainer and a treadmill.

You will need the manual mode for activating the fitness function when you decide to climb on an exercise bike in the gym. The watch only understands cycling on its own if you are riding on rough terrain. In the gym, cycling training needs to be manually activated because your arms are likely to be in a relatively static state to recognize cycling activity. Do these indicators differ from what the simulator shows? Certainly.

Strength training must be entered manually for it to be reflected in S Health. But who is ready to spend time on this? The watch recognizes various activities in the form of jumps, planks and other movements with apparatus as mixed activities. But it is better to add them manually, just like the amount of water you drink. Are you ready to do this? I am not ready.

From this we can conclude that there is practically no point in using a watch in the gym. We need full integration with sports equipment so that the most accurate indicators can be recorded. Someday we will come to this.

I almost forgot about one important parameter - the heart rate monitor. If you record your pulse and monitor your heart rhythms, then this is perhaps the only criterion by which a gym watch will be useful to you. The watch reads your heart rate during workouts very accurately. The watch can count your heart rate continuously, with changes in activity, at intervals, or at a specified time. Yes, and the function is implemented quite conveniently. The watch notifies you of all activities and new indicators with light vibration and a calm melodic sound. The pulse is counted even while moving, which can be called a kind of progress.

What do you usually do during training? I listen to music. Google in Android Wear 2.0 shamelessly ruined the ability to download tracks to a wearable gadget, making the only possible listening to music through the proprietary Google Music service. Of course, in the conditions of high competition among streaming services, in my opinion, it does not stand up to criticism. I use Apple Music and Yandex.Music. But here's an insider. Wangyu, Google is slowly rehabilitating itself, and will soon launch the ability to preload podcasts on watches with OS Wear 2.0 through its new proprietary service. It seems to me that this will become a new competitive (software) advantage for smart watches on Android.

You can transfer downloaded tracks to this Tizen OS watch using your smartphone. This is cool. The process of sending files does not take much time, but you will have to wait. Approximately 30 songs will be copied to the watch memory within 5 minutes. Using the built-in player, you can play songs both through the device's speaker and directly through headphones connected via Bluetooth. In addition, you can duplicate music to your watch via your smartphone, but it won’t work the other way around. Don't forget that you can control playback on your smartphone using the watch player, even if the music is playing through third-party applications.

Unfortunately, the built-in memory is 4 GB, part of which is occupied by the system and applications. Therefore, it will be difficult to fit even Christina Aguilera’s discography here.

The watch is not afraid of absolutely any dust or moisture. For some users, dust gets under the rotating bezel, and it turns with clicks and begins to scroll under force. Fortunately, this problem never took me by surprise during the year. But I didn’t sit in the sandbox with a clock either. It even turned out that I went to the sandy beach without a watch. But the watch successfully survived the rain and swimming in ponds and pools. I have not tested their viability in salt water, but I am convinced that if possible, it is better not to test gadgets in such conditions. I saw people in a sauna a couple of times with the Gear S3, although resistance to high temperatures is not stated as a characteristic. I didn’t test my own, but others’ watches seemed to survive even after such extreme tests. The Frontier version, according to some friends, has protection against vibration, shock and temperature, but I have not found any documentary evidence anywhere...

The watch has one small nuance. For example, if you have a wet hand and you take off a watch whose back is still wet and place it on a smooth, flat surface, it will continue to “believe” that it is on your hand. In such a situation, they notify that the pulse cannot be counted and that you have not had any movements for a long time. At the same time, the device does not give up trying to read it if it does not work initially. It’s good that the program does not include the possibility that the user could potentially leave this world. This bug was noticed a long time ago, because after training I left the watch in my locker for half an hour, and upon returning I found the corresponding notifications. To avoid additional consumption of battery power, you should immediately wipe the watch dry after use if necessary.

Sometimes, instead of going to the gym, my morning starts with a jog in a nearby park. But now it’s summer, so it’s quite hot here very early in the morning. At this time of year, you want to hide somewhere and attach a split system to your back so as not to be separated from the coolness until November. The fitness capabilities of the watch are fully revealed not indoors, but outdoors.

