Adding files to a message
Note. If the size of attachments exceeds 25 MB, the files will be automatically downloaded to your (folder Mail attachments → Sent as links to Drive).
Attach from Yandex.Disk
Note. The maximum file size uploaded to Disk is 10 GB. The number of such attachments in a letter is not limited.
Many email services do not accept attachments larger than 10 MB. If you are not sure that such an attachment will be accepted, send it in parts (in several letters) or add the necessary files to the letter via Yandex.Disk.
Add from mail attachments
All files that you have ever sent or received are stored on your Yandex.Disk in the folder.
To add them to a letter:
View attachments
You can open some attachments in the Mail web interface without installing additional programs. The following file formats are supported:
- documents - DOC /DOCX, XLS /XLSX, PPT /PPTX, ODT, ODS, ODP, CSV, RTF, TXT, PDF;
- images - JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, EPS, PSD, CDR, AI;
- archives - ZIP, RAR, TAR.
If a message contains an attachment, it will appear as a thumbnail or icon in the list of messages.

Viewing documents and archives
To view a document or archive, select the desired file and click the View button. The file will open in a new window.
Viewing Images
Pictures in attachments are displayed as thumbnails. To open an image in viewing mode, left-click on the thumbnail.
To exit view mode, click the icon (in the upper right corner) or the Esc key.
I can't attach an attachment
Refresh the page by pressing the key combination Ctrl+F5, and try attaching the attachment again. If the problem persists, clean and remove . Then repeat the desired action again.
Often there is a need to attach a file to an email, for example, attach a resume, report, presentation, table, etc. First, let's define what “attach a file to a letter” means:
- first you create a file,
- then write an email in your mail, in which, in particular, you indicate the presence of an attached file in the letter
- and finally, attach a pre-prepared file to the letter.
I won’t undertake to list all the options for creating files that you can then attach to your letter, but the main options are as follows:
- you can create a file in Notepad (this is a standard Windows program), in the WordPad text editor built into Windows, in the Microsoft Word text editor,
- in graphic editors, for example, Paint (http://www.getpaint.net/), Photoshop, free Gimp (http://gimp.org/),
- you can also create a file using Micosot Excel spreadsheets,
- using Microsoft Power Point presentations,
- in OpenOffice http://ru.openoffice.org/, LibreOffice http://www.libreoffice.org/,
- using the audio program Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/?lang=ru),
- using the video processing program UVScreenCamera (http://uvsoftium.ru/UVScreenCamera.php),
- using the program for creating a .pdf file doPDF (http://www.dopdf.com/)
- etc.
So, we have a mailbox on Yandex, we write a letter, filling out the “To”, “Subject” and the letter field. Then click on the “Attach files” button (number 1 in Fig. 1):

After clicking on the “Attach files” button, the “Select files to send” window will open in front of you, in which
- you need to find a file to attach to the letter,
- 1 LMB (click once with the Left Mouse Button) on the selected file (number 1 in Fig. 2),
- make sure that the required file is in the “File name” field (number 2 in Fig. 2),
- then click on the “Open” button (number 3 in Fig. 2):

Actually, this completes the attachment of the file to the letter:

If you wish, you can check whether we have uploaded the right file. To do this, click on the name of the attached file or on the “View” button (number 1 in Figure 3).
If it turns out that the wrong file was uploaded or something is wrong, then you need to click on the red cross next to the file name (number 2 in Figure 3) - the file will be deleted and automatically unattached from the letter.
You can attach several more files to the same email. Again, click on the “Attach file” button, find the file, and click on “Open”. If the files are small, you can attach many files to one letter. In the above screenshot, two files are attached: with the name “145_Two windows at the same time” and with the name “Polls”.
Sometimes it is more convenient to create a new folder, put all the files to be attached to the letter in this folder, archive the folder and then attach this archive to the letter, just like attaching a regular file.
How to attach a file to a letter in Mail.ru mail
We repeat the same steps described above:

After the text of the letter is ready,
- click on the “Attach file” button (Fig. 4),
- after which the “Select files to send...” window opens (same as in Fig. 2 above for Yandex),
- find your file,
- 1 LMB (left click once) on the file name,
- click on the “Open” button,
all – the file is attached (Fig. 5):

There is a red cross next to the name of the attached file - to unattach the file from the letter.
How to understand that a file is attached to an email
If in Incoming letters you see a paper clip icon next to the received letter (number 1 in Fig. 6 - click on the picture to enlarge it), then the paper clip means that a file is attached to this letter.

You can click on the paperclip icon (number 1 in Fig. 6).
Then you will see a list of attached files in a drop-down window (number 2 in Fig. 6). At the same time, you can think about whether it is worth opening these files. If the sender is suspicious, then the attached files should NOT be opened.
Pay attention to the “Files” menu (number 3 in Fig. 6). If you click on “Files”, you will see a list of all the files sent to you from all your letters.
If you delete a letter from your mail, then the files attached to it are also deleted along with the letter.

If you do not want to attach a file to a letter on a mail service, for example on mail.ru or Gmail.com, and the error “Notification - an error occurred while downloading the following files: the files will be excluded from the download queue” appears
On Gmail.com, this problem appears as the error "The attached file could not be loaded. This may be due to a proxy or firewall." and looks like this:

Adobe flash player is not installed - in this case you need to install it, or select it in the mail.ru settings here
a standard file downloader that uses java rather than flash. On Gmail.com, select the classic file upload tool by clicking on the link underlined in the screenshot above...
enable java in the browser, even if the previous point does not help
check your computer for viruses and remove them if previous solutions do not help or you suspect an infection.
Also, if none of the above helped, try using a different browser, clearing the browser cache and refreshing the page, reloading it after installing Flash Player or enabling it in Java settings.
