What to do if visual bookmarks are missing: solutions in Mozilla Firefox. Yandex elements for Mozilla Firefox

Now the Yandex company offers its users not only high-quality search and reliable mail, but also a number of other useful services that help the user work and spend their leisure time on the Internet. For convenience and quick access to all tools, the developers have released Yandex elements for Mozilla Firefox and other browsers in the form of plug-ins (you can read about the extension for Google Chrome, and for Internet Explorer).

In this article I will introduce the reader to the plugin only for the Firefox browser. For all other browsers, working with the add-on is similar in its principles. Yandex elements for Firefox combine a number of functionality that is available on the search engine portal. However, the plugin allows you to have everything at hand and quickly access your mail, disk, music and pictures from Yandex.

The plugin also includes a number of additional functions that make working with the browser even easier. The first thing I would like to highlight is visual bookmarks, which replace the standard empty browser new tab window. Additional, but no less important, services include:

  • weather;
  • traffic jams;
  • translations;
  • social media.

All this is combined in one installation and enhanced with security measures from Yandex developers.

Installation steps for the Yandex Elements add-on

In order to install Yandex elements for Firefox, you need to go to the page https://element.yandex.ua/ in your browser and click the “Install” button. It is worth noting that if you get to this page from another browser, for example, from, the system will automatically offer to install the extension specifically for the Chrome browser.

No preparatory operations are required for installation, just click “Install now”.

After restarting, new icons will appear to the right of the address bar.

Yandex elements for Mozilla require user authorization on their services. To do this, click on the email icon and you will be immediately redirected to the authorization page. Enter the required data in the appropriate fields and click “Login.”

After authorization, the mail page on the Yandex service will open, and the number of unread letters will be displayed next to the mail letter icon in the Yandex elements. From now on, you can manage your mail without going to the mail page. Authorization will immediately occur in the Yandex Disk system. By clicking on the Disk icon, you can view the latest files saved in the system.

Setting up additional services in the Yandex Elements panel

In the Yandex Elements panel for Mozilla, it is also possible to set up a quick transition:

  • on social networks Odnoklassniki, VK page, Facebook;
  • mail services Rambler, Mail.Ru, Gmail;
  • Yandex services such as Metrica, Direct, Money.

To configure these services, you need to right-click on the list of elements and select “Configure elements (City)”. Or, in the browser menu, select “Add-ons” and in the “Extensions” sub-item, click “Customize” in the “Yandex Elements” line. For each social network, you can configure which sub-items will be displayed in the elements. For example, in the “My VK Page” tab you can choose to display messages, a list of friends, groups, and other things. Each email service and social network will also need to be authorized.

It is also worth describing the “Visual Bookmarks” add-on, which will be installed along with the main elements of Yandex. Now, when you open a new tab in the Firefox browser, you will have access to a quick search, as well as an instant transition to your favorite sites. You can add a maximum of 25 visual bookmarks. However, this should be enough for full-fledged work and relaxation, and will save you from wandering through bookmarks in search of the right site, if you always need it at hand.

Advice! At the bottom right of the same page you can customize its appearance, select wallpaper and other parameters.

If for some reason you need to remove Yandex Elements from Firefox, then this can be done from the extensions panel, where the main settings of the add-on are made. Next to the “Customize” button, which I described above, click the “Delete” button.

After deletion, you need to restart your browser, and its appearance and functionality will be the same.

As you understand, Yandex tries to take care of its users, and therefore its extension for the Mozilla Firefox browser turned out to be multifunctional and easy to use.

Yandex elements is an extension for Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Internet Explorer browsers, which makes working with Yandex services and the Internet more comfortable:

Combines address and search lines: in a single line you can enter not only website addresses, but also search queries;
provides quick access to Yandex services and popular social networks;
helps you quickly navigate to frequently visited sites using visual bookmarks.

  • The functionality of Yandex Elements varies depending on the browser used:
    Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer;
    Chrome;
    Opera.

Ease of expansion Yandex elements appreciated by many. And for good reason. Everything is before your eyes - from new messages in mail and social networks, to quick access to the Yandex Money button, as well as webmaster tools.

Where did Yandex Elements go?