Select the required running pace on your watch and hit the road. The report starts within 5 seconds, which are required to activate the GPS. In case of inactivity, the sensor automatically turns off, because if it were constantly running, the clock would hardly survive until the evening. During a run, the watch shows the duration of the workout, elevation changes, heart rate, distance and speed. After completing the workout, you can see full information about the workout and brag (okay, if so) about the information on social networks. The specified information is saved in the log on the watch and on the smartphone. The watch syncs via the cloud and can connect to Wi-Fi itself, so you often don't need active Bluetooth on both devices. In addition, the watch can be managed via a cloud service. This is an interesting alternative to Bluetooth.

Every kilometer, the watch notifies you about the distance covered and gives you hints if you initially planned to maintain the same speed for the entire distance. If you speed up too much, the watch starts to vibrate. Similar actions occur if you slow down unduly. The tooltips display encouraging phrases. The path can be viewed on the map, because the track itself is recorded and visually displayed. The gadget calculates speed and distance accurately.

It's time to go to work. I'm lucky because my commute to work takes about 15-25 minutes, and sometimes I walk and sometimes I take public transport. Step counting, according to my measurements, is very accurate. The watch copes with this successfully. As a pedometer, this is a great solution. The pedometer cannot be fooled, even if you plan to stand still and joyfully wave your arms in one direction. It’s difficult for me to say anything about the calorie calculator, but it definitely records something and somehow converts your activity into energy expended. How accurate is difficult to say.

The world is so amazing that each of us is individual. It is, of course, impossible to adjust software algorithms in mass devices for each user. Perhaps someday artificial intelligence will reach wearable electronics, then we will be able to fully experience the accuracy of all calculations, but for now we have to be content with the average statistical “this is the norm.” But again, the norm for a Chinese is not the norm for an American, and vice versa. I'm talking about walking intensity and step length.

Krasnodar has long become the world capital of traffic jams. But the Gear S3 can run two very useful apps. Of course, these applications do not help in the fight against traffic jams. Yandex.Traffic allows you to evaluate the traffic situation in points and get upset in advance, and Here Maps allows you to build a route. The watch can be used for navigation, but you need to download maps in advance or activate a connection with your phone to access the Internet. Navigation is implemented conveniently, and the most banal basic functionality is present here. I think someone can even use it while driving, but it is still more suitable for walking. Although why not, after all, a fairly loud speaker (comparable to the low volume of a telephone) can announce the road route. All tracks are very accurately laid out on maps due to the presence of GPS. GPS support is a key feature for any smartwatch, in my opinion. Without GPS and GLONASS, it is impossible to control movement and achieve accuracy in calculations.

Even though I am an office worker, our work is fraught with dangers. You can get paper cuts, coffee poisoning, and a seizure over a missed deadline or a lost document. But there are even more dangers to watches in the outside world. For example, you might accidentally get caught on a wall or door. It is especially tragic to do this when a personal gadget, and not a test sample, is damaged. Of course, every contact of a watch with a hard surface is exciting. There were times when I recklessly grabbed onto it and thought “that’s it” - that the watch was hopelessly scratched. But, as fate would have it, my watch has only a few small, barely noticeable scratches and abrasions, and they do not spoil the appearance of the device at all. I can note that the materials used are quite durable and the paint is durable. Any other plastic watch would have had to be thrown away or taken to a service center a long time ago. I would like to praise the designers for the materials used (their strength). Down with plastic in watches. Yes, and the watch is quite nice in appearance. Metal is always noticeable. I love the look of the watch, although I'm a fan of classic style and definitely sleek minimalism.

