Assembly and design

At first glance, the iPhone 8 looks like a very compact and neat smartphone. Its design is no different from the 8 Plus model. The body is made of aluminum and glass.

If in previous models designers focused specifically on aluminum, now this material fades into the background. The back cover is made entirely of durable tempered glass. Because of this, the gadget acquired new characteristic differences. The case shines beautifully in the sun, gets dirty less and fits well in the hand. Also, scratches on glass are less noticeable than on aluminum.

The front frames of the case are made of aluminum. This makes the ends of the smartphone durable and resistant to most physical damage. At the bottom there is a screen unlock button with built-in Touch ID. This is likely the last generation of iPhone to use a fingerprint scanner, as the iPhone X now has Face ID.

At the top we see the front camera, proximity sensor, microphone and earpiece.

On the side faces there are power and volume buttons. Their appearance and functionality have not changed in any way. Everything is done in the best Apple traditions.

Among the disadvantages of the new design, users note the glass back cover. Although it looks beautiful and stylish, glass has an almost 100% guarantee that it will break if dropped. The iPhone 8 battery lasts more than a day without recharging, provided that you use the Internet and make calls over the cellular network. If you plan to watch videos often, you will have to charge the gadget more often.

Also, iPhone 8 supports fast charging and is compatible with Air Power, an external wireless charging station. It is enough to place the gadget on the flat Air Power case to begin the process of filling the battery level.

Performance

The performance of the smartphone is provided by the A11 Bionic chip, which is the latest development from Apple. Those who were not lucky enough to get into the hall named after the company’s founder, Steve Jobs, could follow the online broadcast of the presentation on several platforms at once. Plus, the watch will learn to track changes in altitude.

The event was opened by Apple CEO Tim Cook, who replaced Steve Jobs in this post. First of all, he said that he loved Steve Jobs' voice (it sounded before the start), and then he talked about what his late friend was like and about Jobs' views on life.

Who is suitable for a model with 64GB of memory?

For the first time, the basic version of the iPhone 8 contains as much as 64GB of memory. But there is also a side effect of this improvement - the price has become $50 more expensive.

64GB of memory will be quite enough for normal use. Unlike previous models, the basic version of this one does not contain an absurdly small amount of memory (16GB or 32GB).

Even if you download 5GB of music, several movies and store photos on the device, the minimum memory should be enough. If you plan to shoot video in 4K, then you shouldn't limit yourself to 64GB of memory.

In addition, to save memory, you can use the new iOS 11 features designed specifically for this. iOS 11 can automatically download apps, delete files attached to Messages, make copies of photos, and delete them from the device.

If you're only willing to spend $699 on a new iPhone, then know that 64GB of storage may be enough.

Who is suitable for a model with 256GB of memory?

If you don't want to worry about running out of memory and are willing to pay $150 more, buy the 256GB option.

Even if you download HD movies and a lot of games, and store all the songs, photos and videos on your phone, you still won’t be able to use up all the memory. You won't have to worry about running out of memory every time you want to shoot 4K video at 60fps.

But this year Apple has changed its strategy, so you will either have enough memory or too much memory.

It all depends on how you plan to use your iPhone. It might be worth paying the extra $150, but you'll never have to worry about running out of memory. Or maybe it’s worth saving (the iPhone 8 Plus (256GB) is only $50 cheaper than the iPhone X) and using that money to buy yourself AirPods or AppleCare+.