No way. Just in version Mozilla Firefox 56.0, released in September-October 2017, the developers removed from there the possibility of compatibility with the extension Yandex elements. The motivation for this stupidity was simple: “There is no technical possibility to implement the toolbar” .

Apparently, the issue is not a lack of technical capability or the hands-on behavior of the developers, but a desire to force users to Yandex.Browser with its poor functionality.

How to return Yandex Elements?

In short - roll back Mozilla Firefox 56.0 to version 55.0 and block forced browser updates - everything will be restored.

1. First, download the version of Mozilla Firefox 55.0 we need

Mozilla Firefox 55.0 download page

Language selection

Click the button [Install Yandex Elements];
in the dialog that appears, select Allow ;
wait for the distribution to finish loading;
select in dialogue Install now and follow the installation instructions.

Yandex elements will appear after restarting the browser.

4. Block attempts to automatically update Mozilla

This should be done so that when you next load your browser, it will not be updated to the latest version, in which Yandex Elements will stop working. Let me remind you that already in version 56.0 this extension is blocked.

To do this, open the browser menu, select [Settings], go to page [Advanced] and enter the submenu [Updates]. Here in the checkbox you should select the option: "Never check for updates" .

Blocking installation of updates in Mozilla Firefox

5. Let's add Yandex Elements to the list of trusted add-ons

Otherwise, at one point Mozilla may simply block access to the extension, perceiving it as unwanted.

  • Let's go to [Settings] → [Protection];
  • press [Exceptions] in point [Are common];
  • in the window that opens [Allowed sites - Installing add-ons] enter the website address: https://element.yandex.ru
  • press [Allow].

Adding Yandex Elements to the list of trusted sites

After that Yandex elements will appear in the list of trusted add-ons in the lower table of the same window. Do not forget save changes.

That's practically all.

Setting up the Yandex Elements extension

Customizing the extension to suit your tasks is not at all difficult - simply by dragging it from one window to another (from the available buttons to the current buttons).

You can do it another way (also by dragging) from the settings window directly to the desired place in the toolbar. You can get to this window from the browser menu:

Open the browser menu;
Click on the button [+ Edit] in the lower left corner of the pop-up settings window.

Adding Yandex Elements buttons by dragging directly into the toolbar

After moving the buttons, press the green button [Exit Settings](bottom right of the menu window).

In the toolbar, the buttons you select will look something like this:

Yandex Elements buttons in the toolbar

You can view information about the installed Yandex Elements extension, as well as find a direct link to the product page here:

Page with information about the Yandex Elements extension

You can check the browser version installed on your computer from the browser menu:

Open the browser menu;
Click on the button with a question mark [?] at the very bottom of the settings window that pops up
In the next pop-up window, click on the lowest item "About Firefox" .

Page with information about the current version of Firefox

I hope you understand why don't check for updates and install a more recent version of the browser? If you have version 55.0 installed, and you have done everything described above, then Yandex elements are not going anywhere. Otherwise, look for the title “How to return Yandex Elements?” at the beginning of the article and go through all the points.

And, finally, how to remove unnecessary Mozilla Firefox 56.0 without “tails” in the registry that remain after removal with the standard uninstaller. Complete removal should be done using special programs, both paid and free. One of the free, but very effective - IObit Uninstaller, which can be downloaded from this link from the official website of the developer.

How to use Yandex search. It turns out there's a lot we don't know about proper cotext search. Data encryption

Hello, dear readers of the blog site. Today we will talk about Yandex Bar - a popular extension (panel) for . Once upon a time, this was a completely useless panel that offered little to both the average Internet user and the webmaster.

But now, in my opinion, Yandex Bar has grown out of children’s pants and can be considered as a rather convenient and complete tool that increases the convenience of surfing the Internet and which will be useful to a certain extent even for webmasters.

Although, of course, all of the above does not apply to all versions of Ya.Bar that you can download. For example, for the Opera and Chrome browsers, this panel is unlikely to be useful to webmasters, because there is not much of what is present in the full-featured versions, which are intended for installation as Internet Explorer. I don’t work with Safari, so I can’t say anything about the functionality of the Yandex Bar version for this browser.