Traditionally, by lunchtime there is a lot of work. You have to quickly run between offices, participate in events and urgently write something. If you've lived in the south, you know how hellishly hot it can be here. All air conditioners have been working at their limit for a long time, and it seems cool in the room, but the activity stimulates thermal processes around. In general, I quite often take off my watch at work if I understand that I will be sitting at the computer for the next hour without a break. No matter how hard you try not to fasten the strap tightly, it will still tighten your hand, and this will make you uncomfortable. I take off my watch so that my wrist doesn’t sweat again. A rubber strap is definitely not the best option. Somehow I managed to buy a second one just like it, but only in white. You know, there is nothing better than thin and light skin. During use, the strap has become slightly worn due to friction, but if you don’t look closely, it may seem that it is in good condition. Fortunately, the manufacturer uses materials that are practical and durable, but they do not create a high level of comfort and convenience. Thank you that no allergies appeared during use, which is also very important. The materials used are hypoallergenic and do not cause skin irritation.

Heading out for lunch? Samsung Pay will help us here. To launch the application, you need to hold the top side button for three seconds. Enter your PIN code (the procedure is mandatory and requires entering 4 digits) and you will have access to selecting a card. Pressing the "pay" on-screen button and touching the terminal - the payment is completed. Probably, out of the hundreds of times I paid for purchases using my watch, the payment did not go through only three times. Restarting solved the problem. In fact, it is convenient to pay for purchases over hours, and it still amuses some sellers and cashiers. However, payment this way is no faster than with a smartphone. Someday a fingerprint scanner will be built into the watch screen, and this whole procedure will become easier and faster.

Card registration is carried out using a telephone. Data is transferred to the watch and stored in the device's memory. The process of transferring information from the watch to the terminal occurs instantly and is implemented using Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST), but if contact is not established, then NFC is activated in the watch and payment is made through the second technology. In some modern terminals, “crawling” across the front side of the terminal can take about 10 seconds, because payment is made using NFC. I noticed that on very old terminals, contact via MST is realized instantly. All these nuances are related to the operating principle of Samsung Pay and the terminals themselves. But be prepared for the fact that the process of paying by phone when comparing takes less time.

It’s good that the company has implemented this functionality in watches. By the way, in the sports version of Gear there is payment only using NFC. The Gear S3 version of Samsung Pay does not support rewards cards, gift cards, or loyalty cards.

Throughout the day, I actively receive notifications from various social networks. All these notifications can be duplicated on the watch screen. You can respond to incoming messages using your watch. The answer can be dictated (recognition works accurately, but there are no punctuation marks), written (the swipe keyboard is convenient, but you don’t always want to dirty the display with fingerprints and stains) or choose from pre-prepared templates (the watch roughly estimates options and even suitable emoticons, but this is not similar to informative communication). Recently, it has become possible to listen to voice recordings, but listening to them through the phone's speaker provides a greater level of privacy. Notifications arrive instantly and are displayed in full. But when you swipe notifications (and even respond to them) on your watch, they often end up unread on your phone, and you don’t want to do a “bad” job twice. Yes, and constant notifications, even in silent mode, are sometimes annoying and do not allow you to calmly check the time. Don't forget that people around you can see them.

But the key issue of communication through a watch is the battery charge. Active correspondence through the clock drains it literally before our eyes. Correspondence through an additional device also affects the charge of the smartphone, since sending is still carried out through the “parental unit”. So we get an extra branch of devices. For some it will be convenient, but for others notifications remain an unclaimed functionality. To work with them, there is a separate field among the widgets, which opens when you scroll the bezel to the left.

You can use your watch to answer calls. They actually duplicate the capabilities of the headset.

It’s worth talking a little about device control. Swiping down from top to bottom opens the shortcut panel. They can be customized. Everything is like on smartphones, and it is very convenient. Moving the bezel to the left opens the section with notifications, and to the right - with widgets. Pressing the top button opens any preset app and Samsung Pay, while the bottom button opens the app menu. Navigation is carried out via a touch screen and a rotating bezel. When turned, it makes a pleasant clicking sound. That's all. The application menu displays all programs downloaded through Samsung Apps.

What applications are pre-installed out of the box? In the menu you can find: phone, settings, gallery, messages, Galaxy Apps (the watch does not need a smartphone to install the software, you can download it directly), S Health, contacts, weather, music, S Voice (absolutely useless, because there is no level here implementation of Google Assistant, but banal queries), reminders, baroaltimeter (useful in the mountains), calendar, alarm clock, world clock, phone search, email, news, Internet radio, calculator, speedometer (for measuring travel speed), timer, voice notes (works through the phone as a voice recorder), stopwatch, remote controller for VR glasses. There are useful applications, but I use them quite rarely. There is even a browser (not from Samsung), but it works too slowly and too poorly. What's missing is a proper office application. Without this software, Gear S3 remains very unclaimed among schoolchildren and students.

In general, there are not many applications; almost all of them are presented by third-party developers. Support is provided, but applications are developed and updated rarely. In general, I get the impression that against the backdrop of Wear OS, watches on Tizen OS practically do not progress at all. Voice control is developing very actively there, swiping is becoming more functional, and there are more applications. Here everything is somehow fixated on the same thing - a rotating bezel. And so much time has passed, and I have not seen any progress in the software. Even in the latest firmware, for some reason, they removed the internal yellow-orange illumination of the bezel, which is now displayed only when training starts, but initially it was a very beautiful wow feature in the dark when receiving notifications. Over time, gesture control also disappeared somewhere...

There are plenty of applications, but many of them will not be widely used. There are banal games that allow you to distract yourself for a minute and pass the time. Programs can be minimized, but after launching three to five programs, the clock begins to slow down noticeably... do not forget to close background processes, as they say.

The working day is coming to an end and it's time to get ready to go. By taxi? Perhaps, with the help of Yandex.Taxi you can call a car. A phone connection is required, although all operations can be performed directly on the watch. If you set up a profile, you can choose a payment method in your account. Comfortable. Quite. But does this make sense if a connection to the phone is required? This is the key problem with watches: they do not complement or expand the capabilities of a smartphone, but only duplicate them on a small screen. Try using your watch with one hand. You can't! What if you still have a package or bag in your hands? In general, the watch does not allow the user to feel freer in typical scenarios, but only partially complicates the usual processes. I can’t imagine a person who would feel the urge to call a taxi on his watch while his phone is connected.

With a change of scenery (to a more pleasant, relaxing evening atmosphere), it is logical to change the dials. Fortunately, there are a great many of them here. You will definitely find something to your taste. I have a favorite selection of 20 watch faces that I change periodically depending on my surroundings. Many watch faces can be customized, stylized, and modified in every way. There are many active dials that display this or that information in real time. In addition, the watch screen is always active, so it performs its key function - showing the time. The screen is very bright, so you can view the information in any conditions. There is an automatic brightness adjustment sensor, which does its job very skillfully.

Well, the evening is coming to an end and upon returning home it’s time to take off your watch. Let's move on to the most interesting part - autonomy. The manufacturer claims that the watch can work for 4 days without recharging. This was once true, but after the latest major update they work at half the capacity. Yes, with the latest firmware they have noticeably lost autonomy. If the watch is constantly in contact with the phone and receives notifications, then one charge will last for a day. If you disconnect the watch from the phone and use it autonomously, then its charge lasts for about two days, depending on the type of dial. It’s worth soberly assessing the situation, for example, with active GPS while recording a track, they will last for a maximum of 6 hours (probably I’m too optimistic). Their charge will last approximately the same amount to stream music via Bluetooth to a speaker or headphones. Not a record.

Due to decreased autonomy, I had to buy a second charging cradle in order to be able to “refuel” them at work. Still, they don’t look at all like a switched off accessory. Probably once or twice a month I miss that necessary moment and realize that they do not show the time. Why six months ago the watch could work for several days, but now it cannot? Checking the battery at the service center showed that the problem was not in the battery capacity. Here, go and wonder what Samsung did there. Other users have also noted this problem.

They may become warm while charging. Charging is wireless, and you can build a convenient “podium” from the included box. The battery charging time to 100% is approximately one and a half hours. Not very fast...

The day described in the review showed the capabilities that the watch has.

Speaking about the Gear S3, I would still like to note that this is a very, very successful watch, but quite expensive. They are technologically advanced, have support for all the necessary interfaces and eSIM, which will someday work in Russia. I truly love this watch, but using it has come down to two things: changing watch faces and using Samsung Pay.