Recently, Ya.bar was renamed to , but even the numbering of versions of this add-on for popular browsers continued. There are not many changes in Elements compared to the previous version of this extension, but they still exist. Read more in the article at the link above.

Why does the Yandex search engine need a Bar (Elements)?

Previously, I had a subconscious question, why do search engines go out of their way and try to add more and more free services in addition to regular search, and why are they trying to almost forcefully impose their panels, all kinds of bars, free programs on us, ordinary users? (for example, which is in your browsers and default search).

Basically, the box just opens. The Bar, Google Toolbar, and Bing Bar are needed for two main reasons. Firstly, it will tightly tie you to your search engine through the search form and all these additional services, which can be accessed from these panels.

Secondly, they simultaneously solve for themselves (or are trying to solve) another global mega-task - to improve. Probably everyone has already heard about the influence of user factors on promotion. Let’s say that tracking user behavior in search results won’t be a problem, but here’s how track visitor actions directly on the sites?

Here you will get the answer to the question, why such sophisticated (and, probably, expensive to develop and support) visitor counters, like Google Analytics, are positioned as absolutely free (and the same Liveinternet, probably sells its statistics to search engines, otherwise it would not be free).

But not all sites have counters (after all, many webmasters understand how this can result if the quality of the resource is not high enough), which is why search tools such as Yandex Bar are needed. It must be useful to users, otherwise it will not be installed, but among other things, it collects data about their behavior. Those. Thus, Yandex actually recruits free testers, thereby increasing the quality of its search results and the level of its income.

In general, search engines, just like you and me, dear readers, are fighting for a place in the sun, i.e. for the banal. Well, it, just like for us, ordinary webmasters, will be directly proportional to the resulting income.

After all, search engines (at least Google and the RuNet mirror) earn up to 90 percent of all money from contextual advertising (they publish in their search results and Adwords, respectively). True, you and I, dear readers, unlike them, have a much larger assortment, but, of course, on a much smaller scale.

Yandex Bar (in its new name it is called Elements and a link to a description of the differences between these two applications is given at the beginning of this publication) is now installed on many RuNet users, and most of them did not download it specifically, but simply forgot to uncheck the corresponding boxes when installing which - a free program that has entered into an agreement with Yandex or was purchased by it outright (ala, Punto Switcher, the link to which I provided just above).

But nevertheless, now you can quite consciously download and install Yandex bar for your browser (versions for Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer are more functional) and not regret what you have done.

Download and install Yandex Bar for Mozilla, Explorer, Opera and Chrome

After you click on the “Install” button, Mazila may ask you for permission to install this extension, and after your approval, Yandex Bar will begin downloading, then you will be asked about your desire to install this application:

What is noteworthy is that after renaming the Bar, instead of one add-on, two will be installed at once: the ones I have already described and, in fact, the Elements.

After installation, you will be prompted to restart Firefox to activate the installed application. A prudent search engine will ask you to agree to the user agreement in order to avoid excesses and will offer to make Yandex.ru the default page, and your search as the default option.

As I said just above, you will be asked to agree to use your data about what resources you visit and how much you liked everything there. Of course, this is not done to track you (I don’t think that the information collected is personalized in any way), but the search engine really needs this information to improve the quality of its search.

Afterwards, at the top of the Mozilla window, you will see the Yandex Bar (Elements) panel, and additional buttons will also appear on the right side of the address bar:

Elements but now they will look a little different. The main informers will be located to the right of the search bar, and a strip will appear just below where you can drag additional buttons when setting up this panel (see just below in the text):

Next on the Yandex Bar are your profile buttons and the search engine informer. Mail with the number of new letters, as well as buttons for going to the page, adding a page opened in the browser to Ya.Bookmarks and a button leading to a page with additional widgets and buttons. It’s the last button, or rather the addition of new buttons, that we’ll talk about in a little more detail.

Yes, Ya.bar also adds two icons to the address bar, shown in this picture:

When you click on the first “Address Bar Corrector” button, you seem to block the keyboard layout that you currently have selected in the operating system. Those. even if you select Russian for typing, Latin letters will still be entered in the address bar. Probably, this may seem convenient to some, but personally I don’t care.