At the international forum IFA 2016, Samsung presented one of the models of the third generation of Gear smart watches. The device is available in two versions - and Frontier. The first model is designed for mass demand, and the second for a more selective category of consumers, since the Samsung Gear S3 frontier sm 760 smart watch has expanded functionality and an original stylish design.

Potential and ergonomics

The previous generation of watches forced developers to take a fresh look and improve the watch model. The device turned out to be more aggressive in appearance. The body of the product has increased in diameter and changed its edging - it has become slightly corrugated and with uneven edges.

Control

The main role in the structure of the watch is played by the “digital crown”, a special toothed ring (bezel). It controls basic functions. By scrolling the wheel on the display, all notifications in installed applications pop up one by one while working with the main menu. By clicking on the “window” you can view the details in detail.

Let's say that when working with the “digital crown,” the device speeds up the process of controlling the gadget in the chosen direction.

Strap

Despite the fact that the watch is made in a sporty style, it may well suit a strict business style. Especially for such options, a wide selection of straps in various shades is offered. It’s also impossible to go wrong with the dimensions - Samsung produces three types of sizes S, M and L. The watch case has a diameter of 22 mm, so changing the strap is not difficult. In addition, if you prefer a strict style in everyday life, then take a closer look at the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier watch. They will fit perfectly into a business look.

Display

The body of the Samsung S3 Frontier smartwatch is made of cold forged steel with a matte finish. Only the back of the lid is made of glass, since there are sensors underneath it. The company does not hide the fact that when developing the model, the appearance was guided by the Swiss TAG Heart Connected watches, known for their relationship to elite devices.

The display fully displays all information; there are no voids or so-called “dead zones”, which are usually filled with plastic parts. In addition to the “digital crown,” the watch is controlled using two buttons located on the right side of the case.

On the left side there are three sensors for the speaker. The device copes well with a wireless headset, for example, you can calmly talk while driving without removing the watch from your wrist and without being distracted from the road.

Despite the fact that the watch is declared as a sports watch, it is not entirely convenient to exercise in it. The device is quite bulky, restricts wrist movements and, judging by reviews, the heart rate sensor does not always show the correct results.

Device Features

Let's consider the main characteristics of the presented watch model:

  • compatible with Android device;
  • calendar;
  • Email;
  • social notifications;
  • makes it easy to make and receive phone calls;
  • simple navigation, clear picture;

Equipment

The watch set is in a stylish cylindrical package (small box). The contents are separated by neat cardboard partitions to improve stability during transportation. The device is initially magnetized to the charging part of the product. The average estimated cost in Russian online stores is $370-400.

The kit includes:

  • Samsung Gear S3 Frontier;
  • strap;
  • wireless charging dock;
  • Quick start guide;
  • user guide.

Classic vs Frontier, what's the difference?

Comparing the two models, what you notice first is that the watch has begun to look more massive, despite the fact that the case in both models is the same (46x46x12.9 mm), the strap is normal (22 mm), can be replaced with other similar ones strap models from other manufacturers. If the previous version of S2 galaxy used a separate latch, then the new version does not have anything like that.

Case and strap

Strap options can be different, it all depends on the material and color scheme. They are produced from leather, silicone, rubber. In addition, the case diameter is universal, so straps from other manufacturers will easily fit them. The metal case of the watch uses the same steel as in the Gear S2 watch - 316L, but the case itself has changed - it has become more massive and looks noticeably better.

In the new version of the smartwatch, the rotary mechanism (benzel) remains; it performs the same function as before, but its edging has been made ribbed. Both versions of the watch have an IP68 protection standard, preventing the ingress of moisture, dirt and dust. But, the Frontier model also added such functions as protection against shocks, temperature surges, and monitoring for increased vibration. This innovation is made according to military standards.

We can say that the Classic is the standard version of the watch with the usual set of functions, and the Frontier is a universal “unbreakable” model with the MIL-810G protection standard (the watch is suitable for active training, it is protected from strong impacts, etc.). If you weigh the watch without a strap, the Frontier has an advantage - it is heavier. The fastening element is comfortable, there are no complaints here.

Consider the screen

If in the previous version the size was 1.2 inches, then the improved model has 1.3 inches. The resolution was left the same 360x360 pixels for application compatibility. The smartwatch has a feature that supports AlwaysOn Display, thanks to which the screen is always on. Testing has shown that active work is possible within two days.

The screen is covered with special Corning Gorilla Glass SR+. This makes the watch resistant to scratches and cracks on the glass. In addition, the function ensures high sensitivity of the sensors (if you preset the menu), then the screen will respond to finger touches even with gloves.

The increased screen size has made it possible to improve the charging battery; the capacity has increased to 380 mAh. Wireless charging connection is carried out using the cradle included in the kit. The average duration of a full charge is two hours. The average operating time of the watch depends on what notifications and applications are installed; it is approximately 3-4 days.

The lower side buttons on the previous Classic are simpler and less comfortable, while on the Frontier they have a ribbed surface that makes them easy to press.

The most frequently asked question from clients:

Hello! Please tell me why the prices in your store are lower than in others and sometimes even much lower?

Awesome watch, I've been using it for a month, the charge lasts for 2-3 days with active use!)

Zemlyanukhin Timofey Alexandrovich:

I bought the fire watch for myself in March, and then for my boss in April. Everything works, everything is good. Happy as an elephant. The price of the player is one of the best on the market, and the store has been proven over the years. I recommend!

Alexander:

Is it possible to pay by cash on delivery upon receipt?

The watch is cool. Beautiful. Pros: design, fast operation, charge lasts 2-3 days. Cons - the paint on the Bezel peels off very easily if you don't hit it too hard =(, not the best voice assistant. You need to speak slowly and clearly. But in general, it's a cool watch. 7/10.

Alexander Maksimenko:

This watch is the best gadget I have ever come across. Advantages: 1. They look very solid. It is clear that the watch was designed by watch designers.2. The functionality of the watch is off the charts: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, altimeter, barometer, heart rate sensor...3. The phone operates in headset mode (bluetooth). Excellent microphone settings: when I’m driving a car, I can talk calmly through the watch, and the interlocutor does not experience any discomfort.4. Samsung Pay. I almost stopped taking my credit card out of my pocket. In addition to NFC terminals, these watches can also work with regular terminals: the watch simulates a magnetic field and the terminal thinks that you swiped a magnetic card. This feature really works!5. Samsung Health. Continuously monitor my physical activity. If I go on foot, he periodically encourages me with the message “Keep it up,” etc. If I sit for a long time, it says “It’s time to move.” Automatically determines whether I am walking, riding a bicycle, or running on an elliptical (I don’t know how they determine this). There are no disadvantages. Bottom line: An excellent watch is worth taking. Worth the money 100%

I bought a Samsung Gear S3 frontier watch with good quality. The store provided a qualified service to check the quality of the goods. I'm happy with the hours and recommend everyone to use the Pleer store.

The hour is simply fantastic!!! Sometimes you can’t hear the call because the mobile phone is in your pocket, but the watch vibrates on your hand and shows a call. This helps a lot on the subway.

Excellent shop! The prices are really lower than others. I recommend it to everyone!

Wonderful watch, the bezel lives and does not scratch as many people write. What everyone is silent about is voice commands; they don’t work completely. And the voice dialing of messages is very slow. But overall it’s a good thing))

Hello! Is it possible to test the compatibility of the watch with my specific smartphone (try to connect and test some functionality of interest) in a store on Avtozavodskaya? I'm just not sure if it's compatible with my Chinese phone. I wouldn't want to pay 20k for a pig in a poke.

Hello! Will the Gir3 watch work fully with the Honor8? I’m especially interested in payment via NFC

Reply from the forum: Hello! Samsung officially confirms the compatibility of the Gear S3 with Huawei HONOR 8. These devices also have NFC support. However, there is no more accurate official information regarding their connection through this channel. Thanks for understanding.