But I liked the second button of the i.bar “Show in an easy-to-read form”, because it actually acts as a “Print page” button, which allows you to present web pages in an easy-to-read form (removing everything unnecessary).

Many people don’t like to read from the screen, and they don’t always have time for it, so by printing a page with a minimum of graphics, you can significantly save on printer ink. Perhaps there is still no button to transfer to, but for this purpose you can use and.

Other buttons and widgets for Yandex Elements

So, find the additional buttons you need and click on “Install” located just below, and once again duplicate your desire in the pop-up window:

After that, in the same pop-up window you will be asked to make preliminary settings for displaying new buttons on the Yabar panel and click the “Save” button after completing these manipulations:

That's it, the buttons will appear on the panel. If you are not satisfied with something (for example, their position relative to others in the Yandex Bar line), then you can go to the settings (gear-shaped button) and make the shuffles you need, and also, if desired, change the order of their appearance to panels:

The “Ya.Webmaster” set of buttons allows you to quickly access this useful service directly from the bar panel, as well as view some indicators of your sites (if you have created separate buttons for them).

There is also an expanded set of buttons for Ya.Money and many other buttons for Ya.Bar, but it’s up to you to decide what to use and what not. And in general, I would not classify the use of Yandex Bar as a mandatory attribute, because this panel still does not meet all the requirements of a webmaster, although in combination with other extensions for the Mozilla Firefox browser it has a right to exist. IMHO.

Differences between Elements and Bar for Chrome, Mazila, IE and Opera

Download the latest version of Elements you can on this Yandex page by accessing it from the browser where you are going to install this add-on:

Actually, after installing this extension in the Google Chrome and Opera browser, you will see an Items button in the upper right corner, displaying the number of letters in your mailbox and opening many other tabs when clicked, and in the address bar you will see a button that allows you to activate and configure the word translator on the page opened in the browser:

In the case of Opera, however, the translator button will not be located in the address bar, but also in the upper right field. Default, translation of words on the page opened in the browser will be carried out by moving the mouse cursor to it and holding CTRL on the keyboard, although this operation can be simplified:

I found this option of Yandex Elements quite convenient, especially if a complete translation of the page is not required, but you just need to look up the meanings of some words:

Well, of course, in the browser where you installed Elements, if you open a new empty tab, it will display Yandex bookmarks, which you are free to customize to your taste and color preferences.

And the main difference between Elements and the Bar is that in the new panel it is now possible to enter search queries not in a separate form, but directly in the address bar (saves useful browser space), and along with the addresses you have already typed before, and will appear Yandex search suggestions:

It looks especially wonderful in Chrome (the brainchild of Google). But personally, for more than ten years I have been mainly using Yandex search and all these violent actions of the Runet mirror suit me quite well (a flag in their hands, a drum around their neck).

In Internet Explorer (IE) and Mozilla Firefox, the Yandex Elements panel will look a little different and its functionality will be a little wider:

The buttons that will be displayed on the Elements panel can be selected in the settings of this extension. To do this, from the Firefox button menu - Add-ons - "Extensions" tab - "Settings" button opposite "Elements":

The settings window almost completely replicates the similar Yandex Bar settings window for Mazila Firefox:

I have nothing new to add compared to what I wrote about the Bar. Let me just say that I don’t understand Yandex’s desire to constantly change everything, often losing what is useful for which many users used their browser add-ons.

Good luck to you! See you soon on the pages of the blog site

Yandex visual bookmarks for Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome - how to install and configure tabs in popular browsers

This article will help a novice user step by step, without difficulty, install Yandex, with additional applications, in the Mozilla Firefox browser. We will analyze all stages of installation, as well as various nuances of implementing the system for various platforms. Such as Windows, Android, Linux.

The difference between Yandex Bar and Yandex Elements

The traditional Yandex bar has been replaced by Elements. Their development and creation were dictated by new requirements in the computer industry. Their interface looks more grouped and aesthetically pleasing.

The elements still remained functional, just like the familiar bar. All the toolbars that you used previously can now be opened in one click, and collapsed just as easily.

We have also added the ability to enter search queries directly into the address bar and select the action to be performed with the query. For example, instant translation, search on Wikipedia, etc.