Pak Maxim Alekseevich:

The watch corresponds to the description. Everything is great! The store is great! I buy everything I need in this store. Everything is certified and at the lowest prices.

I really like the watch both in appearance and functionality. Very convenient for quickly viewing and briefly responding to various messages without taking out your phone. I also use it for the health program: determining the number of steps, floors, pulse, etc. I also really like using it for payments. I will continue to study their capabilities. I also like the case with information displayed on it when you don’t want to touch the phone panel.

I bought a watch for my son as a gift. I really liked them. Stylish design, multifunctional, charging lasts for at least two days of active use. High quality belt. The son is happy as an elephant!!! I'm interested in such a gift for myself, but I'll wait for a new model. I recommend the store. The prices here are very attractive and I shop often.

Good day! I really liked the Samsung gear s3 frontier watch! Please tell me whether the watch of this model is compatible with the XIAOMI MI MAX 2 smartphone? Thank you!

Reply from the forum: Hello. No.

They fit well on the hand, the strap is very comfortable. I immediately bought the dial through Samsung PEU. Everything installed itself, integration with the phone is perfect. I use it during training, I really like it. Calls in noisy places are problematic, I didn’t find any other disadvantages.

Tell me, you say the country of origin is China, but everywhere else the country of origin is sold is Vietnam? Will the watch have a company warranty?

Reply from the forum: Hello! Certainly! The watch is original and has a company guarantee.

There is information that in Russia Samsubg Pay does not work for S3 watches produced for the states, Chinese emirates, etc. Please check whether payment will work through watches purchased from your store, as this is one of the key functions.

Reply from the forum: Hello! The manufacturer does not provide such information. But, you can ask the owners’ opinion on our forum: http://www.player.ru/
Also, when purchasing, you can personally verify that the product meets your requirements. Our address: Moscow, Avtozavodskaya metro station, st. Masterkova 4, entrance from the 3rd Avtozavodsky passage. Waiting for you!

Anastasia:

Hello. Would you say this watch model is suitable for Samsung S5?

Reply from the forum: Hello! According to the manufacturer, the watch connects to smartphones running Android 4.4 and higher, equipped with more than 1.5 GB of RAM, iOS 9.0 and higher.

Very stylish, a lot of dials in the store, they work for much more than 2 days. The only minus is probably that the phone dies faster when it is constantly connected to the watch, but this is bullshit

Zelentsova Lyudmila Sergeevna:

Thank you site! I bought it for my husband’s birthday! An excellent gadget, the price is cheaper than in other stores. The courier brought it, very responsible, she opened everything and showed it. I’m happy, I recommend it to everyone.

Great watch. They work without interruption. The battery lasts for 2-3 days. I talked through them without taking out my phone. Liked

Zhukova Anna Alekseevna:

The autumn store is convenient with very reasonable prices, you won’t find these anywhere else! The store is a couple of minutes from the metro! There’s no need to wait in line; you’ll be called right away with a ticket! The manager is very competent, sociable, and responsive. There is NO MASTERCARD PAYMENT in the store, only cash!!! The watch is amazing, my husband is delighted! There are no complaints about the work! The appearance is very presentable! I won’t describe the characteristics; everything is described in great detail on the website! Player.ru thank you very much!!! Now I can only recommend you and my friends for equipment!

Hello! Is it possible to find detailed instructions on how to connect Xiaomi redmi Note 4 to Samsung Gear S3! If there are instructions or any website, please send me the link.

Reply from the forum: Hello! Follow the instructions on your watch. To connect you will need:
Samsung Gear app
Gear S Plugin
Samsung Accessory Service
Moreover, after installing them, you can only connect the watch. For full functionality, you will need a Samsung Account (to download applications).

Andrey Revyakin:

PCT hours. The charge lasts for 3-4 days, I am very pleased. Thanks to Player for the nice price.

Excellent purchase, and I was pleased with the store - low price, PCT, fast delivery

Victor Khanychev:

The watch is super, everyone is happy, the service is excellent. Before purchasing this watch, I had the worst opinion about smart watches. I recommend it to everyone. Samsung Gear S3 Frontier SM-760.