Yandex Bar previously allowed us to translate only individual words, but now it is possible to translate entire pages. This is very convenient if you are interested in websites from different countries.

Along with the already familiar functions of the Yandex bar, Elements retained Visual Bookmarks. They make it possible to quickly open your favorite sites; we can install informative buttons such as weather, traffic jams, exchange rates, etc. directly on the navigation bar. With one click, the necessary information opens in a pop-up window.

System requirements for installation

To install Elements in the Firefox search program, make sure your hardware uses one of the following platforms:

  • Windows XP;
  • Windows 7;
  • Windows 8;
  • Windows 10;
  • Linux;
  • Mac OS X

Your search engine must be updated to 4 or higher!

If necessary, update the system. It updates automatically, but you can do it manually. Go to the search program menu. Then go to the help section, select "About Mozilla Firefox". A new window will open to search for automatic updates.

When updates are found, restart the search engine for the new settings to take effect. As a rule, the program prompts you to perform an immediate reboot or perform this action manually. It is worth noting that the changes will not take effect until a reboot is activated.

Please note that if the update does not occur automatically, or the new changes do not take effect, or any other difficulties occur, please visit the automatic download page https://www.mozilla.org/ru/firefox/new/?scene=2#download -fx

Also take care of your safety. Do not download Mozilla Firefox from third-party sites. Use only the developer's official website. This way you will protect your system from malicious files that can damage the system.

Now let's move on to embedding elements in the browser:

Setting Yandex as the start page in Mozilla

To set the start page, you need to click on the Firefox logo in the upper left corner. In the context menu that opens, select Settings->Settings. A new dialog box will open for you to make changes to the program.

Next, go to the “Basic” subsection. You must select “Show home page” from the drop-down list in the “When Firefox starts” item. Next, we indicate the link to the home page, as shown in the figure. http://yandex.ru/. For the changes to take effect, click OK and restart Mozilla.

Now your start page is http://yandex.ru/. To quickly access it from other sites, use the Home function button.

Setting up Yandex Elements in Mozilla Firefox

To make individual changes to the display of Yandex Elements and Visual Bookmarks, you need to click on the Firefox logo in the upper left corner of the Windows operating system. Select the “Add-ons” option

If you are using a Linux or Mac OS operating system, first select Tools, then go to “Add-ons”. A new dialog box will open. We tear out the “Extensions” item. In this window, select the “Settings” item (used for individual parameters).

You can also disable the extension you choose or remove it if you do not plan to use it in the future.

I hope this article was as useful as possible for you, and you can easily use Yandex in the Mozilla Firefox browser.

Today, a browser, be it Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Opera, has already gone beyond a simple Internet browser; it is now a whole interactive machine. Although you could previously find out various information about traffic jams, the weather in your city and much more, each time you had to jump around the sites for a long time. Now there are browser add-ons that monitor useful information themselves and provide it in the form of a simple but very informative panel.

Perhaps the best program of its kind is “Yandex Elements,” which was previously called “Yandex.Bar.” This software is distributed free of charge as a browser setting by the company of the same name and is suitable for operating systems such as Windows XP and higher, Linux and Mac OS. Unlike analogues, elements do not take up space in the robot field of your browser, but are automatically hidden and reappeared as needed. In addition, the external interface can be customized to your taste.

List of opportunities provided to you:

  • "Smart line" of the search engine.
  • “Yandex.Music”, which will allow you to listen to songs by pressing one button.
  • Possibility to find out the weather in your city.
  • Traffic map of your or any other city.
  • Quick key access to many social networks.
  • Notifications about email status (how many unread emails) and others.
You can download this program from the link. What’s most interesting is that the site page itself will provide the required version that fits your browser.

Now let's look at the features of installing Yandex elements for some browsers, and the first of them will be Google Chrome. Click the “Install” button on the elements page. Afterwards you will need to wait while the application downloads. Next, run the downloaded file (you should also close the browser) and open the program installation wizard. In the first window, click “Next”, and in the second - “Install”, after installation click “Finish”. Launch Chrome again, where you will have to click “Allow” or “Save” while the new browser settings are confirmed.
